Room was easily accessible once you signed in. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Lots of car park spaces available (although car park was tight for going round so don't park your car on an edge!)
Whatever was happening next door until 12am with loud music. When you've had a 6 hour journey and all you want to do is sleep, that didn't help (I assume nothing to do with the guest house or the bar at Tyr Winch). The only option for breakfast is a hamper of cold foods - freshly prepared, apparently - but hubby was looking forward to a fry up, so off into Cardiff we go. They have missed a treat - out of the rooms by 10am but the bar doesn't open until 12pm. Most people aren't going to hang around for 2 hours to return to the pub. Just my opinion, obviously, but we were slightly disappointed.

From the moment we arrived to leaving, our expectations were more than met. 10/10. Driving into the car park, we instantly knew we would love it here at Ty'r Winch guest house, beautiful decor, lovely hanging baskets brimming with summer flowers, this place is a perfect little gem. The staff were absolutely attentive and they ensured our stay would be a memorable one. The accommodation was spotless, with a very tastefully decorated room, this attention to detail followed into the bathroom where there is a "Rain Forest" mixer shower, and is superbly tiled throughout. We dined in the pub, which is right next door and again it was of impeccable decor, browsing the menu it was full of mouthwatering dishes, we settled on the Ribeye steak, also a nice little touch on the menu was, each dish had a recommendation on which wine would accompany the meal. The steak literally melted in your mouth and the portion size was absolutely spot on, again the staff checked everything was ok and that we were happy with everything. There is a beautiful little area outside for a nightcap, seating and benches, covered with perfect lighting and flowers. Upon returning to our room, we slept peacefully and comfortably on a very comfortable bed, Totally undisturbed by any noises from other rooms. (Truly soundproof). We will definitely be sharing our experience with friends & family and hope to return soon. Thank You to the manager who was amazing, ensuring our stay was perfect.
The only thing we said, which isn't a "dislike" so we mean no negativity with this observation. Was - the bed could have had better quality pillows, as ours (room 3) were very lackluster. One more tiny little disappointment - advertised in the description was a coffee machine, not an issue as there was a full selection of tea, hot chocolate & instant coffee, but we do love a "proper" coffee during our stays away from home, so, we were looking forward to a few "nice" cups of coffee.

Loved the twin room and it was a quiet one at the back of the building which we’d requested. We were supplied with tea & coffee and biscuits which was lovely. The shower room was bigger than most pubs we’d been in which was great for my husband’s 6 ft 4 height. The meal in the restaurant was very good . Loved our stay.
My husband was having a drink and a smoke on the outside patio at the side of the hotel while waiting for me to come down and was told off by the owner who said he couldn’t smoke there. Fair enough ,but the table next to him, ( with two local guys ) chain smoked all night and the two tables opposite them were smoking and vaping. Noone checked to see if people were smoking and for me , being a none smoker ,it was quite awful . My husband always went to the designated smoking area, but no one else bothered. I just had to put up with everyone smoking around me in a none smoking area.

Staff were lovely. The pub was great. Even though we didn’t eat at the pub the menu was excellent and the prices were about right for an establishment of this type. The room was really clean, quiet and well appointed. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ty’r Winch as an excellent place to stay and I would definitely stay again myself.
The checkout time is 10am and that’s too early. I would expect 11am at the very least. You can extend your checkout time until 12pm but there’s an extra charge of £20 which for an extra 2 hours is very expensive considering that’s a quarter of the price for a night.

Love staying here, it’s a favourite when I need to stay for work. Rooms are stylish and comfortable, staff are lovely
Stayed in a room I’d not been in before and it was quite chilly. Previous rooms had a thermostat but couldn’t find one in the room and it felt too late to call. In the morning I discovered a switch above the bedroom door that turned on the heat in the room including the heated towel rail in the bathroom - bliss! Would be useful to have a notice in the room for this. I’ll be back, but will keep this in mind! Lovely hotel other than that one night

Warm and friendly gastropub with an accommodation block of a few rooms to the side. Tastefully decorated and suited our needs for a couple of nights to visit our young person at uni. Delicious dinner before we retired to our quiet room (except for a romantic couple next door). Plenty of on site parking even with a busy pub. Area was quiet and conveniently located for the motorway and town.
It is great that they offer breakfast which you order by 8pm the evening before and a hamper is left outside your room. This was convenient for us having arrived just before 8pm after a long drive. However, the room isn't ideal for eating as it only has one small desk/chair. So if breakfast in bed is your thing, you'll enjoy the experience. Adding a napkin to the hamper would be useful.

The property is located in a quiet suburb of Cardiff and has a gorgeous pub next to the guest house where the staff cannot do enough for you. It was very reasonably priced and we enjoyed a three course meal on NYE. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. The beds were lovely to sleep on and we had a lovely evening as a couple who very rarely get the chance to get away from modern life and parenthood.
There wasn’t anything I disliked about the property or the staff. They were phenomenal. The only let down was that we were rudely awaken by a couple above us who were having a domestic and screaming at each other between 4-5am as well as thumping the floor to the point it woke us both up from a deep sleep. We called the guest house manager on the number provided and a member of staff apologised and promptly came to the property to see if things were okay with the couple as we grew concerned for the welfare of both parties above us. Except for that, we had a wonderful stay and as stated it’s a shame one couple spoilt our sleep as the beds were gorgeous and we had a beautiful evening together

The location was ideal for visiting relatives in Caerphilly. It was very reasonably priced and we couldn’t fault the accommodation. The evening meal we had in the pub was exceptional and the bar had a really good atmosphere. It was nice to see a pub that is still busy and welcoming any evening. As the accommodation was separate from the pub it was nice and quiet.
The only disappointment was that there wasn’t a hot breakfast available to order. The breakfast hamper offered would be ideal in summer but in winter it wasn’t right for us and we had to then go and find somewhere else to eat breakfast.

We booked 7 rooms for the family coming to celebrate our daughters graduation. We were warmly greeted by Mike, who had organised our rooms perfectly . The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the beds were really comfortable. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant , and I can recommend the steak cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely and friendly from the lady who serviced our rooms to the restaurant staff . Could not fault them , what a lovely team. Would definitely stay again. Many Thanks

We adored everything.... And dinner at Ty'r Winch is superb.... Mushroom Risotto and a plate of Monkfish, too, in a Parmesan and Dill crumb.... Oh my! I can't see us ever staying anywhere else when we visit Cardiff. A special shout out for both Mike and for Lorna, who went OVER AND ABOVE the call of duty, to aid us with something that we needed help with, that was not at all connected with our stay, but they put themselves out to completely solve our problem. Yes... They went the extra mile. Excellent place, excellent people.
I could live there... It's amazing. The saddest part was leaving! It's so very nice there-a hidden gem.
