The room and bath were lush and lovely - very comfortable bed. Big beautiful windows out the front with large heavy drapes and shade for darkening. Room had everything you need and more including a snack box. Staff were lovely and helpful. Easy access to public transport, but I much preferred strolling through the beautiful Sophia Gardens and Bute Park each day.

Room #2 is up the stairs (no lift) and situated right over the pub bar. I knew this going in, but it definitely stayed lively (loud) until closing time. But after that it was a silent night. Pub closed at 11pm on weeknight and 12am on weekend.

Everything! Noah and Nathan were so kind and helpful young men at check in. They helped carry our luggage upstairs and ensured we knew about the facilities in the property and rooms. Great location and very well appointed room with special little touches. We stayed on Saturday night and did not hear any noise from the patrons of the pub. The bathroom was spacious and the shower brilliant. Small continental breakfast was very nice and ample with a freshly made coffee. Loved everything about the Pontcanna Inn and would 100% recommend staying here if you are in Cardiff

The Pontcana Inn was a fabulous place to stay and only a 15min walk from the centre. The rooms aren’t huge but the attention to detail was second to none. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, in a hotel and the shower was great. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We also had a full English breakfast in the morning which was well worth the money. The pub does get very busy but we didn’t hear any of the noise once in our room. We enjoyed everything about our stay and would most definitely come back.

The pub was very very busy on the Saturday night, which isn’t really our thing but we were able to order drinks and take them up to our room, which was perfect ☺️

Great location walking distance from central Cardiff (around 15 minutes to the Castle). Nice pub if you fancy a drink before heading to town. Reasonably priced rooms - we had one of the cheaper ones, meaning it was on the snug side, though the bathroom was relatively spacious. Good facilities, including a fridge with bottles of water, and a coffee machine, though frustratingly we couldn't get that to work. As it wasn't the weekend, there was only a continental breakfast on offer, which was a shame, though we enjoyed a good breakfast at a nearby pub/hotel. Very comfortable bed with supportive pillows. Overall, a great option for a stay in the capital, especially as there's often free road parking nearby.

The property was beautiful and rustic which is what attracted me to the property in the first place. The rooms were well decorated and had everything I needed. The staff were extremely lovely and made the experience so much better. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I was just a bit upset with the lack of heating and because it was quite late by the time I realised I didn’t want to have to message for a heater, so that’s the only let down.

I had a wonderful stay at the Pontcanna Inn! The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and the bathroom/shower was modern and well-maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable, making it easy to get a good night's rest. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. The location is great too—situated in a lovely part of Cardiff, with easy access to nearby parks and just a short walk to the city center. Highly recommend!

During my stay, some work was being done on the property, and there were a few loud noises early in the morning. This wasn't an issue for me since I had to be up and out early, but it could be something to be aware of for those planning a more relaxed start to the day. I will be staying here again nontheless.

We arrived at 9pm and had only booked the room that morning, check in was at the bar and was very quick as I had filled in my details online before arrival which is a great feature. We ended up with a large room overlooking the beer garden at the back, it was very clean and spacious with a nice high ceiling. The bathroom was lovely and supplied with nice quality toiletries. Unfortunately we had arrived just as the kitchen closed so had to go out but the location is excellent for the city centre which was a 10/15 minutes walk and a nice stroll through the park and by the castle during the day. We arrived back shortly after 11pm which is when the pub closes and there were no customers left in the outside areas so no worry of noise, there is a night entrance on the side of the pub up the fire escape for arrival back after the pub closes. Spoke to a few different staff over our stay and they were all lovely and friendly.

Not much storage space as no wardrobe or drawers, just some hooks on the wall so living out of suitcase. Mentioned on checkout that a couple of coat hangers would be good to hang from the hooks so I could hang up my dress properly and was advised that renovation works were to start next week (Aug 24) and the rooms where being redone also with more storage added so sounds like this will be rectified very shortly anyway. Would definitely stay here again.

The bed was very comfortable and the tea and coffee making facilities were of a high quality and it was a lovely touch to have sparkling bottled water and some proper milk in the fridge. The TV worked well and the surfaces were clean including the bathroom. I was also really pleased the road wasn't loud.

We had to change rooms as there was a leak in our room, however the staff were superb and as we were out they kindly moved our items for us into the new room and it was all very relaxed and easy so I was really impressed.

The location and the room itself were fantastic. Great value for money. It also has dog friendly rooms and we just had to pay an extra £10 for our pooch.

The building has a pub in the ground floor and the rooms are above that but that didn’t affect us at all. We were on the top floor with a view out of the back so no noise disturbance from anything! There is also no hotel parking. We were lucky and found a spot in Cathedral Road but could be tricky in busier seasons?

Very comfortable, great location, friendly staff. Somewhere we’ve stayed a number of times over the years.

No longer have parking at the rear of the hotel - which means parking in Sophia Gardens. This is expensive @ £24.50 per day. Also, no longer serve breakfast during the week. Not a major problem as there are a number of places nearby but it’s not as convenient as it could be.
