Location is excellent. Rooms are comfortable and clean with more than expected toiletries. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall a great place to stay at a fab price.

No restaurant available even though advertised. I have been twice before and enjoyed their sumptuous breakfasts so was very disappointed when the restaurant was not available even though it is described as such on your ad.

Location location location. Breakfast amazing value. Staff excellent. Great value for money if you have children who haven’t been spoilt in 4/5 Star accommodation. No TV which is marvellous. Should remind you of Uni days and canteens.

The beds are well worn and dormitory influenced. Late night arrivals very noisy ie 2am.

The hotel is located on Bankside, 5 minutes walk from the Thames and the "new" Globe theatre and directly opposite the Tate Modern. There are cafés, supermarkets and various restaurants in the immediate vicinity. If you are travelling from Gatwick Airport, you should take the Thameslink train to Blackfriars station. Then leave the station in the opposite direction (follow the signs for Tate Modern/Bankside) and you will be at the hotel in just under 3 minutes on foot (note: Google gives different information here and recommends getting off at London Bridge, which is a 13-minute walk). The hotel is only open to travellers between June and October. Otherwise it is a student residence. The hotel therefore basically has the charm of a youth hostel. And so most of the guests tend to be under 30. Everything is kept very simple, but - it must be emphasised - very clean. The beds in the rooms look like cots at first glance, but they have good mattresses and are therefore very comfortable and you can sleep very well. The breakfast - in a kind of canteen - is very extensive, with both English breakfast and Continental breakfast. The coffee and the cappuccino are very good. There are also plenty of croissants and pain au chocolat, as well as muesli and lots of fresh fruit. As I said, you shouldn't expect luxury, but you can get good accommodation for little money in this expensive city. I would like to emphasize the friendliness of the ladies at the breakfast buffet. Coupled with a pinch of humor, they serve up the fried eggs or beans. The housekeeping staff were always very friendly, polite and smiled when you greeted them. There was also a very nice young man at the reception (blond hair and glasses) who was very accommodating and helpful.

It was written that there are breakfast included (we also received info about it from the hotel) and it was not. That was one of the reasons why we chose this hotel. We were dissapointed cause of it :(

Remarkable value in what is an increasingly expensive London, Great location at the back of Tate Modern, 10 minutes walk to the Rake in Borough Market for a £24 pint (see pic). Neat and tidy room; shared bathroom was with the room next door which was empty during my visit so had sole use of the toilet and shower and made good use of the towels and toiletries provided. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better I had the best breakfast I've had in a while - unlimited drinks and fruit and whole plateful of hot food including a very nice wrap with avocado, felafel and chipotle beans (see pic) Canteen was full of braying euro kids having their 'London experience' but who can blame them for being excited - them for Madame Tussauds, me for the unlimited double expressos. Lovely staff as well. Great way to start the day.

Check in a bit of a faff as you need to provide ID but I think that's because the majority of clients were not from UK. Shame it's not open all year round - which is a compliment as well as a complaint!

I booked a double room with en suite but was lucky to be allocated a 2 bedroom apartment on the 8th floor with great views across London to sights like St Pauls. The bed was very comfy, good towels and even spa slippers were provided. Overall the accommodation was clean and well maintained, a few scratches here and there and a few marks on carpets but remarkable for the price and location. I have stayed in much worse hotels for a lot more money. Breakfast was very good and plentiful with lots of choice. It was such a good value place to stay you would almost not review and keep it a secret!

It was a bit warm as there was no air conditioning. A fan would have been useful. Windows let in a lot of fresh air but also London noise. The windows all had blinds which meant the light came into the bedrooms at dawn

Superb location. Very friendly and efficient check-in at reception. It was a very hot weekend and I feared the worse as I knew the room would not have air-con, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too warm. Two large windows which could be opened, and generally a good-sized room helped a lot. The single room I had shared a bathroom with just one other room which was a bonus. (and that room was empty for the night I was there - so even better 😃) The breakfast was great, both in terms of choice and quality.

My key fob couldnt access any of the communal kitchens. Including the one that should have been for my room number. But as I was only there for one night it didn't bother me. It was just drinking water I was after as the water in the bathroom said 'do not drink'. There was no bin in the room, which again for one night wasn't really an issue.

Rooms at LSE's Bankside House are an amazing value for the rate. Accommodations are definitely on the budget side, but the en suite bathroom, cleanliness, and location cannot be beat. The Tate Modern is just ACROSS THE STREET and my room fee was less than one of my theater tickets. My son was living on one of the dormitory floors of the building while attending LSE, so it made it very easy to meet up for our sightseeing and theater outings. Strongly recommend if you're not super fussy about fancy accommodations.

Little on the warm side. No air conditioning could be a problem during hot months. A fan was provided.

Location is excellent, beautiful part of town, with easy access to transport and museum and the river. This is an absolute bonus! Facilities and breakfast very good, especially for large groups and/or families. Rooms very comfy and all very clean.

One thing that I was not happy about was the lack of gluten free options at breakfast. One of the children is our group is coeliac and there were just some slice of bread gluten free. There was a fried potato cake labelled as gluten free, but the staff was not sure whether it had been fried in the same oil as other items, which would have contaminated it and not make it gluten free. Also there were some Oats cereals but again it was not clear if they had been processed in the same place as other cereals. In addition, there were no indication on food of possible allergens. This is really a key point for travelers whose allergies or conditions can be triggered by the wrong food.
