We loved the warm welcome from the staff offering juice /tea freely and the touches in the room … fresh fruit , water bottles and at reception wee bowls of sweets and biscuits offered . The art work throughout the hotel by Zara is gorgeous .Very special work from a gifted lady . We missed out taxi on departure day and the very kindly owner took us to the station which avoided getting soaked on the rain . Many thanks for your kindness 🌺

We wished our room was bigger but that’s ok . We didn’t know it was far to walk to the town centre so had to work out distances carefully , but apart from that, a friendly hotel .

As a budget-friendly hotel, you can’t really fault this place. It’s not fancy but it costs less than half what other hotels in the area cost. Our room was clean and comfy. The shower was hot and had decent water pressure. The staff on the front desk were so friendly and welcoming every time we saw them, and gave us free fruit and water and a red rose on arrival. They made our stay feel special.

Location is pretty good for when working in Waterloo and surrounding area. Room was small, but sufficient. Nice to have the fridge in the room and fan / iron / kettle etc. Also a nice touch to have fruit and water refreshed daily. Staff were very nice, happily stored luggage and just a nice quirky hotel with unusual decorations. Really liked the use of the microwave on bottom floor available for guests.

The fixed fan on the wall was good, but would have liked to be able to reposition it (e.g. if working at the desk). Breakfast could have included a little more selection. Also, sharp pointed metal on the floor in the breakfast area were painful to accidentally stand on (you really need to fix those).

A perfect stay in London, position is perfect, staff are over and beyond in trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Our receptionist (manager) Mr. Shahram offered my wife a rose on arrival. The little fridge had water, tea's, biscuits, and so many other things. The bathroom was new and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The rooms have an A/C. We will use this place again. We'll done !!

It would be good to have a big desk or bedside tables. We had nowhere to put our things, so we either left them on the floor or on the beds. This did not make our stay less comfortable.

Very friendly and helpful check in. The free continental breakfast was a bonus as I didn't think it was stated when booking. The breakfast was fantastic. The room was exactly what we needed, had everything required for a short stay. Excellent value for money. Easy to get to, very close to both Southwark and Elephant and Castle stations. Quiet location although near to everything needed, small supermarket shops in each direction. Really quirky decor in the corridors and lobby, entertained my daughter! Free fruit, bottled water and biscuits offered in the room and lobby to take whenever wanted. The TV in the room offered full range of satellite channels and streaming apps. There was also air con and heating in our room if we'd wanted it. Would definitely stay again.

Such tiny negatives, water pressure was a bit spluttery, kept changing whilst using! Could do with a hand towel hook or rail. The bed felt quite hard but it wasn't too bad for 1 night. Had a good rest regardless. Everything else was great.

The Staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. They were eager to support every request or query that we had. The breakfast selection is OK also, although bacon or sausage options would have been nice with the fried/boiled eggs. Complimentary water, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room was very well received and the facility of a fridge was also super healpful.

The room could have been cleaner - there were some coffee stains on the walls (recent) and also the bathroom was a little grimy.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating to drop on-drop off luggages before / after check-in or check-out time. There were free collations available. It is very close to the Elephant Castle subway station and at walking distance from the London and Tower bridges. The neighbourood was quiet and safe. Very pleasant stay. The room was equiped with 3 beds and a little fridge, which was convenient when we were too tied to have dinner outside. It is also very close to a supermarket that closes at 11 PM.

The showers are really small so it might be challenging for some people and the air conditioning was out of order, so we slept with the windows open and ear plugs ( was ok). However for a family stay to visit London in a budget conscious way, this was the perfect compromise and we would surely come back.

We really enjoyed our time at City London Hotel, while budget, its an unbeatable location - close to Waterloo and a stones throw from the Imperial War Museum, and great local pubs offering amazing food. We experienced a fantastic first night of sunset horizon views of London (The Shard /Gerkin) from our room on one of the upper floors. We were greeted with kindness and warmth at with staff reception, and we loved the quirky and fun exterior, and interior of classic english soft furnishings. The welcoming charm of the reception staff we met during our stay in July 2024 was most appreciated, they took care to meet our needs and make us feel valued. The breakfast was plentiful and sufficient and our rooms were cozy and clean with comfortable beds and enough space for suitcases and our bits and pieces. The shower was surprisingly amazing. This hotels offers charm and a unique quirkiness you don't get at the chain hotels. Its not the ritz but has the charm of English beachside hotel of yesteryear with the welcome and kindness not seen often in chain franchises. The staff are professional and endeavour to make sure all your needs are met. Having stayed a few $$$ hotels, I loved the unique style, decor and charm of City London Hotel. Its not as fancy and polished as other places, but I would love to come back again to experience their welcome again and thank their staff for a lovely stay.

We had an issue with our shower initially but it was quickly sorted out, and then once working was a highlight of our stay! Amazing shower!

The staff is extremely helpful and attentive. One detail I really appreciated was the impeccable service: every morning, the room was perfectly cleaned, and the provided water was replaced regularly. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around and explore the city. Moreover, considering the quality of service and the comfort offered, the value for money is truly great. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return!

The shower water pressure was a bit low

Very clean room, was upgraded from single room to double. During the warmer nights, it was such a pleasure to have AC. Had a comfortable night and would return and the reception staff very courteous.

Toilet rim needed cleaning saw this while sitting on bed. The room was tired and needed a coat of paint. Even where the bed was moved had scraped the wall and just left. If attention was given to upgrading rooms, I would tell more people about the hotel.
