The location for visiting the Royal Albert Hall was excellent, just 5 minutes' walk round the corner, but for the older traveller, the 15 minute walk to the Tube stations was a bit too far. The room was good, comfortable bed and well equipped with extras like face flannels and bath robes. However it was on the 5th floor, beyond the reach of the lift and the way to the room was not clearly signed. For the most part the staff were polite and attentive, though better training could improve some aspects.
There was a minor niggle over 'discretionary' service charges that I didn't recall being mentioned at the time of booking. A 5% accommodation service charge was explained by the receptionist when we checked in, that's 5% of the room price. She added the charge to the pre-paid bill. When we checked out, the receptionist did not ask whether we were happy to leave the charge on the bill, and I had forgotten about it. When I got home I looked at the bill and was surprised to find not only the accommodation service charge but also a restaurant service charge of 12.5% that had not been mentioned. I wrote to the manager and he apologised for the confusion. He said he would share my feedback with their team to improve their communication and billing practices moving forward.

I really loved the vibes and the interior of the place. I stayed on the 5th floor, and had to walk from the 4th floor up with 2 heavy luggages, and the concierge helped me with my bags up. I had to take them down myself, but the stairs aren't too bad.
The stay was almost perfect except my towel had a makeup stain on it. Otherwise, I would ask for a room with a view, as my windows were covered by a wall

Breakfast was lovely, staff very attentive.
We found a pair of glasses under the bed, the heating didn’t work & the bath was leaking. I also think it’s very cheeky to try to add on a staff service charge at the end of your stay particularly when the bar automatically add theirs on.

Very elegant and stylish hotel, well located for Kensington and the museum district. Surprisingly quiet for Queensgate. And right opposite Hyde Park and very near the Royal Albert Hall.
It was very cheeky to add a discretionary charge of £44 to the bill ‘to incentivise the staff’ as was explained in reception. It was the first time we’d ever come across this and immediately asked for this to be removed, which it was. Some reception staff were rather unwelcoming, whilst others were friendly.

The character and vibe of the hotel was perfect and just as I had hoped/expected. Very traditional British with the extra spice of some real Rolling Stones history. The bar is very cool and a must to visit! The location is great close to Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall but also easy walking distance to Harrods, museums, tons of restaurants and shopping as well as South Kensington Underground station.
The breakfast! It was way below our expectations. The presentation of the food was ok and the staff pleasant but my wife's Eggs Benedict was cold and my "Full English" overcooked and dry. My wife asked for a new EB, which was just OK. I didn't bother with mine. I thought that at £27+mandatory service charge per person there should be no fuss whatsoever.

I loved the location in Kensington! Lovely neighborhood!
Not much. The lift is a bit slow , but so what. They add on service charges on the bill as gratuities for the staff. Surprise! “ It is discretionary “ , but what am I gong to do, take it off or say no. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Christi from Romania 🇷🇴 was exceptional. He gave us exceptional recommendations for restaurants, etc.

Location was great. I didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that
The service charges were not anticipated which cost an extra £60. I thought that the price on booking.com was the full price I would pay so I was a bit surprised at the additional charges.

The moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly. The room, though compact, was stylishly designed and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. We appreciated the amenities, such as the complimentary bottled water, coffee maker, and high-speed Wi-Fi. We also enjoyed the cosy bar. The location of the hotel was ideal, with easy access by bus No 9 to local attractions. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, providing a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's proximity to Hyde Park, which made it easy to enjoy the natural beauty of the park.
We were quite surprised to find additional accommodation and restaurant service charges during our stay, as these were not mentioned in our booking confirmation from Booking.com. This unexpected expense was a bit disappointing. Although the front desk staff assured me that a refund would be processed to my credit card, as of today, I have not received the refund. While overall our stay was pleasant, we did notice a few minor issues during breakfast. Some of the table hosts seemed to lack hospitality. For instance, a double espresso was served in a large cup, and neither a glass of iced water nor milk was offered. These small details, though seemingly trivial, did impact our breakfeast experience.

I liked the friendly staff, the location was perfect- close to Hyde Park and the natural history museum. I also loved the decor of the building, it was very cosy and comforting.
The only thing I could critique was that we weren't informed prior to the stay that there would be a £50 refundable deposit, which was fine. However when we checked out, we didn't recieved the full £50 back as they kept £15 back as a service charge. Had this been explained at time of booking and payment, the experience would have been perfect!
