Stayed here for one night en route to Scotland and overall it's a lovely place and good value for money e.g. if you're planning on visiting Lindisfarne. It's an old house with a lot of atmosphere, super cosy and the reception area is simultaneously a lovely little pub (thanks to the thick ol' walls you wouldn't notice, sound-wise, once you're in your room). The staff, especially the young man working reception/pub when we arrived, are super lovely and very helpful. They even spontaneously informed us they'd be able to serve us a full vegan breakfast which was as unexpected as it was delish.

This was simply an unfortunate series of events but due to a temporary problem with the radiator in the bathroom it couldn't be turned off without it bleeding all over the place, so we left it on. This in turn seemed to set off the fire/carbon monoxide alarm...in the middle of the night. Which woke us. And apparently at least one member of staff who then came frantically knocking on our door when we tried to turn it off because it wouldn't stop. However, this was a freak incident and while it did lead to our night not being quite as peaceful as we'd hoped, it shouldn't be used to infer anything about the otherwise perfectly comfy hotel.

The pub-hotel was fabulous, right from booking in through to a lovely conversation on the way out. The bedroom was roomy and 'nipping clean' and the shower/toilet clean and very acceptable - with a shower that was easy to adjust and very powerful. Dinner in the restaurant was value for money and exceptional for a pub of this cost. The quaint decoration throughout was also better than you'd expect at this price. Because of the time of year staffing was limited, but very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly too. The hotel and bedroom were both 'very warm' all night.

The only quibble was that the wi-fi was only available in the bar area and not the upstairs in the bedrooms... but as this was a 'romantic break' that wasn't a problem. Car parking in the hotel car park was limited, but on street was free and as safe as you'd hope.

Breakfast was superb, excellent service so friendly. I was with my son who wanted a takeaway so we didn't have anything off the menu for an evening meal but we have booked again to stay so will definitely choose something off the menu, the meals looked amazing. The Sunday carvery looked and smelt gorgeous

Everything was perfect, nothing too much trouble. If I had one thing to moan about which isn't really a moan as we have requested the same room is that we had room 11 which was like an annex at the back, had its own parking space which was brilliant but the internet dropped out. Probably because it wasn't in the pub. It never bothered us but I suppose if you were working and needed internet it maybe a problem,

The attention to detail in th room was fabulous it very spacious and had a huge bath which was very luxurious. There was bark in the wall and overhead with lights intertwined and it gave a feeling of bathing outside under the stairs Plenty of wardrobe space. Big comfy bed and lovely bedding. Everything was scrupulously clean. The small shampoos/soaps etc were good quality. The bed was so comfy. breakfast was very nice. I had a fresh fruit platter with warm croissants.

Nothing about the hotel or staff as our stay was great. The room was quite warm and we opened the windows wide which was great but initially was a little bit noisy but not for long. They are going to put a fan into the room which will be much better.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. On arrival we were invited to select from a range of breakfast items for the following morning, including haggis and black pudding with the full English. Breakfast included cereals, fruit, pancakes etc. and was delicious. Our room was beautiful. When our hosts discovered that we were a mother and daughter travelling, they offered a quirky room that they thought we would love - and they were right! The bathroom facilities were modern and stylish, and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed a pleasant evening in the bar where there was a selection of games to pass the time. We booked this hotel last-minute after delays meant we didn't make it to our planned destination, and it was such a lucky find. This hotel exceeding our expectations.

It’s a dated hotel, but the place is kept very clean, all the people who worked there and who we came across were very helpful and friendly.. and the food was delicious! I had a chance to try their Sunday roast and it was divine. It was very quiet when we stayed, the location is spot on and we could just have a relaxing weekend away! As it was in winter I must say that our room radiators worked perfectly well and we stayed warm and cosy even on snowiest of days!!

The room was large with a lovely bath in it, plus en-suite shower/toilet. Enjoyed the fairy lights too. Toiletries provided were good. Staff were helpful and friendly.

There was no decaffeinated coffee at the breakfast bar. The room overlooked the road which was fairly busy during the day but quiet at night.

The charm of the old hotel , the location is perfect being on the high street of wooler . The hotel is very historic , it’s charming and quirky .

Iv been to this hotel numerous times . The only complaint I have on this visit is turning up to breakfast 10 mins late , being told I couldn’t have my poached eggs . I did pay for a full cooked breakfast each day. I said fine I will just grab a coffee . The lady changed her mind and said I could have them but she was on a tight schedule so I felt rushed . That’s my only complaint

Breakfast was excellent. Lovely produce and we kept forgetting to pre-order but it was no problem for the staff to deal with. Didn't have dinner. The room was lovely. The bath was gorgeous.

I think in places the finish is a bit rough. There was no grouting between the tiles on the bathroom floor and the tiles in the shower had grout smeared over them. Seems a shame. Also and I have said this before, if you provide a mirror over a dressing table you really need to provide a light too. It's impossible to do your makeup in the mirror provided as its so dark. I ended up having to prop my own mirror up on the bedside table under the lamp. Would be great to have a cover of some type to stand under when smoking.
