By the standards of San Francisco, this hotel represents great value for money. It is well decorated with a modern, hip vibe and the rooms are small but plenty spacious enough for the modern traveller. Our room was quiet and, although it didn't get much daylight, it was fine since we were out and about most of the day. It was well appointed with a modern bathroom and a comfortable bed and the overall feel was that it was brand new and meticulously maintained. The location right next to Union Square is great for exploring the city and is a very short walk away from Muni, tram, bus and BART connections so pack light and don't waste your money on an Uber or cab from the airport (The BART runs from SFO and drops you off 5 mins on foot from the hotel). You can also get yourself a clipper card and explore this great city using the great public transport SF has to offer. The coffee at the hotel is not great but the Caffe Central just around the corner on O'Farrell does great coffee and breakfasts.
The downtown location has both ups and downs and you do need to be aware of what's going on around you as you would in any city. There are a number of homeless people on the streets near the hotel but while it is confronting, we never felt threatened or endangered by their presence. However, if stuff like this bothers you, you probably need to find a different hotel or maybe just not visit any large American cities.

The hotel is great, staff is awesome, the size of the room is just enough. I stayed alone at a room for two and the space was just about fine. Bear in mind that there is no closet. I stayed for several days and they so not include cleaning while you are staying, so the hotel might be more focused for short stays. It's just in the corner of union square, great location. The taxi/uber cannot stop on powell street so they will drop/pick you on the corner... important if you have issues to move luggage by your own.
Closet missing. No cleaning service while staying.

The room was super clean, very quiet, bed was really comfy and bedding and towels smelt clean, crisp and fresh!
Very little space to hang any clothes and nowhere to put anything. My clothes and stuff were just laid out on the floor, maybe just a chest of drawers or something? My flight was delayed so when I checked out I had some hrs to go before I had to get to the airport. I asked if I could leave my suitcase and was told I couldn’t, they had nowhere to put it! Really? A big hotel like this doesn’t have a small room for a couple of hours. I had to take my case across the road to a shop which charged me $8 to store it for 4 hrs.

The proximity to major public transportation lines like the BART and MUNI are excellent. The rooms were fashionable and look just like the pictures. We received a room upgrade due to the window being broken in our first room. The staff is super friendly and professional. The bed is comfy and my room had a big tv, which I liked.
The elevator was broken during the last few days of my stay. I wouldn’t say that was something I disliked, but dragging down 2 suitcases down 6 flights of stairs seems like an adventure. While the neighborhood is super lively during the day, it is quite sketchy during the night. Lots of homeless people around.

Location was great and hotel felt clean and safe
My wife had to ask multiple times for a hair dryer and we kept being told it would get dropped off to the room. It ended up not coming in time for our trip to Sonoma, so she wasn't very happy about that. The whole trip was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and she wanted to do her hair for pictures, but we still had a nice time. Would stay here again, but bring your own hair dryer if needed

I loved the location - Union Square. Everything in one place - public transport, shopping, and food. I also loved how spacious and large the room was.
The shower head should have been on the opposite side of where the door closed. Was a bit wired having the sink in the bedroom and not next to the shower or the toilet. I wasn’t too bothered but I did wish they had room cleaning every other day or at least every four days for long stays. I stayed 7 days.

The location couldn’t be more ideal—right on Powell, a few blocks from Union Square, very central to the other neighborhoods that define downtown San Francisco life. The complimentary coffee and tea service in the lobby was also a plus.
The room was only partially clean upon check-in. There were remnants of the previous occupants in the bathroom— used bar of soap on the sink; long female hair on the floor; shower gel bottle completely depleted. Also, perhaps the in-room wardrobe could be reimagined—barely adequate storage for two occupants over a long weekend, for instance.

The location is very central, with many options of public transportation, restaurants and bars. It can be a bit noisy, but also during my stay I was close to a place where there was a strike demonstration and they were making a lot of noise, I could hear it but not to a point where it bothered or made it uncomfortable. Easy to access busses, subway, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and cable cars. Walking distance to Fisherman's Whart (+- 2,6 kilometers). The room was small, but decent and comfortable.
There wasn't a frigobar in the room, which I wanted to use in some cases to store some beverages to have it cold in the night, but that was not an option. When doing the checkout, they didn't have a place where I could store my luggage and pick it up after (I had a late flight and still wanted to do a bit more of sightseeing). The only option that they offered was a luggate store right in front of the hotel where they charged $8 (as of October 2024) to store it for you, however, the store itself had really bad reviews from people that got scammed when they bought stuff from that store, so I wouldn't trust them with my luggage,

The hotel is in an excellent location. It is only 5 minutes walk from the Powell St BART train station and from the cable car turnaround station which has a ticket office where I was able to buy a 3 day visitors passport (unlimited rides on Muni, Muni Metro, historic streetcars and cable cars) for $31 (USD). A single cable car ride is $8 USD. The hotel is right in the middle of the shopping district, in the same block as Macy's and in the next block to Union Square. My room was small but very comfortable and clean with a ceiling fan. There was adequate space for one suitcase - a second would have been a squeeze. In the foyer there was hot water and sparkling water on tap with a good range of Twinings teabags. There is a Starbucks opposite for coffee, breakfast and meals. The staff were friendly and helpful.
There is not a lot of space if you wanted to leave luggage (before or after check-in/check-out). I was very grateful that the staff were able to have my room ready earlier than the check-in time on the day I arrived, enabling me to join a tour in the afternoon.

Good location close to multiple forms of public transportation. Very clean, simple room. Bathroom and shower were spacious. Very good shape. Bed was very comfortable. Had a ceiling fan and a nice TV.
Wish there would have been a disposable cup and a box of tissues in the bathroom. Maybe a small fold out table or somewhere to put luggage or a bag. Had to put items on the floor.. Not a deal breaker, just more of a convenience thing.
