Location is great access to grocery stores and fast food options such as chipotle. I really like that you could control the room with the iPad. I really needed a hotel room, but I could just relax, and this is the perfect lounge type of hotel.

The windows are not tinted so if you have your blinds open, people can literally see through you like a fishbowl and what was even more creepy is that I could literally see into the rooms of people staying at the hotel across the street. I also wish there was access to a water fountain. I also do not think that breakfast was worth the money at all.

Clean and modern rooms. Yes they are small but who goes to Washington to stay in their room? It is purely somewhere to sleep and shower. Cost about $10 in an uber from Union station. There is a supermarket and a pharmacy across the road. The metro station is a 3 to 4 minute walk away. Approximately 30 minute walk to The Capitol and the same to some nice restaurants (Carmines, Tik Thai). Yes there are some ‘characters’ on the streets but we didn’t experience any issues. First time in a Citizen M hotel but would definitely stay again.

Excellent location, right next to a metro stop, a grocery store and lots of places to eat. Very walkable area as well, can really get all over DC quite easily from there. This was my first time staying at a CitizenM and I really liked it. It's clean and modern with a friendly staff, a bar and some great spots to hang out or work in the lobby. The rooms are pretty small, but they are designed to utilize the space well. Really liked the shower, the large, firm bed and the blackout blinds. Overall, excellent value for the price, and perfect for a solo traveler. It would work for two people as well, but might feel a little cramped if you're not used to being in close quarters with each other. I will look for this chain again the next time I book somewhere.

Really have to get nitpicky to find any cons, but some of the light switches are kind of confusing. Sometimes I'd have to press them multiple times to get something to turn on or off, and some of them can actually be held down to adjust the amount of light, but it's not very clear that's a feature until you do it on accident. Not sure how I feel about the iPad either. It's kind of a neat idea, but it is a bit cumbersome to use it for many things, like the TV, as you have to tap several times to do what you want once the screen turns off -- would be easier to just use the remote. You can also use it to control the lights and blinds, but again, more convenient to just use the switches on the wall for that. It also has a camera on it, which feels a bit weird.

Breakfast was great, lounge was comfortable and welcoming! Drinks were nice and staff were all excellent and helpful! The rooms offer everything I needed and were clean. The iPad was easy to use and and answered questions that I had. I will come again!

Mosquitoes in lobby! Plants are great, try mosquito bits in the plant dirt and get rid of all standing water. It works. Parking is hard to find. Staff needs a map to help guests understand what the options are, cost and where to go. No one could help and the traffic was bad, and I drove around without a place to put my car for the days I was staying.

The location was prefect for me, the neighborhood is very walkable and the metro is basically right there. There are tons of great coffee shops, restaurants, and other spots within walking distance, which made exploring super easy. One of the coolest parts of the stay was using the in-room iPad to control almost everything, from the lights and blinds to the TV and room temperature. It added a fun, modern touch. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. I’d definitely stay here again!

The layout of the room wasn’t the best. As well my room wasn’t cleaned properly or cleaned at all. Was extremely tired when I arrived so didn’t inspect the bedding as I usually do. So as I woke up in the morning after my arrival I saw several strands of long hair entangled into the comforter, I have short dreadlocks and was wearing a bonnet. Very disappointed with that, but otherwise was happy with the hotel.

love the cool artsy vibe of the hotel and staff : friendly efficient at check in and check out. the hotel lobby is cool. adequate security with great clean rooms. quiet and private . good decor in the room and good media and light fixtures. the hotel check in staff gave us a complimentary breakfast which was a beautiful surprise. bed was good comfortable - we had good sleep. located near the metro NOMA as well near a grocery supermarket and near capital bikes , which we used for exploring parts of city. the area is safe secure and has great vibes. Breakfast was good. there was a fridge and a security safe for use.

room is a tad small and would have been better if it were slightly bigger. no electric kettle . no tooth brush or tooth paste provided .

Now that was a refreshing hotel experience! A clean, very modern hotel with very friendly staff, a comfortable lobby with bar and lounge. The rooms are not super-large, but the space is cleverly used and everything from lights to temperature to media is completely controllable by a tablet. Breakfast is not the cheapest, but has a good selection and quality. From the hotel it's approximately 8 minutes to the nearest bus stop and the nearest metro station. Most definitely a thumbs up from us for this hotel, we'll definitely use this one again next time we're DC.

Really well designed modern rooms and great ambiance overall. Perfect room for one ... plush and fun and really well designed. I liked the room's tablet ... easy to adjust lights (including colors) , watch tv, set temp (altho the heat never really ticked up when i called for it) and set alarm. Light switches well marked too! SUPER great staff and nice work spaces and bar on street level. The price was also quite reasonable. Will definitely return for my DC trips!

As a member of the older generation, it was annoying that super small fonts were employed when typing into the tablet's 'tell us more' screen. Also was confusing that shower had 2 shampoos and no soap (each shampoo is a different scent/use ... one a.m. and one p.m. ... and they double as body soap). Only with my cheaters on i could read the labels to figure that out. Mirror lights above sink could be brighter for those doing skin care!

My daughter and I recently stayed at CitizenM in Washington DC, and we were really impressed! The room was a bit small, but they made the most out of every inch of space. They even managed to fit a king-size bed in there, which was great (though I'm glad I didn't bring my 6'6" husband along—he might've struggled to fit on it!). The clever use of space made the room feel more spacious than it actually was, with no wasted areas. The mood lighting was a nice touch and really set a relaxing atmosphere, and the automatic blinds controlled by the iPad were such a cool feature. It made everything feel high-tech and seamless. As for breakfast, it had a nice European flair—really tasty with a variety of options, including some exotic fruit, which was a fun surprise! The staff was limited but super helpful and friendly. From the security guard who gave us great tips on street parking and nearby garages to the front desk team, everyone was welcoming and efficient.

The only downside is the parking situation, so I’d recommend using Uber or the metro if you’re visiting. It’s much easier than dealing with parking.
