We had a fantastic stay here - all the staff is wonderful especially Jelly who helped us with food recommendations and getting tickets to the water puppet show. The location is great as we were walking distance from the lake, many food options, and train street. I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to stay here! We also appreciated the air conditioned lobby as not all our stays had this in Vietnam.

There was nothing we didn’t like!

The staff makes this hotel special. They give a personal touch with their service and communication. The hotel vibe and aesthetic are also amazing. Everything was on theme even to the smallest detail. The location is a 5-minute walk to train Street :) Most importantly, the food is great! The presentation gives it an extra push. My tip is to order from their Vietnamese menu and not the International menu- you're in Vietnam anyway so order their food!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was my husband's birthday and the staff decorated the bed with roses and even prepared a little birthday surprise. We had a lovely terrace, were we could enjoy the sunset. I loved the rooftop bar and the cocktails. The breakfast was excellent. This hotel had everything we needed.

Staying at Meritel Hanoi was a lovely experience. Located in the Old Quarter, it offers the ideal balance of being close enough to the buzz and charm of Hanoi’s historic streets, yet just tucked away enough to feel calm and relaxing. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were exceptional - genuinely warm, attentive, and always eager to help with anything from taxis to local tips. The welcome drink and personalised check-in, as well as the handwritten birthday card and surprise in the fridge were thoughtful touches that set the tone for the entire stay. The staff were always eager to help, especially as I was feeling unwell and we had an issue with our ticket/airline. The staff helped us navigate the situation and made calls on our behalf until the situation was sorted. Although the rooms are slightly dated, they are beautifully designed, spacious, and combine Vietnamese aesthetics with modern comforts. Ours was spotless, quiet, and came with plush bedding, great water pressure, and little luxuries like quality toiletries and robes. Everything felt well cared for. Although I didn’t use the rooftop pool and bar, my friend did and I hear it offered great views of the city, especially at sunset. Breakfast was varied and delicious, with both local and international options: fruit, pastries, eggs cooked to order, and fresh juices. I was offered endless cups of ginger and honey tea to help with my sore throat at all times. Meritel Hanoi strikes the perfect balance between boutique charm and high-end service. We felt incredibly well looked after and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone visiting Hanoi. A peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

The room and hotel overall were great. I really loved the restaurant. Great staff and amazing food including the breakfast. I definitely recommend grabbing lunch or dinner there. The location is great as well. It's in the heart of the old quarter within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and attractions. Lastly, the staff were some of the nicest people I've seen in the service industry and I've traveled to quite a few countries.

The staff at this hotel are truly amazing, they totally go the extra mile! I want to mention VP and Benjamin in particular as they were responsible for reuniting me with my passport after it had gone missing in Ha Long Bay the day before my arrival in Hanoi. The staff at the hotel in Ha Long Bay (Ha Long Essence) had failed to help me find my passport but, as soon as I arrived at the Meritel Hotel, distraught and tired, VP changed the situation around completely by calling the police station in Ha Long Bay and locating my passport! I am so grateful to VP as I had honesty given up on getting my passport back. The passport had been found in a casino in Ha Long Bay (I had not visited a casino so can only assume that someone was trying to use it for financial gain). VP arranged for our flight, scheduled to fly to Hoi An the following morning, to be changed to an afternoon flight in order that I could get my passport back. Both VP and Benjamin then organised for the passport to be brought to me from Ha Long Bay rather than me having to travel back to Ha Long Bay to collect it. I am eternally grateful to VP and Benjamin - they are a true credit to the Meritel Hotel.

Maybe a little more choice at breakfast

This was my second stay in the hotel after a trip to Hoi An and I wanted it to be better than the first. Unfortunately the rushed housekeeping (my fault for turning up early) meant that my towels were less than clean and there were holes in the sheets - obviously there wasn't time for quality control. Management were very proactive in seeking my feedback and tried their best to help as I was checking out (I didn't say anything earlier).

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the shower, spacious and a large shower head that worked really well. The breakfast was very good too - each morning was a different noodle soup dish as well as the usual western buffet breakfast options. The staff were also very friendly - Anh at the front desk was very warming from the moment I checked in. She also sent additional messages to check that I was comfortable and/or needed anything else, a very nice touch as I was travelling alone. I also used the spa facilities - massage was great in a very relaxing room away from all the noise. I will definitely stay here again.
