As far as budget traveling goes, we weren't expecting much. But the hotel was really nice, it's one of the cheapest around, and the location is super nice. Good food and sights everywhere within arm's reach. The staff was super nice and helpful! Definitely a high recommendation!

The elevator ride was so hot in the summer. But that's just a super small nitpick, its hot everywhere in summer. I guess my recommendation for the hotel is just to hang a don't disturb/make room signage. The staff cleaned our room spotless everyday of our stay, which is good for some people. But i feel giving a day or two between cleans is also good. Not too rough on the cleaning staff and better for the environment IMO But again just small nitpicks!

The family who own this property are wonderful - they take such good care of you. We were contacted to make sure we hadn't gotten lost, and to make sure our tour guide found us when there was a mixup of meeting area. The location was perfect, close to everything but far back enough from the main street to be quiet. Our room was very cute, especially the balcony. Would recommend!

The only thing I'll mention is that there wasn't space for a chair in the room - not something I need but after coming back hot and sweaty from the humidity and waiting for the air con to kick in, it would have been good to have somewhere to sit that wasn't the bed. Otherwise, this was a fantastic stay!

Clean, and lift accessible room. Friendly and helpful owner who goes the extra mile to guide guests on attractions and places of interest. Even supplied a pamphlet with local attractions map if you indicate that you are not familiar with the location. During chatting we shared that we will not be returning immediately after our stay but still be stuck in Hanoi for almost the rest of the day and owner offered to allow us to leave our many baggages at the hotel for better convenience. Very appreciative to the many occasions of owner going out the way to offer help and support to me and my family.

Hotel is not accessible to main roads and guests may need to alight at main road and walk ~2 mins to the hotel with your luggage though the alleyway (owner had also posted video guide on the way to the hotel from main road).

The location is amazing. It’s right in the hubbub of the old quarter, but down a quiet alley opposite a temple. We had a window - surprisingly not a given in Hanoi hotel rooms. The staff were helpful. Some other reviews claim the towels and bed clothes were unwashed. I think they were just sometimes just well used. Our bed was comfortable and our bed linen was crisp and white and smelled nice and clean. It is really good value for money for what you get, but it’s not a swanky hotel.

The room was a bit small with the double bed pushed up against the wall, so one person had to climb over the other for a night time loo visit.

Our days in Hanoi were enriched by the family running the hotel. They were extremely kind, patient and helpful. Simply wonderful people. The very best :) The hotel is very centrally located, yet in a quiet little street. It was not noisy. The rooms are of a good size, have air conditioning and separate bathrooms.

All in all, we left our accommodation feeling very positive and cheerful, as the family made up for any shortcomings with their endless kindness. Unfortunately, I have to mention that the hotel could do with some renovation and painting.

The hotel is in the center, but not in the middle of the chaos, so it’s quiet, I slept like a baby every night. The water was hot, room was very clean, you get water everyday. Lots of restaurants around, train street is like 8min walk from the hotel, the cathedral is like 10min walk, there’s an small supermarket open 7/24 5min away walk. I took a grab to visit the other attractions and they were pretty close. The owners are friendly and helpful, they arrange me transportation from the airport. I would definitely choose this place in Hanoi!

I just feel a little bit bad to wake up the guy to open the door for me cause I arrived late, but that’s on me haha.

It was only £22 for three nights and the best thing was it was family run and owned. Really helpful and friendly. Right in the middle of the old quarter. They did my laundry in re hours, washed, smelling nice and pressed, all for less than £1.

Nothing.

So happy we chose Tung Trang for our stay/base in Hanoi. Best location in the Old Quarter, located in a quiet alley way. Part of the alleyway around the corner becomes a local hive of activity in the morning with fruit & meat venders selling their produce. Fabulous to see. We had a room with balcony looking over the houses and a beautiful tree. The room & bathroom were spacious & had everything you need. Nhung and her family were so helpful the minute we arrived and she booked our transport to Cao Bang for us. We are looking forward to coming back after some exploring in the north. Cam on Tung Trang for having us.

The best place I stayed at in Hanoi! Very conveniently located, a few minutes walk to one of the main streets in the Old Quarter, but my room faced a smaller street, so it was rather quiet. I got a room on the 5th floor with a big balcony, which I absolutely felt in love with! The facilities are modern, there is a lift (not every house in Old Quarter has it...). The room was nice and comfortable. The staff was really helpful, with good English, so no communication issues at all. I arranged for a laundry to be done, and it came back the same day, all perfectly washed and ironed. Many thanks, will come back!

I had some troubles with my room card, but that's just me not being tech-savvy, so nevermind.

I had a great stay at this hotel in Hanoi! The location in the heart of the Old Town was absolutely perfect—close to everything, yet wonderfully peaceful due to the no-car access. It felt like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The family-owned atmosphere made the experience even more special. The service was impeccable; every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They were always happy to assist with anything I needed, from local tips to arranging transport. The warm and personal touch, combined with the quiet, central location, made this hotel a standout choice. I couldn’t recommend it more and would definitely return!
