The Old Quarter of Hanoi is an eclectic mix of very swanky boutique hotels and 2 star backpacker hostels in amongst specialty stores and cafes and restaurants and the lives of the ordinary residents of inner city Hanoi(ans). Hanoi Charming House is located in amongst the myriad of laneways, the atmosphere is palpable. Our room was big with 2 large windows serving you a little view of room tops and other balconies and fresh air. Bed was big and very comfortable, we had very sound sleeps. And the bathroom was renovated and more than just functional.

Everything worked the way it should, air con, fan, fridge, kettle, hot water in the shower, internet, everything did not miss a beat. Our room was on the 3rd floor so we very thankful for the new elevator. Will definitely return, thank you.

The room was big and clean! Location was great. Host was sweet. The room was dark which was nice for sleeping. There was an elevator which was nice! We had a pleasant stay for 5 nights!

There were people a floor above us who were screaming a lot. Thankfully they didn't do this at night but it was still weird and it got crazy sometimes. Also there were cigarettes in front of our door every day. Not a huge problem but it shouldn't be there. It was unclear if and when the room would be cleaned. After a couple days we found a "please clean my room sign" to hang on our door in a drawer but it would be great if the host would have told us this. Minor things.

This hotel has a great location, the best redeeming quality that it offers. Although the property is in an old building and has facilties old and not modern, it makes up for its easy access to many places in the old town, etc. It is inside a small alley, and a small market is just outside this hotel in the morning. You can eat noodles, etc. from some of these local vendors outside at a price offered the same to the local people. Ms Lucy, the owner of this place, booked me a VIP Sedan on my way to the airport. The price is cheap at 280,000 VND and is comparable with grab price (or lower) but the quality of the car and the service is exceptional. She also refer me to a currency exchange shop just a 5-10 minute walk from her hotel, with very good rates. If you are not choosy and would just stay outside for most of the time, the place has acceptable amenities and facilities considering the very reasonable price.

Highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️ I had a one-week stay in Hanoi, and this was the place I was most satisfied with. The room rates are affordable compared to some other streets in the Old Quarter, yet the rooms are very clean, come with a private bathroom, and the price is very reasonable for such a central location. The host is incredibly friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. You can go out freely as the hotel operates 24/7, which is very convenient. The motorbike rental policy is clear and transparent!

The staff and location are great. Lucy was very attentive and responsive to our needs. Actually, this was the second time we booked this hotel. I didn’t like my stay the first time because I did not think that the facility was clean and noted that in my review. This time around was a great improvement in cleanliness of facilities. Please keep it up. I would recommend this hotel for its value. I wouldn’t mind staying here again.

The facility was quite old as some of the furniture and appliances. Our tv turns black without picture (but with sound) for a few minutes then comes back on. We did not inform Lucy about this but I’m sure she’ll take care of it had we done so. One other thing, on our last night, there was a strong smell of oil fried fish or something that lingered in the whole building. The ventilation wasn’t so great so it took awhile to dissipate. Not sure what can be done about it but thought might mention.

Location and bed

Room was OK, hot water 24 hours available. Good location 5-7 mins walk to Lake. Everything was ok as per standard of the property and Ms. Lucy was really a helpful person.

Room was smaller as compared to other property but as this is a budget hotel so no complain at all in this price.

I really like the location of the hotel, it is very near restaurants and shops. Lots of massage and spa in the area too. The staffs are very friendly, especially Lucy, who is very accommodating and helpful. The bed is alright and comfortable, the bathroom is basic but clean. Love the aircon, cools the room really fast.

The road outside is under construction, so it's quite muddy when it rains. I also suggest to fix some of the lighting, because it's quite dim in the hallways and the room. I also hope there are extra slippers for each guest.

Ms. Lucy is the best manager I have met. She was easy to contact, very helpful and always on hand when needed. Helped book our Hà Giang Loop and Hà long bay trips while also organising our bus to leave Hanoi. If the room was a bit more updated and the WiFi stronger this would be a 10. Cannot recommend this as an option any more, great value for money when Ms. Lucy is the one looking after you.

The lady manager was wonderful and respectful very professional the breakfast was very nice and they have a Landry service for 1usd per kg . Located in the heart of Hanoi so everything was near , massage coffe and shop Highly recommended
