Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bedroom was quiet, clean and comfortable and offered exceptional value for money considering reasonably central location. Heated indoor pool, small sauna and gym included in price were welcome additions.

Hit breakfast on a busy Monday morning when service probably busiest. Breakfast choice and quality okay rather than great, but based on overall hotel offer and price would still recommend.

We arrived with the duty manager, (Kenu?) booking us in; who was very welcoming and directed me for the parking. Our room wasn't quite ready; before long the housemaid corrected this and separated the bed into two singles. I personally loved our Welcome to The Rydges on the Television! Our stay was convenient for us and we were lucky to use the pool/spa and had breakfast delivered to the room; which was beyond our expectations. I will be returning to The Rydges Central in Surry Hills.

Just minor... The room wasn't ready, and I felt uncomfortable with the housemaid doing the room while we were in the room. The maid was polite and quick as possible. To my understanding booking in after 2pm the room would be ready.

Pool and Jacuzzi. Breakfast was good too. Reception staff were professional but also friendly. A blonde girl checked us in. She was lovely and very pleasant.

The sauna. I understand it can be tricky to have a higher temperature when area is unattended but the sauna was cool. Only about 40 degrees on the thermostat. The issue may be the door which isn't closing right but its a pity. It also could be the slits at the base of the door. Also, and I may be incorrect here but you could order breakfast off the al la carte menu for say cheaper than the breakfast but close to the same price. I would probably have gotten something off the al la carte if I only had to pay an additional subsidy onto the price of the breakfast. At the end of the day, I'm only going to eat a certain amount.

Greetings and welcome at the front desk was excellent. (Maria from Sth America & Marcus) The inroom greeting with tray of fresh fruit and bottle of bubbly was excellent. Thank you. Marcus helped me with a problem. Thank you. Appreciated the TV welcome. The breakfasts were amazing. Ivy welcomed me every day. (Thank you, Ivy) The location is excellent. It is 5 minutes walk from the central train station, and a bus stop is two minutes' walk away. The room was clean and warm.

I was awaiting a new passport to arrive from NZ. Maria helped by putting a note on my records. (Thank you.) The passport arrived on Wednesday. It sat at the front desk until Friday. They did not bother to inform me it had arrived even though it was addressed to me with my room number on the package. I chose room service for dinner so l didn't have to sit in a noisy pub environment to eat. Three times my meal arrived cold, meaning not heated through. The pasta in one dish was still fridge cold. I asked the food manager to come up and see me and make them heat up the meals properly. When l asked for my meal account, it arrived with "complained about the room service meals," which l thought was in poor taste.

Great location to explore - 5 mins walk to the train station or just walk to many attractions like we did. Bed was comfy, nice to have a couch to relax on, shower was good. Also loved the $10 credit if you don't need housekeeping everyday which you can put towards breakfast or at the onsite restaurant like we did for dinner and drinks! Also close to lots of great eateries - yum!

TV kept losing sound every time it was turned off - just needed the set box unplugged to reset it which was doable but just a little annoying.

After inspection on the last day of our stay we found that our daughter’s mattress was upside down. She had been sleeping on the underside of the mattress which is rough with rigid wire squares extruding up into her sheet. Once turned up the right way, revealing the smooth mattress she was comfortable. How is a bed is turned out and made like that? All 3 of us had to exit the pool on the Sunday after being burned by the chlorine. Red rash appeared that was on fire. We had to all wash under the shower to stop the burning. The chlorine was that strong it washed away the die in our clothing. Turning our black clothes brown.

Loved location for 2 reasons. Central Station was approx 100 meters from Hotel so easy to get to airport and around the City. Surry Hills is a fantastic area with bars and restaurants within walking distance (just have to negotiate a big hill but downhill all the way back. No guest laundry but a public laundry on the next block. Would definitely stay again! Oh and the beds are the best with plenty of space in each room with great room service. Fabulous restaurant and breakfasts a great start to the day! Thanks Rydges Team ☺️

There really isn't anything we didn't like.

Excellent buffet breakfast, with gluten-free starches, and a wide variety of food that even a gluten-free, pescatarian / vegetarian couple could enjoy. Jean appreciated the reception staff helping her, as a nearly-blind person who is unsteady and in danger of falls, to get inside. They were also helpful with getting her downstairs and to the car safely. They did help to make her feel safe. We liked the spacious room with a safely accessible shower with a bench and a handrail. We would both have liked a bath as well.

Jean’s husband, John is writing: While finding a disabled parking bay was not too difficult, I found the entrance and exit tight and slow to navigate. The result was that, every time I drove out, the outer door would shut before I could exit. I would have to call the main switchboard and wait a long time for someone to answer, who would then take take some time to work out whether the parking was paid for, or whether I would have to pay extra parking, (an unnecessary delay, as I had paid for parking in advance), and so I had to wait for a long time at the gate to get out. It also took quite a while for the door to open after the telephone call ended.

Really comfortable bed; huge room - cannot complain about the space or storage, and plenty of clean towels etc. Daily room service was great - one suggestion though; we were happy to not have it cleaned and towels changed daily, but we did need/want to have our milk and teabag supplies topped up, but were unable to get this done without the whole room being done.

Bedside lights are useful only to help find your way to/from bed in the dark. Don't expect to be able to use them for reading Same comment as above about not necessarily needing all the daily services - could there be a way to do a "select" for only the ones needed ??
