My recent stay at The Strand Motel in Townsville was a very pleasant experience. As the name suggests, the location is a major plus, putting you right on The Strand with its fantastic walking paths, beautiful views, and an abundance of restaurants and cafes just a short stroll away. It's the perfect spot for anyone who wants to enjoy the best of what Townsville has to offer right on their doorstep. While the motel is an "older style" property, our room was exceptionally clean and well-organized, which made for a very comfortable stay. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony that offered great views of The Strand, which was a lovely bonus. The bed was comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. We also found the TV and Wi-Fi to be reliable and worked perfectly throughout our stay. Overall, The Strand Motel provides excellent value for its prime location and clean, comfortable rooms. It's a no-frills, honest motel that delivers on what it promises. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a well-located and clean base to explore Townsville.

From the warm welcome through to the farewell wave our stay felt like being a guest in someone's home not "3rd room on the right, leave the key in the door". It's all about hospitality from the directions to local supermarket to eating options and ready response to the need for a printout. The location is five star, right on the Strand within easy walking distance of pubs and a united nations of eating options.

This is an older building, so the rooms are not palatial. Immaculately clean well-maintained, nonetheless.

I don't normally take the time to write reviews because I travel so much and stay at so many hotels. But honestly this place was amazing. The location couldn't have been more perfect, the manager was super friendly and helpful, and the grocery store was just two blocks away. Best of all, The Strand - the best place to walk in town - was right across the street!

It would have been nice to have a small bottle of shampoo. But I always carry extra so I was fine. The place is perfect!

Management was kind enough to grant us a very early check-in due to the bad weather... I'm sure that's not always possible, but it shows flexibility and care for their customers. We appreciated it so much.. And the beach view! Our room was clean, and all amenities within were in good working order (kettle, air-con, fridge, tv, remote etc.) It was also quieter at night than we expected it to be. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Location was terrific, easy walk to supermarket, dining, musuem, botanic gardens, rockpool, etc. Pool looked clean but we didn't swim during our stay as it was raining. They have obviously put a lot of work into refurbishment at this motel. Good value for location and amenities.

The room felt very small at first , but really once we got used to it we realized it didn't need to be any bigger.

The Venue I needed the most was difficult to get to on public transport from the moterl. However, that was not the fault of the motel. I had come a different time ( and stayed at the Stand Motel) but the circumstances were different this time and I did not know of the changes.

There was nothing that I did not like. The stay was comfortable and easy.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate an early arrival for a funeral. They were so good with pointing out alternative parking if the spot was filled. The room was clean and you could smell how clean it was upon walking in. The added convenience of kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge/ freezer. A kitchen sink and tea towel were also very welcome.

The fact I was there for a funeral and got sick meant that I couldn't explore as much as I would have liked. All out of anyone's control.

It was situated opposite the beach with a lovely breakfast cafe. I could sit and look out at the ocean and the walkers along the strand. It was a lovely clean comfortable room with a nice little pool at the back. The lady managing the desk was very helpful and friendly. It was also very close to the restaurants, cafe’s, takeaway and ice cream shop. It was very convenient to have Coles and a few shops directly behind the Motel. I would definitely stay there again.

Unbelievable central location, Cole’s basically next door, highlights of the town over the road, did not need a car. Very friendly accomodation .So unlike most motels a real North Queensland attitude.

We could not fault it. For a very old motel. It was a North Queensland experience. Maybe rowdy could be a problem. Management did everything possible to make our sta comfortable. Did not have a sharp knife to cut a tomato.

Great location, right on the Strand. Lots of cafes/restaurants nearby. Beach across the road and a lovely walk. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Kitchenette with kettle, toaster and microwave and a sink. There was also a washing machine for guest use.

View out our window was of a vacant block with remnants of a building, furniture and rubbish.

I was given a ground floor unit. The amenities in this accommodation are old, clean and comfortable. The kitchen area has a proper sink, the refrigerator has a separate freezer and is really good. The unit is convenient to a hotel where lunch and dinner can be had, as well as other food outlets close by. This accommodation also has a small Cafe attached for breakfast, brunch or lunch and closes st midday but opens early. Reasonably priced and the food is varied to suit all diets. This is the second time staying here and more then likely will do so again when next travelling north.
