This was my first stay in a back packers and I loved it! The staff were very friendly, the bathrooms and common areas kept clean and there was a very eclectic group of guests staying for many different reasons. I was there as my son was playing in the Basketball Queensland State Championship tournament. The location was good - short walk to Woolworths, a chemist and places to eat out if you’d like. I opted to cook for myself as there was a fridge in every room(!) and good cooking facilities onsite. Lots of places to hang out if you want to - both inside and out. It was such a pleasant place to stay that I will definitely consider it again if I’m ever back in Townsville!

I have travelled consistently in hostels for the last 5 years and this was the best hostel that I’ve experienced. The amenities were all functional, clean and they had clean hand towels and clean bath mats. This alone speaks volumes about how well this hostel is maintained. The pool is magnificent. This hostel was a breath of fresh air on the journey of hostel life for a seasoned backpacking traveller.

Not much to mention here. The floor is a bit uneven in some places. There is an unsightly trailer full of wood in the driveway behind the gate, so you see it often. These are small blemishes on this lovely lovely hostel experience.

I was in a 6 bed, and apart from 1 we all had single beds/ or were bottom bunk which was lovely. We also had TWO full size fridge freezers in the room which was amazing!!!!! And we had a private bathroom, air con and Wi-Fi. There was a pool but I didn’t use it while I was there so can’t really say. Staff were lovely. Kitchen was in the middle of renovation so can’t properly review that but they had hot plate ovens, and a microwave. Could do with a few air fryers in my opinion but otherwise I was happy. Plus I saw a really cute possum so that was a bonus haha. It’s also not too far to get to catch the greyhound or get a ferry to Magnetic Island.

Nothing really other than would like them to get a few air fryers. Wouldn’t mind a chair lift to make lugging all my luggage upstairs easier haha, would also make it wheelchair accessible.

I had my own room with an a/c, ceiling fan, my own fridge, and a sink for $71NZD per night; absolutely no complaints. The kitchen and laundry were very good, as were the toilets and showers which are separate. I stayed for two weeks with no drama or problems from anyone, it was quiet and cool at night and the doors are locked at 21:00 so everything is secure; the location is excellent, this has got to be one of the best places I've stayed in ever!

A/C could do with a clean, it's cheap so you can clean your own room because they have everything if you need it.

Great facilities including a big pool you just need to sign a waiver at reception first. There is a kitchen but it was about 40•C. Bedroom was nice with only 4 beds and a fridge! Staff very friendly and showed me around. Free tea and coffee which was a nice touch.

Location. 25 minutes walk from ferry which isn’t too bad but nothing much else really to do nearby.

Lots of open spaces for socialising, very friendly staff (and not just the reception team, the housekeepers too!) and comfortable beds. Located close to a variety of shops/cafes and next to one of the walking routes up to Castle Hill lookout. Plus the free tea and coffee is a nice little bonus!

The free shuttle on offer is great but the timings didn't seem to align well with the Greyhound coach to Cairns, a popular service. An additional receptionist would be good for when someone is not at the desk, a couple of times I had to wait for someone to return.

My room and all the others like mine have a large nice new fridge in the room, air conditioning, very comfortable bed. The toilets and bathrooms are beautiful top standard and new, like those lovely big showers. Beautiful friendly young backpackers, a lot are busy cooking in the kitchen in the evening and they look like master chefs, their food looked great.

A bit noisy on Friday and Saturday night, but I did have earplugs to help a bit.

The staff was very friendly and ready to help out where needed. There was a large kitchen, pool and outdoor area. Castle hill (goat track hike) was just around the corner. The room was very basic, but fine.

There was quite some noise coming from the outdoor area, which is to be expected from a hostel, but it quieted down after 10 pm. The beds were not super comfortable and rather small.

We stayed here one night before and one night after our trip to magnetic island. Our twin room was clean, spacious, and even had its own refrigerator. The outdoor communal spaces were really lovely for congregating and meeting people. There were social events arranged by the staff most evenings. There is a free shuttle between the hostel and the greyhound/ferry station a few times per day.

Kitchen was a bit small for the number of people and got very very hot. Not enough toilets and showers - there was only one of each for women / men on our corridor and I did sometimes have to wait.

The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. Thanks for lending out the hairdryer and helping with the luggage. The room is very clean and nothing to be complained actually. The location is good. The Goat Track entrance is literally across the street. Good for morning workout.

The bed is a bit soft to me, but that's my personal preference.
