We loved the location. The Stamford is so close to everything you need. We found it to be in close walking distance to great food, cafes, and the Princess Theatre (we saw Annie!). We loved the pool; it was so warm, light filled, and it wasn't overpopulated. The spa was also nice and hot. The rooms were incredibly spacious! I forgot you got a kitchenette, lounge, and bedroom in their standard rooms. It was quiet at night; great soundproofing and black out options to make the room super dark. The bed was comfortable, and the glass elevator was a fun journey for my daughter! We will be back (again).
The Stamford is a classic hotel; yes, it's a little dated but you can't compare its quality to some of the new hotels popping up around Melbourne. We stayed at the Dorsett the weekend before, and it was much more expensive for an overpopulated shoebox. We won't chose new over classic again! We found the check-in process to be a little busy at the Stamford but it didn't impact our experience.

The room was lovely and the staff were nice, good central location
The buffet breakfast wasn’t as good as I thought for the price point and the internet didn’t work so we could not stream to the tv during our stay unfortunately.

The location was great close to some cafes and the tram stop. The room was big enough. The bathroom had good lighting for makeup etc. Enjoyed the big spa bath. Liked the fact that you could cook some simple things like fry eggs except didn't expect to have to ask for the cooking utensils box - thought it came as a standard but it did come. Had access to the indoor pool and spa, which was lovely BUT the showers in the change rooms of the pool area did not work and need to be fixed. There is a restaurant downstairs which is handy.
Room service was inconsistent. The standard dropped over the 5 nights we were there for. Had to ask for more supplies such as coffee capsules for the coffee machine and dishwasher soap.

Fantastic location, close to all the shops and some top restaurants. Room was surprisingly roomy and very comfortable. The staff were so friendly and very helpful.
Only slight negative was the house keeping. They took all our dirty cups and saucers one evening for some strange reason leaving us with nothing to use for tea, we never had milk in the fridge and they never replaced tissues, toilet paper or tea used. This was all over 4 days so we were continually asking reception for things (who were super nice and helpful by the way). Maybe a checklist for the staff would remind them to replenish everything on a daily basis. But overall this was not a major issue and I will definitely be staying again.

It was comfortable, clean and close to everything we needed.
There was a kitchenette but there were no pans to use in it. I understand they would like you to use the restaurant but we couldn’t even scramble eggs if we got a bit hungry - which we assumed you could do in a suite with a kitchenette. There was also only two of everything - cups, mugs, plates, cutlery etc but no dish cloths to wash them with, if we wanted a second cup of tea or coffee. There was a dishwasher but we were only given one dishwashing tablet on arrival and our last day. I had to buy dish cloths and detergent to be able to have coffee in the morning and a few cups of tea before bed. Placing the tea towel over the bin in the cupboard is also not hygienic.

Loved the elegant design/ interior. The lay out of the room. Loved the buffet selection/variety. Cleaning staff were exceptionaly friendly as were the wait staff at Harry's Room was spotless. Bed was super comfy. Loved the spa!
Considering the nearest car park is the next block over from the hotel. Staff advised us to park out the front of the hotel to check in, drop bags off, and acquire gate code for parking. 3 check-in staff at reception yet waited 10 minutes before being served. Almost 15 mins in a no parking zone. I Am praying I don't get fined from council. Staff should consider a more prompt check in before suggesting people park in no parking zones. Also, though nothing can be done about this, for the amount of rooms at Stamford (approx. 308) a bigger pool/spa area would've been nice. It was very crammed. Some people having to go back to their rooms because it was too full.

After a very bad experience from both booking.com customer service and a hotel booking that denied us entry to our paid for accomodation because we didn't check in before 5pm we were greeted by the most friendly and professional staff at the Stamford they took the bags to our room for us while we parked and upgraded our room to ensure we had a nice time while in Melbourne after the horrible experience we went through earlier that night. We will definitely be back the hotel was beautiful the staff above and beyond friendly and the hotel itself is in the perfect location.
That the sauna was no longer working and used as a storage cupboard ☹️

Location was so central to everything. Easy to get in and out of. The room was so great with the extra lounge area. Meant we could enjoy the room and not be on top of each other. You have to ask for kitchen cooking equipment if you want it. Check in and out was easy. We stayed in the west wing, was a little dated but still very comfortable and enjoyable. Was a queen size bed (not king).
We tried the happy hour at Henry’s bar downstairs and didn’t find the service to be great and had to wait a long time and wouldn’t allow us to sit at a table (that many many were available) and had to sit at the most uncomfortable seats and table because we only having drinks.

I liked that the studio had a separate lounge, with a sliding door, fantastic for those who have partners that snore long & loud. Also that I can fit & sleep on the couch. Some extra bedding/ light weight blanket in the closest would have been good. Liked that your names were on TV screen to welcome you. Made me feel special , expected & important.
I could not manage to lower the temp in the room, way too hot for me to sleep (20). Followed instr on the wall & also on the TV screen, spent a long time trying to fix to no avail. It was well past 1200 so I choose not to contact reception. Surprisingly quiet, except for the guest's themself, have to be given instructions on holding the door handle to close doors not allowing them to bang shut,,,thinking of all the other guests in their rooms!!

Great position and close to great restaurants and bars
We decided to go to Harry’s on Saturday around 5pm for happy hour. The service was below expectations to say the least, when we arrived we noticed a number of customers complaining about the wait time and were requesting refunds. We ordered drinks and had to wait for the happy hour cocktail, when I followed up the staff they said we’ll get it to you straight away. After approximately 10mins they said it was ready then my wife noticed the barman drink from the mixing cup after he served the drink which I believe is against RSA regulations. We left soon after and the disappointment from all customers was evident. It’s disappointing that Harry’s impacted the brand of Stamford Plazza
