Excellent place to stay for a few nights around Salzburg. Located a little outside of the city (about a 20-minute drive), but there is a nearby bus station. Rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is really nice and helpful. Breakfast is small but very diverse and of high quality. Suitable for those who plan to go for trips outside of Salzburg, and less for those who are more interested in the city.

It would have been nice to include in the price spa facilities (since there isn't anything else going on around there). A sauna is available for an additional €15 or so.

Great owners! Great breakfast! Comfortable room with nice touches everywhere. Not right in the city, but at a convenient bus stop with free bus pass. Good walking paths to the Festung from the back.

Restaurants in the area are mostly closed Mondays. With rain in the area, we couldn’t get into several restaurants in the city—everyone was inside eating, and we were told we could eat at 9pm. Bussed home and drove to a local pizzeria, not really reachable by those without a car. None of this is the fault of the owners, just cautionary for others.

Many who let out apartments and rooms expect the highest possible rating. The rating system can be deceptive. Only once around the world have I actually considered the highest rating possible. That is Ballwein. Why? Because this pleasant, kind, warm and welcoming couple has managed to pull off something exceptional despite no other staff than themselves. From our arrival to the unavoidable departure everything was amazing. The place is located just 2,5 km from Salzburg centre, which you easiest reach by bus. The apartment looked brand new. The breakfast had a presentation and taste that was second to none. So, Daniela and Simon, Congratulations!

This was our favourite stay in Austria! Daniela and Simon are the most incredible hosts and you almost feel like you are part of their family. They are very friendly, helpful and gave us lots of great recommendations! The place itself looks like it’s been cut out of a movie, so idilic, quiet and peaceful. You are surrounded by mountains and nature but somehow still have easy access to the hustle and bustle of the city. The bus stop to the city center is right outside your doorstep and doesn’t take longer than max 10min. The bus is never crowded, always on time and very clean. The room we had was absolutely stunning, cleaned to the highest standard and the terrace had the most incredible views! It is very modern but still has the feel of a cabin in the mountains with great attention to detail. The shower was very powerful and the bed was divine. So comfortable! The breakfast was also heavenly and plentiful with lots of options to choose from and all very delicious. Daniela and Simon always put a smile on our face every single morning. I was in love with Daniela’s beautiful outfits! Thank you both for making our stay truly memorable and without a doubt we will be back to your beautiful place, we really miss it!

Stayed for 3 nights with my mum in this very lovely accommodation, the owners (Daniela & Simon) were so welcoming, very helpful and friendly, and their kindness is great, smiling all the time especially Daniela ☺️, asking if have some need, gave us great advice about getting around and answered our questions tirelessly. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable, semi-rural setting with great views on the greens and mountains, and only ten minutes by bus from downtown Salzourg. Delicious breakfast, varied and tasty.

There was nothing to dislike, everything was fabulous.

Exceptional boutique B&B (I would say boutique hotel). Top spec, fabulous location with bus outside front door that takes you to centre and also exactly where all tours start (saltmine, sound of music tour, Eagles Nest etc). Most importantly, beautiful family that work so hard and genuinely care to make your stay amazing. Traditional yet modern, mountains on tap and the most wonderful breakfast. Couldn’t be better. Thank you for having us - and junior manager (cute daughter) was just adorable!

Nothing to not like.

From the moment my wife and I arrived, Daniela & Simon were extremely helpful and made sure we were given all the information we needed to get around Salzburg and visit the sites we were interested in. Breakfast was outstanding - my fried eggs were cooked exactly the way I like them done!

Everything was perfect! The ONLY improvement would be having a Nespresso coffee machine in our room.

Beautifull country house not to far away from town, but bus station is just in the front of the house (no more than 50 metars) and we got a free tickets for public transport . The owners are very polite and gave us all informations we needed. Brekfast is very good. All recommendations for stay in Salzburg

A truly enchanting host, delightful cuisine, and a fairy-tale city. We highly recommend this accommodation. The distance from the city center is just right for a pleasant walk, and there is also a convenient bus line nearby. All necessary information was provided by our host, who was extremely professional and well-organized. Additionally, we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast in the morning.

Charming, quiet and delightful; fantastic breakfast with a wide variety of options, including made-to-order eggs! Spotlessly clean and comfortable, in a semi-rural setting with great views, and only ten minutes by bus from downtown Salzburg. The hosts were so warm and welcoming.... and very helpful with travel suggestions, restaurant reservations, etc. The bus stop is right out front, and there's a great deli across the street for delicious pick-up meals.

I don't think it could have been much better. We loved everything about the property. My only feedback is that it's unfortunate they only accept cash payment (no credit cards), as we had to scramble to get cash from ATMs before arrival (the payment information on the Booking.com page wasn't clear to us, which is the fault of the Booking layout. The reservation is held with a credit card, which that is clearly stated. However the note about cash payment at the property was in tiny type at the bottom of the page, and should have been more prominent) but that was a small inconvenience for such a wonderful experience.
