Within close proximity to Federation Square and Flinders St Station, Double Tree By Hilton Melbourne was not only perfectly located, but in addition they really do lots of the small things exceptionally well and these things all add up to what I can honestly say is one of the best customer service experiences we’ve had throughout the many hotels we have stayed at worldwide. A fresh baked cookie on arrival, friendly team at Reception, a fantastic breakfast crew, (lovely buffet breakfast) and housekeeping who also did a great job. We were greeted warmly and treated well by everyone during our recent 3 night stay.

Minimal space to store clothes, ok for short stay, would struggle for longer stays. There was only a bedside table on one side. There was plenty of room for one on each side. No biggie, just a small inconvenience which is easily addressed.

Location: across the road from entrance to Flinders St Train station and very close proximity to several tram stops therefore the whole city of Melbourne easily accessible - either by public transport / walking eg NGV / galleries, Immigration Museum, State Library, exhibitions, shopping precincts, theatres, Sea Life, restaurants, sporting grounds; plus lots of other ‘entertainment’ venues. Newer areas such as Docklands also within easy reach. Easy access to Southbank via a pedestrian bridge across the Yarra River. Room: large with comfortable bed; large bathroom with shower access for ‘disabled’; curtains provided total darkness; air-con easy to operate and very quiet; Restaurant - variety of dishes in menu; bar area created ambience in reception area; room service - food arrived in a timely manner; Reception: staff were friendly, organised and accommodating (eg could leave luggage after checkout before an evening flight); communicated via texts at various times during my stay which enabled a couple of aspects to be addressed satisfactorily. Choc cookie was a welcome start!

Interior designers / decorators should consider the inclusion of more shelves in the bathroom which would make it a lot easier for quests to see / use what they need on a daily basis.

I stayed here for my 30th birthday, and the moment the staff found out about this, they pretty much went all out as much as they could - complementary wine and upgraded the room to a higher floor. The staff in general were just excellent at making us feel welcome both on arrival, and every time we left and came back to the hotel. The location as well is utterly amazing, and you can get nearly anywhere in Melbourne within 10-15 mins, either walking or by tram. Having Degraves Street around the corner also helps in the way of cafes/restaurant access. The room itself was modern and spacious with a SPECTACULAR view of the Yarra River and Southbank - the windows were huge too, with massive blackout windows. The bed was super comfy, although it did take me a couple of nights to adjust!

This is just being nitpicky, however I do wish the toilet paper and tissues were nicer and a higher quality. I also found the AC/heater to be a touch finicky. It was also odd that the bathroom window opened to a workplace board meeting room.

Location. Very comfy bed and pillows. Good bathroom supplies. Elevators were always quick to come. Staff were all very professional and easy to talk to.

During the cold weather when we stayed the Air con kept going too cold just as the room would warm up nicely. Cups too small for a decent cup of tea. No plain little biscuits to have with cuppa. The bedside lamps were awkward to switch off and on & it was easy to bump your head into them as they almost went over the side of the bed. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant as the menu did not cater to a variety of dietary needs which was disappointing on the extremely cold evenings when we would have preferred to not go out.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and accomodating! I’ve never booked and stayed at a hotel myself, and it was such a breeze of a process. The room was small, but exactly what you need if you’re only staying there to sleep. The staff were so kind and friendly, it was the highlight of the stay, despite only interacting with them when we checked in and checked out.

There is nothing I would deduct points for. The hotel clean, price for the rooms is reasonable. The staff are amazing, I can’t say that enough. Only thing I’d deduct for is location. Location is perfect if you want to be close to everything! It’s brilliant. However, obviously given that it’s across from the station, it can be a little daunting to walk around the area at night. That is at no fault of the hotel, just something to keep in mind if you are planning on booking here.

Location is great Staff are friendly

At check out, they tried to charge me an extra $33 for GST, even though at check in the day before I’d already paid for the room. I think the guy doing the check out was possibly a new staff member. I used the secure parking at 300 Flinders St and I validated my parking ticket at checkout. The hotel charged me $33, however when I got back to the car park, their standard rate was only $20. Not sure why the hotel charged me more than I would’ve paid had I not validated my ticket with them!

The room was very quiet and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The "location" presumable refers to the hotel location, which is very accessible to trams and trains, and an easy walk to all the city shops. I went to a show at the Rod Laver arena, a tram right outside the hotel door took to me to the venue, and an easy walk back into the city down through gardens and along the river, was all very easy.

There was absolutely nothing that I didn't like.

The location is fabulous, very close to Flinders Train Station and St Kilda/Swanston Street Trams. It’s an easy walk to Collins Street and Bourke Street Mall, for shopping. The Arts Precinct, Federation Square and SouthBank is an easy 5-10 minute walk. The staff were very helpful and friendly with a very quick check in. The rooms were very quiet, clean and well set out with the beds being extremely comfortable. The breakfast was perfect and there is a good selection of foods to choose from. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Nothing.

All the staff were really pleasant and helpful. It was a great location and the bed was really comfortable. We were out for most of the day until 4pm one day and the room hadn't been serviced during that time. We didn't mind as a lot of hotels now are offering eco service where you can choose to reuse your towels and not have your bedding changed every day- an initiative all hotels should be looking at introducing.

The room service menu was really limited which was disappointing and there were no free bottles of water- something we are used to receiving in most good hotels.

The location was great and staff went above and beyond. It was my birthday and I was travelling alone, and they bought me up a little gift pack. I was very grateful and felt very special.

The only critique I could give is that in the gym, there are not enough attachments for the cable machine. Oh, and at breakfast, you can order eggs to be cooked to your liking, so I asked for hard poached but they failed to do that two mornings in a row. But these are very minor things.
