Incredibly convenient and central location where we could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, including to the SkyBus Terminal. It’s within an laneway that is lined with a fantastic variety of restaurants, cafes and even specialty hot chocolate. Below the hotel is also a highly rated Thai restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.

Only minor but one of the elevators didn’t go to our floor so sometimes it took a while to reach our room.

I've stayed here several times over the years and quite like it. The location is amazing for a decent price and the best thing is that it is pretty sound proof, plus the blockout curtains are great. These reasons are why I keep coming back - there's not really any views (in the rooms I've had so far) but I'm happy to forego that if I'm not being charged too much, and the city sounds are kept out of the room! Plus it's an easy walk to the Mall, Marvel Stadium, the River, Flinders Lane...anywhere really. This time though the tiles in the shower looked mouldy in the grout - probably stained but they need updating (578). Otherwise the room was decent and clean with a microwave and really nice glassware! Wine glasses, and drinking glasses. It's a no frills accommodation in the way of not having its own restaurant, but the location with restaurants all around make up for it. Staff were friendly every time I walked through the reception area. Beds have always been top notch here too. Thankyou

The apartment was quite spacious so room to move around. Situated in the Melbourne CBD it was close to all transport and an easy walk to the main city shopping area. The twin beds were comfortable enough but close together with one right against the external wall which made the bedding difficult to tidy up.

Unfortunately, the hotel is situated in a lane (not the cleanest and tidiest of lanes) between Little Collins and Collins Streets. For two female occupants, the wardrobe space was very inadequate as it also housed a set of small drawers, the ironing board, iron and an electrical switch box which took up much of the hanging space. We are keen about helping the environment and although we left our towels on the rails (to save replacements), the staff seemed to ignore this and all our towels were replaced on several occasions even when we mentioned this to the cleaners.

As always the Staff were awesome! We come every year and it's the food choices in the alley and how close this hotel is to everything. The room was big enough small enough to fit me and my friend for the week.

The second bed had a little dip in the middle.. my friend felt a little uncomfortable - we brought a spare pillow (as we drive down from Sydney) - she used this to fill in the gap (hehehe). Second the fridge was on 1 setting.. frozen! (not that I didn't like it.. but I had to defrost my water before I can drink it hehehehe) this isn't a negative.. it was a plus in my books!

Location was great close to the Bourke St Mall and Flinders Street Station. Many restaurants nearby and cafes. Parking was off site but virtually across the lane.

This is well run good for money hotel. It always has been and I have stayed at the hotel on many occassions.

The parking instructions in the email booking.com sent after the booking are not complete. This caused me to have to pay the casual rate rather than the discount rate, an additional $21. The first set of instructions is incomplete and does not contain the discount code. If you follow those instructions you will not get the discount. If you scroll down to the instructions provided by Causeway 353, this is not an obvious thing to do, it is very clear. As far as I can tell this a booking.com issue. The helpful staff at Causeway 353 explained they have no control over what booking.com puts in their email. They were apologetic however could not correct my overcharge and cannot change the booking.com email.

If you're looking at coming to Melbourne city for the first time I highly recommend staying here. Everything was in walking distance, and lots of shopping and alleyways to discover. Great coffee and cafes just next door! One doing Allpress ( a favourite of ours) Getting here was easy, we took the skybus from the airport (about 20 mins) and it was only a 10 min walk from the skybus terminal in the city to the hotel. The staff were wonderful and our room was comfortable and clean.

The only thing was they held $100 as a security deposit upon check in and it can take up to 30 days for it to come back to your account. I know this is a normal thing for hotels to do, but I feel $100 was a but steep, considering they copy the credit card details anyway. But honestly, it was really not an issue if you plan for it anyway.

The location is very strategic and easy to find, near tram and train station. The hotel didn’t serve breakfast but there are many place to dine around hotel from breakfast until dinner time. The staff very friendly and helpful. I requested for early check in cause i arrived around 5 am, and when i arrived at the hotel fortunately there’s room that still vacant so we could take a rest after an early morning flight. At the basement of the hotel there’s one of famous thai restaurant doo dee paidang. Overall, the room is clean and tidy. I really recommend this hotel if you wanna travel just around CBD area.

Its just you can still hear noise from other room but not that loud just a slight noise

I love this hotel. Right in the middle of Melbourne action with all sorts of restaurant, shopping and public transport all within a stone's throw. Rooms are quiet and very comfortable with a very usable bathrooms (our room even had a bath!). The staff are among the friendliest and most cheerful I have encountered in any hotel.

There is very little not to like at Causeway 353. If I had to point out anything, it would be that check-in can be a little slow if there is a crowd being processed at the front desk, but I guess that applies to most hotels. Also, the key cards can be a little finicky to operate, not always registering when inserted into the door locks or the lift.

The motel has a fantastic location in a laneway joining Collins and Little Collins St with a tram stop right out the front on Collins/Elizabeth St. The room was really clean and comfortable and amazing value for money considering location. Good cupboard size and good bathroom size. Comfortable bed. Amazing cafes outside the front door in the laneway.

Be warned that this place is in a laneway and blocked in by other buildings so there is little light entering the window. If you need light and don't want a closeup view of a brick wall then don't stay here. We chose to stay here because we only needed somewhere to sleep, and not to hang out during the day. The only other issue was that the air-conditioning fan speed wasn't great so we felt cold when it was on low and even with the temperature elevated. We found on some cooler nights that we had to elevate the temperature enough to kick it into heating mode rather than cooling to stop the cold blast.
