The service was exceptional. Very friendly staff. Me and my girlfriend felt taken care of from the moment we arrived, until the moment we left. The food was great! we could not help ourselves and ordered roomservice dinners and lunches more than we originally planned to do. The breakfast was as advertised and we could even tweak it slightly (more coffee, fresh milk, no black pudding ect.). We always got breakfast with room service and the staff was always smiling and very nice. The room was as advertised and very accurate to the images on booking.com.

Not much comes to mind. We were hoping for a icemachine in the hallway to cool our drinks, but there was none. BUT the hotell let us have a ice bucket so they solved that. The bath was small, unfortunately, and not appropriate for a 6,3 person. The location was a bit out of the way. We used a taxi to move about and once walked from the trainstation which was 15 minutes away. I didnt mind the walk though, and consider it a minor issue.

this is an excellent hotel if your travelling with your dogs. the grounds are fabulous 👌🏼 plenty of space to walk your dogs & they are also allowed in the bar area. the rooms are spacious & we had a good size bathroom. plenty of wardrobe space & there was a kettle & hairdryer in the room.

things were looking a little tired. I had a hole in my towel in the bathroom. my velux window would neither open or close. it had a blind but I had to climb on a chair to reach it, very unsafe!! There was also some form of water leak on the spa building, water poured out all night and with not being able to close the velux window it kept me awake most of the night. I did book a executive family room but I'm not sure that's what I got as it only had a double bed.

Polite, engaging and helpful staff at reception, in the bar and at the spa. Clean comfortable room and facilities. Fabulous choice of pillows. Lovely grounds. Continental breakfast was lovely and fresh, with good options inc GF.

The fizzy water spigots did not work on any floor, the staircases were a bit tired and in need of decoration, the carpets were a bit worn, and there were glasses and debris left in the lower landing for the whole duration of my stay. The cooked breakfast was mediocre, the coffee was awful, i was not offered toast, and there was only a single bagel left in the breakfast room.

Very friendly and helpful, we had our small dog with us who was very welcome , did not mention a £20 charge for him when booking , but that's fine as the room was very spacious for him and the grounds were enough for a little run fir him in the morning

We didn't mind sitting in the bar fir breakfast with having the dog, but had to ask for things and got no fresh juice , but breakfast was good what we had , there are never enough condiments in room and no pen with paper, just little things , nothing major , we could have used resteraunt, but didn't want to leave dog in room .

Definitely Andrew and all the staff team - couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and efficient Beds are very comfortable Food delicious and nicely presented Breakfast good quality produce - is it local?

Some basic maintenance would help. Taps on sink very tight and stiff to turn on and off Please change your coffee order in the room - Nescafé is awful and ethically questionable Heavy curtains covering radiator meant room was cold unless curtains left open Maybe add some nets for privacy Having to go outside to get to some bedrooms and function room - very cold!!

We didn’t get to experience much of the grounds, but they looked beautiful. The reason we didn’t get that experience was my husband ended up in the ER / hospital. And I applaud your caring and competent staff for their help in that crisis, particularly Claire at front desk. She was SUPER! We think we were extremely fortunate to accidentally have found a place near a good hospital. Again, deep thanks to staff!

Things are a bit worn but minor compared to the value of the location, the grounds and the excellent staff treatment.

We booked this hotel because it was closer to the airport without going through Edinburgh traffic. This review it will not be fully representative of all the services as we dint us the pool, spa, or dining hall. The grounds and exterior of the house were beautiful and full of old world Scottish charm. The staff was pleasant, personable, and really helpful. The bed was super comfortable. We were leaving before the breakfast service opened so the Hotel made a to go bag for our morning journey. Overall, for our last night in Scotland it was lovely.

The property is in a lovely setting. It is a beautiful building with lots of character and charm. All the staff that I encountered during my stay were down to earth, chatty, kind, helpful, friendly and polite. The room was huge with all the facilities that are required. The bar was comfortable with a good range of Gins. The restaurant was ambient. The dinner and breakfast were delicious The spa was lovely, very relaxing.

Some of the interior just needs a little TLC. A lick of paint, correcting and broken or worn fixtures and fittings and it will definitely go up a level.

Generally very pleasant - lovely setting - lady on reception with a north eastern English accent was so helpful and friendly - decent breakfast included in the price but certainly would have been upset if i had paid the price separetely - not worth that at all although it was ok - continental setting was ok but not worthy of the price tag Quaint and original bar areas

felt there was a difficult atmosphere in bar from staff - felt sorry for her and there was a delay in getting served.

Lovely old building steeped in history. Peaceful gardens. Very central location. Staff were friendly and thoughtful. Ideal for a relaxing getaway or business stay

Hotel is cashless but Staff had massive issues with cash machines not working causing mayhem in bar/ bar meals. Constant issues with beer/cider pumps outting bar staff under pressure. Restauraunt/ breakfast room up 2 flights of stairs, not ideal for walking stick user...however they will serve in bedroom
