A hotel with an overwhelming charme. Situated right beside the cathedral in the medival city it breathes history. The chauffeur service is prompt and efficient, the staff is helpful, friendly and unobtrusive. Absolutely lovely. The garden is beauftiful, the terrasse is a booklovers dream just to sit, read, enjoy the surroundings and maybe just to cool down dip into the pool. The breakfast buffet is exeptionelly good and leaves nothing to wish for. The bar is the cosiest we have ever been to.

The place is about history, charme and medival times. But beware: If you want to keep the 5 stars, sometime soon you will have to paint the bathroom window... renovate the marble around the toilet... and do something to squeeking chairs ...

Beautiful spacious suite with great amenities. Spectacular views from multiple windows. Dined at La Barbacane one night. The dinner, in general, was outstanding. (see below) The maitre de maison was very gracious. Guillaume (William) at the desk/concierge was also very gracious, helpful and charming. They are both valuable assets of the hotel and restaurant. An excellent breakfast to start the day!

We had the Menu Signature at La Barbacane. It was excellent with the exception of the pigeon which was essentially raw, tough, and lacked flavor and seasoning. It is the course featured in a photo on the website which is puzzling. In the beautiful bathroom, the lighting for the vanity is very harsh.

Absolutely charming. The service was impeccable both from the front desk and at the restaurant. The food is unbelievably delicious. This place is top-notch.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Medieval city of Carcassonne! It was a wonderful experience and the hotel was very nice. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend staying inside the city, there are lots of shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good also

We had dinner the restaurant at the hotel on our first night, and though it is a very nice restaurant, we didn't really like the menu, and really struggled to find something to eat and found it very expensive. We cancelled our booking for the next night as there a lot of other places to choose from and we had a lovely dinner that didn't cost a fortune at another great place not for to walk. I definitely would not take children there!

Hotel is located within the walls of the medieval city so the location is excellent for exploring the history of Carcassonne. Parking lot (nightly fee) is outside the walls, but hotel provides transportation to and from. Historical building with picturesque and pleasant outside sitting area for meals and drinks.

Because the hotel location is in the old city which is on top of a hill, it's a significant downhill/uphill hike on gravel to the more modern parts of the city where you might want to go for lunch or dinner. I am sure there are transportation options for disabled persons between the two which we did not explore in detail.

An historic venue provides a lovely overall feeling as a guest. There were some employees that went above and beyond - especially the porters and front desk. The lounge was perfect - leather chairs, bookshelves lining the walls, and a great list of wines to choose from. Our bedding, the robes and towels were lush and cozy.

We were shocked by the excessive charges for the breakfast buffet and for 30 minutes to use the jacuzzi. The room we stayed in was cold - they did bring us a space heater. The stopper in the bathtub didn’t work well, although the tub looked inviting. And there were other imperfections in the room, such as a loose bedpost and the wall by the bathtub was unfinished with dark spots along the base. For a 5 star hotel, we must admit we were disappointed.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. Very nice pool. Wonderful multicourse gourmet dinner on the patio overlooking the castle.

There is very little that I did not like, but just as a message to management, there needs to be more attention to the people at the pool. Towels don’t get cleaned up too quickly, the beverage orders are not taken, and dirty glasses are not removed promptly. For a five star hotel like this, there needs to be a better service at the pool.

During part of our stay the weather was beautiful and warm. On the Saturday we sat around the pool (sun bed mattresses were provided) - on the Monday afternoon we wanted to do the same - the weather was the same but we were told the pool was closed as it was October! It had been October on the Saturday too when mattresses had been provided. Breakfast was a little disappointing - the tea was nearly always less than hot; bread for toast was non-existent (though the French loaves they make themselves were lovely) - just not in a toaster. The scrambled egg was runny and the bacon undercooked. Shame as such a nice hotel.

A beautiful hotel inside one of the most beautiful medieval and fortified castles in the world, what more could you ask for. The facilities are top notch, beautiful rooms, gardens overlooking the ramparts. The rooms are perfection. One of the most amazing places we've ever stayed and we've been a lot of places. I had a perfectly undisturbed sleep and the breakfast was fantastic!

The only thing that was even a little off is the shower. It's very narrow, difficult to stand in and the little mini European style half door lets water get on the floor if you're not exceedingly careful. But, even the shower itself is beautiful. But, I'm not complaining and I know that this is the style in Europe and I'm used to the USA.

The hotel has a well deserved 5 star rating from the French authorities. Our room was spacious with a nice ensuite bathroom and it had a lovely view of the new town and the old town castle. The hotel reception area is large and has several sofas to sit on whilst you wait for the reception staff to check you in which is pleasant after a long journey. The public rooms are large and tastefully decorated and the pool area looked nice although we did not use it. The pretty garden is adjacent to the town walls and it is an oasis of tranquility with lovely views of the castle. The food in the hotel's Barbicane restaurant is excellent and we recommend the evening tasting menu with wine pairings, it was expensive but worth every penny. We commend the chefs and their team. All the staff were very helpful, the waiters put much effort into explaining the tasting menu in English to us for which we were very grateful. The valets spoke good English to us and managed our luggage well not only by promptly delivering our suitcases to our room on arrival but also they ensured that our cases were available at the hotel car park (outside the wall) when the taxi arrived for departure back to the airport. The Reception staff also happy to speak to us in English as well as French and they went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant and comfortable stay. Overall we had a lovely stay in this quaint and charming hotel.

The service outside on the terrace on one day of our stay was rather slow, only one waiter was available for quite a few tables.
