What can I say!! Wow!! The hotel itself is located in a fantastic spot. 5 min walk to the shopping street, beach/water access across the road (and tourist info booth!!), old town port 5 mins walk to the side, all the tours pick up from this hotel - making it super convenient. The hotel also provides lots of extras, such as fruit bowls, books & sunscreen at the rooftop pool. We also received a lovely welcome bottle of wine. All lovely touches. Bedding/linen/towels & toiletries are excellent. The cleaners do a fantastic job, every day you feel like you’re coming back to a new room. The front receptionist Alexis, who we saw most days was unbelievably friendly & helpful. She organised us an extra clothes dryer for our stay, and always had a warm smile and friendly greeting. We enjoyed daily the morning breakfast. Usually you can get bored, but each breakfast was very delicious and the cooks/chefs do a wonderful job. The cocktails at the pool were amazing!! Speaking of the pool, it’s just the perfect temperature! And watching the sunset go down, was just heaven. You can tell all of the staff go above and beyond to ensure hotel guests have a memorable stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

There was construction going on next door during the day, but I didn’t mind. I enjoyed watching the builders walk from the rooftop pool!! Was interesting!!

The Premium Deluxe Sea View room was the best option for us . À authentic Boutique hotel , the SAN SAL did it for us . The room was spacious, modern full of natural light with a large balcony overlooking sea. Bedding was super comfortable with quality pillows . The roof top pool to boot with a view and lounging area . The bar was class all the way , especially in the evening with pool lit up contrasting the 90 degree view of the ocean / harbour and old city of Chania . The breakfast was outstanding with service to match .it was delicious. Parking for our car was included and right in front of hotel in a secured area. The folks here take the service very seriously and will make every effort to make your stay at the SAN Sal as smooth as it can be . We want thank the Gen.Manager ,George Chochlakakis for running a very tight ship . The staff were wonderful , kind and devoted to customer service . A special shout out to Harris & Alexia for over and above devotion to making our stay special. Bobby. T Montreal . Canada 🇨🇦

It was perfect 😉

We were considering a few hotels in Chania and are very glad we chose to stay at the SanSal, it was fantastic. The hotel was beautiful and the sea view room had a gorgeous view, though unfortunately there is some construction happening on one side of the hotel that affected part of the view (but not a big problem and it wasn't too loud in the morning). Breakfast was also excellent and had great variety. But by far the best part was the staff. They were all very friendly and were extremely helpful during our stay, helping us arrange a car rental and private taxi and even packing a breakfast for us when we needed to leave early in the morning to catch a ferry.

Great view and super friendly stuff. You could basically see the sea while laying on your bed!

There was one poor guy at the breakfast doing his best to please everyone. Hotel must hire for sure more people! The quality of the window frame was kinda poor. Even with every window closed, you could hear everything from the outside environment. I also don't understand why hotels choose to install glass doors on bathrooms. Not many people like to watch or to be watched while in the bathroom.

-Excellent location, short walk to both city centre and beach -Fantastic staff, really friendly and helpful -Big bonus to Sansal for car hire, we were able to book a car directly with them that could be picked up outside the hotel and returned to the same spot and saved a lot of hassle! -Bar food was excellent -Large balcony with view of sea

-More storage in rooms, stayed for 9 nights and didn't have sufficient draw space -Need to have better seals for balcony doors, if you can hear your next door neighbour talking with doors shut then it's a problem -Would recommend having a non smoking section for beds by pool as you are right on top of one another

Staff were phenomenal. Very very helpful. Manager was extremely generous and helpful. He facilitated every request. Took extra effort to help us out during the time of need. Ann- Marie is amazingly knowledgeable. Zoe and Aproprolis at the breakfast were very pleasant. Welcome drink was out of the world.

The in house kitchen should have had more choices. Maybe a small gym. Pool on the terrace could have been heated. And There was no facility to cool the room - was told this is because it is winter. So the temp in the room was not convenient to sleep.

Everything! All members of the hotel staff were incredibly friendly whether at the pool, breakfast, reception or house keeping. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of Greek classics, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. The cocktails on the roof top bar are also lovely - not to mention the views. The hotel is located in the ideal place in close walking distance to the old town in one direction and the fisherman harbour the other direction. The hotel could not have been more helpful in recommending great places to eat and even helping to organise in room massages. We had the best time and will be back!

Nothing - we had a great time! Only tiny downside is the roof top pool at certain times can be difficult to get a sun bed as there is only 5 or 6 but there is a massive beach a 5 min walk away so was not really an issue at all. It was really pot luck because some days the roof top was completely empty.

Where do I start, this hotel is superb for many reasons! Firstly the location is excellent, right next to the harbour and old town and the only hotel I know of that has a pool in this vicinity. The decor is clean and modern and the hotel is spotless. I was worried that the pool and surrounding area may get too crowded but it was perfect. However the most impressive part is the staff, they are all lovely and willing to do anything for you. The hospitality is some of the best I’ve come across and I’ve stayed in many nice hotels all over the world. From the ladies who service the rooms to the breakfast staff who greet you in the morning, they all greet you with a smile and are all wonderful. The reception staff are excellent and gave us some really good recommendations on where to go on day trips, where to eat and some lovely bars for pre/post dinner drinks. And I can’t forget the staff at the cocktail bar by the pool, real good fun and they/George (the general manager) will randomly come around with free shots or drink. This was a very classy touch and much appreciated. We felt like family not guests!! Breakfast was ample with a mixture of hot and cold items, the hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner but you can order food at the cocktail bar next to the pool. Drink and food were reasonably priced too. There is some construction work next door as a new hotel is being constructed but this is beyond their control…

Could do with the option of a little more shade by the pool

Everything about SanSal was perfect! The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. We were first met with Anna Maria at reception who just set the tone for the hotel. She was very welcoming and always ready to help us with places to go. The manager is always around and leading a helping hand for staff. He seems very hands on and also very friendly. Konstantina in the bar upstairs was amazing. Everyday making us cocktails with whatever alcohol we preferred! ( she knows her stuff) - and many more staff that I did not catch a name. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my time, and myself and my partner can both agree this was by far the best one we’ve stayed at. Breakfast is a small selection but everything you need in the morning. The location could not be better. We were 5 minutes away from old town with the harbour and plenty of restaurants and tourism attractions. On the other side we were 5 minutes away from nea Nora beach. Which has sunbeds with services from the nearby restaurant. And crystal clear water. So whatever kind of day we were feeling we had it right on our doorstep. Ofcourse we ventured out to other places further away. Would recommend getting a car for Crete as it is a huge island with some many things to see and quite far away.

If I had to put one thing I would say, the TV connection was poor. There was one English Channel which was BBC news 24/7 . No netflix - and only YouTube however it kept cutting out and freezing. Obviously whilst on holiday you are less likely to watch TV anyways. However we like to put something on before we go to sleep. Most of the time we just used our phones connected to the hotels WiFi which worked a treat.

The property was located 5-10 minutes walk to both old town and harbour, Nea Chora beach and also services like laundromats in the city. Very walkable to food, shops and fun. The pool deck and bar were enjoyable including the food and drink options. The room (202) and balcony felt large and airy with a drying rack on the balcony for wet clothes. The team came in twice daily, first to clean and then an evening turn-down. There were a few onsite car spaces and some on-street spaces for our rental car which was fantastic as parking in the area was difficult. The team held onto the keys and moved the car around as needed to fit all the cars in. They also loaned beach towels in a tote bag for our beach trips. The welcome drink and explanation of highlights in the area was amazing too.

We had one issue with the shower not draining and starting to flood our room one evening. The team were great about immediately replacing all the towels and cleaning the floor. The next morning we mentioned to reception again and the manager George came up within 10min, checked on the problem then ordered in a plumber who fixed the issue while we waited on the pool deck. Issues sometimes happen in hotels and what’s important is how well the team responded. This team was great, checking afterwards that we were good. The rest of our stay was super comfortable. Thank you!
