Over the years, Ariel House has become my 'Go To' Bed and Breakfast address in Dublin. In fact, if Ariel House is full, I would prefer to change my travel dates than to try to find alternative accommodation. I particularly like that it is situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood with a mix of gracious, tree-lined Georgian streets and pretty Victorian terraces. And only a short stroll from the Aviva Stadium and a DART stop and walking distance to the RDS and Dublin City Centre - if a walk appeals on a sunny day. Often being a solo female traveller, I feel very much at ease and safe when I venture out in the early evenings to dine in the nearby restaurants, or meet up with friends in a local pub. I really love the attention to detail and the quality of the interior decoration as well as the views over the garden to the back of the buildings. The dining area is very pleasant with some window tables enjoying views over the gardens and there is an abundance of choice of foods from both the buffet and the menu that offers different courses and vegetarian options. I have always found all the staff to be extremely attentive, welcoming, warm and friendly and they go out of their way to help out in any way they possibly can. Ariel House has become a home from home to me and over the years I have gotten to know some of the lovely staff.

The breakfast staff are extremely attentive and efficient. So I have discovered a technique to slow down the arrival of the different courses ... I gently explain that I have not yet made my 'Menu' choices while I enjoy the my tea and toast as well as some of the cold options from the generous buffet bar. Otherwise, there can sometimes be a bit of a backlog of courses waiting for me on the breakfast table ... :-)

- Great location - no need for a car as all transport is at your door and the walk to central Dublin is easy. - Fantastic property - lots of Irish period features. - Nice touch with the honesty bar and complimentary afternoon tea with cakes. - superb breakfasts. - Comfortable beds and good quality bedding. - Front desk staff are beyond helpful and friendly.

- Bathroom needs updating - old bath and shower with cracked fittings. - Noisy locks for rooms - key system that you have to keep turning. Especially noisy at night! - Need blinds on front facing rooms as it's a busy road and you feel a bit exposed once the blackout curtains are open. - Not sure how the housekeeping system works but we did have to request clean towels and cups etc during our stay - it was not cleaned during the 3 day stay. - Breakfast staff do need to brush up on their English. It was difficult sometimes to get a breakfast order across! Having said all of the above - when the staff were asked for help they were excellent but there were a few gaps in service.

From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed by Engin, who greeted us with such warmth and kindness. He even surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, which made our stay extra special as we were celebrating a birthday. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and full of character - reflecting the hotel’s charming boutique and period style. Breakfast was delicious, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary water, coffee, and teas throughout our stay. The drawing room was a peaceful spot to unwind, and the location near Ballsbridge was ideal. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely love to return!

The location is a big plus beside the Aviva Stadium and the rapid transport train station. However the staff are so friendly and helpful that they must be rated the biggest assets. The bedrooms of this old historic house (two houses. actually) feel luxurious and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast selection is impressive. Onsite parking is free but some drivers require more than one space so you might occasionally have to use pay parking on the street if you arrive late.

Delighted to see that major refurbishment is close to completion. Hopefully the two electric showers that have defied previous efforts to entice them to spray water liberally will finally flow generously.

The breakfast was fabulous, the drawing room lovely, and the guest room quiet and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and professional. Ariel House is exactly how I imagined countryside style from TV series. The location is great, just a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest Tesco or other supermarkets, and 30-40 minutes to the tourist sites. I was lucky with the weather during my stay in Dublin, and a 30-40 minute walk back to the hotel each day was perfect. The breakfast was amazing, especially the Irish soda brown bread (I'm not sure about its name sorry...) with jam, and the granola bowl. I also received little gifts for choosing the “clean the planet, not my room” option—macarons, cookies, and a small pack of granola, which is one of my favorite memories from Dublin.

We had the most wonderful stay at Ariel House for our anniversary! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the cozy, stunning interiors. The Victorian charm paired with modern touches created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our room was beautifully decorated, and we felt right at home the entire time. What truly made our stay unforgettable, though, was the incredible staff. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary extra special. From thoughtful little surprises to personalized touches, they really made us feel like VIPs. It’s clear that the team at Ariel House genuinely cares about their guests’ experiences. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our special day. Highly recommend!

Everything was perfect

Location-wise, Ariel House is an easy walk from the centre of Dublin, and very close to several other areas, and the area itself is a lovely and charming one, with good public transport links. The DART station is perhaps 200 metres away at the very most. The building is a real period piece that feels more like a country house, and the breakfast area (and breakfast itself) is very good. Our room was large, and very quiet as it was at the back of the property. I am not sure if rooms located elsewhere would be any noiser however, as the main ambient noise was from seagulls and the DART trains and the traffic is relatively quiet. I have no issue with more modern hotels, but Ariel House has a real charm without seeming outdated or worn. We would happily stay here again. I should also give extra appreciation for the staff who retrieved my mobile phone from our room, after we had left, and helped hand it over to a taxi driver who brought it to the airport, it was a lifesaver. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming however.

You may find parking tricky, depending on what you are driving and which spots are still available. If you're not a confident parker or have a larger rental car then there are still suitable parking spots, but not all of them will be practical. However, free parking is still a major bonus so this isn't such a big detractor.

It was so charming and in such a beautiful area. It was close to everything and we felt safe at all times. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Having breakfast included was such a nice touch.

It was a little awkward going into the drawing room and hanging out there either str as gets. None of the guests were friendly. I would suggest putting instructions on how to use the coffee machine. We didn’t know how to use it and we noticed others didn’t either. I would have liked having flat sheets on the bed instead of just the comforter. The comforter was too warm and it was warm in the room at times.

The breakfast was top rate. Homemade jam, delicious options and menu. We were able to check in early for a fee and received an upgrade. The room was nice, clean. The person on the front desk was kind enough to carry our bags up the stairs, which was wonderful and surprising. The front of house was also helpful in booking a taxi for us, and giving us a takeaway breakfast. We loved the local area, removed from center of Dublin with great dinner options.

There was a very loud party on our floor, which we did not appreciate. Also the shower was very strange, only turned on with a switch so when you wanted to turn it off, the fan also got turned off. The shower was very close to the wall so a shower / hair washing was difficult.

Very beautiful house with a boutique feel. Staff very friendly. Upgraded on arrival to a suite which was very pretty and comfortable. Located in a lovely part of town. Breakfast was incredible everything you could want and more with the best and freshest ingredients.

Parking! Was a problem very limited spaces outside the hotel and the alternative was street parking with a charge through the day free at night but required an 8 am dash to pay the machine. Bathroom was spacious but in need of modernisation. Disappointed as our coffee cups and glasses were not changed I had to wash them each day! I could have asked for them to be changed but when you need them you need them! Bottled water provided on day one of our 3 day stay but that was it. And I had to ask for tea&coffee supplies to be replenished. Seeing as this hotel only offers breakfast it would be nice if there was a fridge or mini bar in the room. There was an honesty bar in the drawing room but with very limited stock.
