Gorgeous property with incredible history, great location, an experience for all to enjoy especially having the pub on site, was convenient and an experience in an old world building. The breakfast and dining area was a highlight we felt like royalty and would happily do this every day if we could, the food was delicious.

Unfortunately we received a phone call late at night from a male manager about some shoes being left in the hallway near our door and asking us to remove them, it didn’t feel very nice as our baby was asleep and we were all woken up by it. Maybe this incident left a bad taste in our mouth. We did pass this feedback on to the property. U understand it was against a policy they had but it was the way it was communicated to us that wasn’t courteous. The rest of the service was amazing. Can’t fault the restaurant staff and the lady at reception Tina she was lovely and helped us with anything we needed. They charge for room service fees by the way, 8 euro to have anything delivered. We didn’t know this until we received the room service bill.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is in a great location. The room, while lacking character, was warm, clean and had good amenities. We had dinner in the gastro bar the evening of our stay and the food was excellent.

The decor of the room we had was a disappointment as it lacked the character we had expected. We have stayed at the hotel in the past when the rooms were furnished/decorated much more in line with the rest of the hotel (foyer, bar, etc). The breakfast was also disappointing. The continental breakfast on offer was small and lacked the variety one would expect from a hotel of this calibre. We felt somewhat shoehorned into ordering the hot breakfast which was extra.

Very quaint. It has a ton of character. The rooms were nice and it has free parking, which was key. They have about 10 spots, but they never seemed full. They give you old school keys for the rooms. You have to turn the key in every time you go off property. The bar/restaurant was great and also has a ton of character.

It’s not in the heart of the city center, but it’s close enough. The bathroom is small, but they did their best to maximize space. I recommend bringing your own hair dryer because there’s is mounted to a drawer in the desk. It was very hard to use because you had to stretch the coil cord towards the mirror while also pressing the power button to keep it on. I have very thick, curly hair, if I finally gave up and threw my hair up in a bun.

Location, setting, staff very welcoming and professional, hotel beautiful & quirky! We loved the hotel, with minor tweaks it would be 10 out of 10 as it was very close!

Small things, Hard uncomfortable pillows on the bed. Breakfast could’ve been fantastic however the poached egg and beans were cold and the sautéed potatoes on the vegetarian breakfast (although fine for me!) were pre peppered and my friend being an extremely plain eater who doesn’t season her food nearly choked as her palate cannot take spice of any kind. As I said these were very small things as our overall experience of the hotel was excellent and we’d definitely return!

The ambience of the hotel as soon as you walk in the door is lovely. This continued when we entered our room which was tastefully decorated and gave a feeling of calmness. After a day travelling it was welcomed. The check-in was faultless and the lady on reception could not have been more helpful.

An observation rather than something I didn't like. You need to be aware it's out of the city. It costs around 15 Euro for a taxi to the city but my recommendation is taxi or bus. Traffic is a nightmare and there are so many one way streets! T

The hotel has a historic legacy, the rooms are sympathetically designed to reflect this making it a beautiful spot for a weekend break. It's a pity our schedule would only allow for a one night stop. We experienced exceptional service from the Gentleman Night Manager! He made sure we didn't go to bed hungry for which, after a hectic day travelling, was very much appreciated. Breakfast was outstanding. Stunning restaurant, will definitely be back.

The wash hand basin in the bathroom was cracked-not a major issue. Our stay and breakfast was all pre-paid, fact missed by the breakfast service staff-this detail is something that should be checked by the staff before a verbal payment demand causes unnecessary embarrassment-training needed. Had to pay either 100 Euro in cash or 50 Euro on card as a security payment on arrival-something I wasn't expecting or altogether happy with, considering we were only staying one night. I opted for card and it still takes a few days after checkout for the reimbursable to appear.

Generous and clean room with very good facilities. Quiet as the room is well separated from bar/function rooms. Large and comfortable double bed. Excellent, friendly team at reception and in the bar/restaurant. The pre-paid breakfast is highly recommended. The hotel is located adjacent to the Grand Canal, with DART services nearby and buses practically outside. It's a pleasant walk (c. 15-20 mins) to Nassau Street/Trinity College via Merrion Square.

No dislikes!

Room was really comfortable and well heated for such an old building - bed was huge, bathroom and shower were lush. Coffee and bottles of water plus extra toiletries were replaced every day.

The only annoying thing was not being able to take your key out with you - the keyring was extremely heavy and we were told that the idea was to drop it off/pick it up from reception every time we left or came back. It went smoothly but would of preferred a less heavy key ring so that we could easily come in and out of the venue without having to stop at reception each time. Breakfast was good - my partner had the Irish breakfast which he loved but I was a little disappointed with the pancakes. Overall a lovely stay though and would definitely say it deserves 4 stars!

We felt royally treated here. The staff saw that we had a 2 year old with us on our reservation and without us even asking they set up a crib for her. As we were checking in, a staff member who looked like she was headed out for the day came by to our car to help us bring our luggage all the way to our room in the very back of the hotel. Would stay here again in a heartbeat considering how we were cared for!

Service at the restaurant for dinner was extremely slow (1 hr to get food after sitting down) which was rough with our 2 year old.

The employees of the Schoolhouse Hotel were marvelous and lovely to speak with whether for items related to our stay, daytrip suggestions, or just random conversations. The room was spacious and comfortable-perfect for two travelers and honestly more than enough for a small family. Everything in the room was perfectly curated to maximize comfort. A bit away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist areas, but that allows for a nice stroll back during good weather like we were fortunate to have during our stay. The grounds of the nearby canal are perfect to just relax by and in addition to the lovely gastrobar, there are numerous pubs and restaurants nearby. My partner and I are already planning our next stay!
