Beautiful suite near St. Marks Square. Awesome bathroom with step-in shower. Huge tub. Marble finishes were stunning. We were greeted with a bottle of bubbly to welcome us! Outdoor garden patio for guests is great. You can enjoy drinks there. Not that you will be in your room much but tiny TV for such a large suite.

While the room is huge, it is off the dining area. In fact there are two suites off the dining room. Also, the small wine bar is right next to it as well. The bartender was sick several days so the bar was closed! No backup bartender. Our room located at the second level got all the noise of the adjacent restaurant areas which is loud. No sound proof windows for an old structure.

We had 2 fantastic nights at the Dona Palace, with 2 rooms (on level 2) - one of which had a small terrace overlooking the garden and canal. The air-conditioning was excellent as it was very hot. Rooms and beds are comfortable, though rooms are not particularly large. Had all the necessary amenities you would expect. Wonderful breakfast set in a beautiful room. It is quiet at the hotel, but it is set in a fabulous location, right near San Marco. So close to sites, shops, restaurants etc. Caught a water taxi from the hotel, which is a great bonus. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

5 minutes to St. Mark’s Square, and the waterfront. Close to restaurants, attractions and gondolas. Breakfast was very good and breakfast staff was great. Also the bar in the outside garden was very nice, right on a canal and the gondolas went by constantly but no singing which was a disappointment. Staff was very helpful and gave us suggestions where to go for dinner etc. Front desk staff were very helpful also with directions, maps and luggage arrangements.

For what the room cost ($400 per night) it should have had a view and/or a balcony. Transportation to and from the hotel would have been nice. We had to book our own, private water taxi from the airport which was very pricey ($250 plus, one way). Booked a shared water tax for return and had to pay 45 Euros to transport our luggage to the water taxi stand plus 75 Euros for the taxi fare, too far to taxi stand with 2 large suitcases and two carryons for seniors.

This is a beautiful hotel in the perfect location with a fantastic array of restaurants, bars and shops and of course St Mark’s Square literally footsteps away. Our room was very spacious and absolutely spotless with a view of the Bridge of Sighs and the canal. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The reception staff were welcoming and really helpful, as was the porter who showed us to our room. The breakfast staff were fantastic and the breakfast buffet was delicious, well presented and had everything that we wanted. The bar was quiet but that suited us and has a friendly barman who makes an excellent amaretto sour. The garden is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting with our drinks watching the Gondolas go by. I would highly recommend staying here.

Stunning! We walked into our room (the Royal Suite) and my wife had tears in her eyes the room was so beautiful. From the tile to the giant murano-glass chandelier, everything was exquisitely appointed (the shower & tub were wnderful). We had a lovely canal view, and the hotel is in an outstanding location, close to Piazza San Marco, but far enough away that you can dodge the crowds. Service was outstanding and friendly, breakfast was delicious, as were the drinks we had on the hotel's canalside terrace. Highly recommended.

The Royal Suite is adjacent to the breakfast area, which was convenient, but a bit odd (soundproofing from that door was good though). There is noise from the canal, so light-sleepers should be aware of that.

Everything! Venetian features, large and roomy, clean, wonderful views, central, easy access.

There is not much not to like about where we stayed. The brekky staff were helpful and friendly, really lovely. How-ever, I must say that the host staff or service desk attendants gave off a veiled air of “contempt” :{ I didn’t get the impression that they really liked their job? They more tolerated our questions…which I’m sure they’ve heard hundreds of time before…& feigned interest when we would try to engage them in conversations. They were polite and very helpful in the end. Overall a perfect location to see Venice from and the room we stayed in was gorgeous with a memorable view of the Bridge Of Sighs!

Location is perfect, close enough to St Marks square whilst being far enough away to escape the crowds. Our room, the Duchesse exclusive was absolutely beautiful, it’s huge, well furnished and has lovely views over the canal, would most definitely recommend. Breakfast is self service buffet with plenty to choose from . Gorgeous little outside terrace open from 4pm where we sat watching the gondolas go by with a glass of bubbly after a full days sight seeing, doesn’t get more perfect than that. All staff were very welcoming and friendly, thank you Dona Palace, we will be back.

Not really a complaint but more of a suggestion, the outside terrace only has a few tables and is open to non residents which meant at times there was no room to sit there for a drink. Perhaps keep a couple of table for residents only as other hotels in Venice do, as we discovered.

The hotel is very conveniently placed. Near St. Mark’s Square but down a small quiet calle backing on to a canal.A good hub for walking to every district & to vaporetto stations. Despite its proximity to some of Venice’s major tourist spots ( the city was still jam packed in mid October)our room was quiet & adequate for our needs. It is quite small and functional with no public spaces apart from a breakfast room, bar & downstairs garden- but for us that wasn’t a problem.There are many good( and some poor) restaurants within a few minutes walk. Housekeeping was excellent with fresh bedlinen and towels as required. An issue with the shower was sorted quickly once reported. The usual gripe about insufficient hangers for 2 people but plenty of shelves and drawers. The breakfast buffet was fine; fresh fruit and breads and pastries & some cooked items ‘though these tended to sit in a ‘hot’plate and weren’t always hot.Service was quick if you wanted to get out, or accommodating if you wanted to relax & dawdle. Staff were friendly & helpful.

We had an amazing stay - such a convenient and wonderful location - and we were able to get all 3 rooms together. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were cozy, typical European size except for the suite which was very spacious and well spread out. Our rooms were on the same floor as the restaurant and the staff was so accommodating to let our family hang out there together. The water taxi pulled right up to the hotel dock so there was absolutely no lugging around of luggage which was awesome because we had quite a bit. The lift takes everything right up and down so again a plus. Very effective air conditioning - wonderful plus for the summer!

The sinks are massive without any counter in a very small bathroom (regular rooms). We managed just fine but it was pretty tight - just about enough space for one person to move around.

The property is so well situated, a couple of minutes walk from St Marks square. It has a beautiful terrace on the canal where you can get fabulous cocktails from the lovely bar staff and a pretty 2nd floor bar area. We didn’t see any other hotels with a similar outdoor space. Our room had a balcony overlooking the canal where you can watch the gondolas go by. Absolutely a special hotel and wonderful staff special mention to Stephanie on reception who helped with all my queries but all the staff were fabulous and couldn’t do enough, thank you.

The only thing I think could be changed is the breakfast tables and chairs. They are very small and soft and being a tall person were too low for me to be comfortable, but this is a small thing and I can’t fault the rest of the hotel or staff, it was a wonderful stay.
