We weren't really sure what to expect, when we arrived to Siena. But as soon as we saw the wiew and then walked through the door to see the outdoors front area by Alma Domus, we knew this was special. We were greeted by the most friendly woman in the reception and she explained everything and recommended good places to eat, as we arrived late and were hungry and tired after 9 hours of travelling. Our room was lovely and when we opened the door to our small balcony, we were simply blown away by the beautiful view. It was just stunning. We had paid a little extra for a view of the town and it was so worth it. The Dome on the hill, all the old houses up the hill, the view of the streets.... And the atmosphere. The hotel is perfectly situated. You can get to all the good places within 5-10 min. But it's not crowded with tourists. Which is one of the reasons I booked at Alma Domus. Breakfast was the biggest breakfast, that we experienced on our whole trip. So couldn't complain, even though we are not used to such a "sweet" breakfast. Most of it was cakes etc. But I guess thats just the Italian way:) Service at breakfast was very good as well. I loved how the hotel is connected to the convict. I sat in the outdoors front area one day, and I could hear them singing during a service in the church. So beautiful. We will def use Alma Domus again, and we will recommend it to anyone going to beautiful Siena. When we were there, the neighborhood that the hotel is situated in, Contrada Dell'oca, had just won the Palio di Siena. So every day and night, they would celebrate and party and walk around drumming and having fun in the streets, showing their flag off. We just found this intriguing and loved the history.

Great place for a day's stay. The breakfast was excellent and varied. It is close to the city center and the main attractions. The staff was very very nice.

The hotel is located in the ZTL part of the city, so it is impossible to park nearby. It is possible to leave your car for a short time nearby to drop off your luggage, but you will need a park disc. If you have a car, the paid parking - at Parcheggio stadio - is a good option as it is 5-6 minutes away. It costs 26 euros per day.

This property is excellent but you need to make sure you book it with the good view. I stayed in room number 9, and only certain rooms have the exquisite view of Siena, but you can pay more to get it. And it’s definitely worth it. Facilities, the room was clean, and spacious, very good value for money. This room cost me €130 for a night. But I’d book it again every time, if I was to return to Siena, I’d come back to this hotel. The food was excellent, and had a really nice breakfast options downstairs. The location was great, right next to a nice church and a short walk to the city. The staff were really friendly, and pleasant, very professional and accommodating. There’s also a communal room with books and a quiet place to relax, away from Siena.

It’s hard to say anything negative about this, I toured all through Italy for 8 nights, and this hotel was our favourite. All I can say is there’s a lot of uphill walking generally in Siena, so make sure you wear good shoes. Heads up, you cannot park at the hotel, parking is restricted generally in Siena. So you need to go to the outskirts of Siena city, and then take a taxi to the hotel, if you’re planning on hiring a car over there.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel — everything went perfectly from beginning to end. The view from our room, right in the heart of Siena, was absolutely breathtaking. The location is ideal, in the Contrada dell’Oca, just a 5-minute walk from Piazza del Campo. Breakfast was complete and had plenty of options — more than enough to start the day. I would have just preferred it to end a bit later, as 10 a.m. might feel early for those tired from traveling. The room was clean and modern, and the staff were friendly and always available. I totally recommend this hotel!

The hotel is in a quiet location on the edge of the walled city, close to the Basilica Caterina di San Domenico, which is worth a visit. The hotel is reached via steps and transport cannot get next to the hotel as it is a pedestrian area; but it’s a short walk from the drop-off location. Our room on the 4th floor had a fantastic view over the city and the Duomo. The reception is on the 4th (top) floor; the breakfast room is one floor down. Breakfast was traditional continental fare with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size with a narrow balcony. Rooms on lower floors may not benefit from the view as the street outside is very narrow. We were looking out above the adjacent buildings hence, the view. All room facilities worked as one would expect.

There was some external noise late into the evening but it was a holiday weekend so maybe that had an effect with revellers staying out late and enjoying the moment.

Friendly, helpful staff here who gave us lots of advice on restaurants and local trips etc. Extremely good value for money with a pretty decent breakfast included - sometimes included breakfasts can be rubbish but here they were pretty good indeed with fresh ingredients like croissants and freshly brewed coffee to order, and plenty to choose from. Great location 5 mins from Piazza Del Campo, easy walking distance to all city sites etc. Rooms basic but clean and comfortable with decent shower and bed and great views of the Duomo. We would definitely return here on our next visit to Siena, highly recommend!

Nothing to note

Fantastic and unique location in Siena with amazing views of the Duomo and tower from balcony. Close to the center but just off to the side so that the location is quiet and has the vantage point for the views. Near to great restaurants, a grocery store, bars and a good gelato shop. Room finishings aren’t fancy but are extremely clean, comfortable and well thought out from a practical perspective - there is plenty of shelving, plenty of clothes hangers in the armoire, everything works (A/C etc.). I would have been happy to stay for longer. Loved the balcony with great views. Staff is kind and helpful, from the front desk concierges to the housekeeping staff. Front desk staff recommended a delicious restaurant and helped us find a walking trail/camino.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and there was a good range of food and beverages available at the buffet breakfast. It's very close to the bus station and taxis and nowhere is too far to walk to in the city with many restaurants close by. A minor point was that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but there were some vending machines where you could buy drinks and snacks.

The bathroom was a bit small as was the shower cubicle and could possibly do with a revamp.

The location and the view out of our balcony was one I will never forget. We slept upside down with the doors open so that we could wake up to the city and Duomo outside of our doors. It was truly magical! HIGHLY recommend this stay! We stayed in a few bnbs and this was our only hotel—also the one star hotel made us a bit hesitant but was honestly such a good surprise 10 star experience and one we will never forget! Staff was also very nice and helpful!

Central for all the best sights. Amazing views just outside the hotel. Interesting building. Steeped in history.

Just a wee thing! No eggs at all at breakfast time, not even a boiled one! No proper toast either. All other food was great, though.
