It's a great hotel! Feels like we are in Hawaii or tropical vibe place. I like the location as it is 3mins walk to Bruce Mason Center - great for attending an event. It is also near the Takapuna Beach. The staff are so friendly especially with our requests. They remove rubbish and change towels everyday. The room has complete kitchen facilities so we're able to cook food.

The pool is not heated at this time of the year :( They said they it will be heated in October if I am not mistaken. The shower I think is an old style as it is attached to wall and you can't move it around. There's no centralised heating so you have to use the portable heater around the room and to the living room.

Good location and kitchen and bathroom were very good and the room was spotless.

We stayed for 3 days. 3 adults and received a small milk carton on arrival. On the second day we asked for another as there was only enough milk for a few teas and coffees. Were told the milk is only given to guests when they arrive and a second wasn't available. I think the lady saw the look on my face and said she would see if she had a spare?. Pretty stingy as I doubt it would cost more than $2 The bed was super bouncy and too soft for my liking. The gardens are stunning, tropical feel and would be great in the summer but the room was very dark as the plants block out all sunlight.

Very comfortable bed and pillows, great shower. Handy to the beach, cafes and restaurants. Have stayed here before over the years

Wasn't impressed with the full payment being taken from our account three days prior to check in when, upon booking, it was no deposit and payment at the property, it left us without enough money to pay for fuel in some far flung place down the country and pay for our Napier accommodation (I luckily managed to get wifi at petrol station to transfer funds) There were no tissues anywhere in our room and no air conditioning- there was a small oil heater which was too small to heat room fast enough. No fresh milk, only a small UHT. Ceilings need a freshen up, they looked mouldy around the edges. Some V J paneling over the top of the very dated spray on rough texture would modernise it without spending a fortune.

Emerald Inn had everything we needed Full kitchen with hob and microwave. We stayed in a ground floor apartment and had full access to the pool and garden area and behind reception there is a lovely seating area with kitchen area too to use as a communal area. James the new manager was very helpful and the staff were all very friendly. 2 minute walk to the beautiful Takapuna beach and to the bus stop for a 20 min ride into central Aukland We would definitely use this accommodation again xx

Nothing to dislike

The staff was incredibly helpful with ideas for where to go without driving (since we were traumatized Americans getting used to driving on the left!). The location was great, walk to restaurants, the beach, etc. Rooms were small but comfortable, outdoor patio was very pretty

Our room was close to the road so it was a bit noisy. Since there was no A/C we kept the windows open which was perfectly fine but also added to the noise factor.

An amazing jewel tucked away in Takapuna! The tropical-style gardens made it feel like we were in the Cook Islands—so peaceful and relaxing. It was incredibly quiet, offering the perfect escape. The staff were exceptional—warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. Best of all, it's within easy walking distance of town, the beach, and the Bruce Mason Centre. Couldn't have asked for a better location or experience

Their communication sucks. We asked about laundry service prior to arriving and have requested an invoice via both chat and e-mail and have received 0 response to any of my messages (across a 2 week period). Not acceptable!

The accommodation was luxurious, very comfortable, spacious and clean with all that we needed for our short 1 night stay. The person who helped us check out was friendly and very helpful offering recommendations for our onward travel and local cafe for brunch. We had a great experience at Emerald Inn and would love to return! Less than 5 min walk from the beautiful Takapuna beach, a popular swimming spot.

Access to beach but unfortunately pollution made swimming unsafe (for 19 other Auckland beaches too). Quiet and landscaped. Good cleaning. Towels available at the pool and I used one for the beach. Access to restaurants and a supermarket (selling alcohol) 2 mins drive away.

Wifi - they need a booster as it was often offline. Maybe it is all the concrete in the buildings? New Year's break meant the recreation room next to the pool closed at 1pm with the receptionist. Pool should have a net to collect leaves etc A dirty fork. Salt shaker was broken.

The Emerald Inn really is a beautiful oasis in a fantastic location. The bed linens were very elegant and the unit was spotless. We were able to check in early for which we were very grateful after a long drive. Shops, cafes and the Bruce Mason theatre are all just a short walk from the hotel.

Everything was great.
