Good size room. Comfortable bed. Good selection of teas - including Earl Grey. Had decaf coffee as well as normal. Good number of individual milks in fridge. Good size wardrobe - with proper hangers which you could take off the rail easily. Iron and ironing board provided (though didn't need to use them).Everything seemed very clean. Good blackout curtains . Good selection of TV options. Excellent shower pressure. Very welcome heated towel rail. In this room (209) the washbasin allowed reasonable access to the mirror (in room 410, which we stayed in 3 nights previously, the basin design was completely impractical for actually getting close enough to the mirror for things like applying make up, or shaving ). Bathroom was a good size. Friendly reception. Great location - very near restaurants in Oxford Terrace and Riverside Market, and less than 10 minutes walk from the bus interchange where we got off the airport bus.

Mixed experience of comfort of pillows. No shower cap, hooks or shelving in the bathroom. VERY thin, cheap and nasty toilet paper - unfortunately a common problem in many far from budget priced New Zealand hotels. Would certainly not impress any visitors from Europe.

The staff were exceptional, especially our waitress in the rooftop restaurant. She was informative and very personable. The food was simply amazing. Beautiful presented and tasted devine. We would highly recommend both the restaurant and hotel.

It would have been great to be able to have breakfast at the restaurant as well, but there are many places nearby, so not a big deal

I had a perfectly snice stay at the Christchurch City Hotel, the location is extremely convenient in the CBD, if that's your thing. Ubers abound nearby and are never far. The room, despite having a large window facing the street, was quiet. The bathroom was clean, with a real shower door that actually closes (at last!) and the shower water pressure was gloriously intense. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for longer stays, but for a few days of bopping around the city, go for it. The Riverside market is about a 3 minute jaunt away and there are plenty of other amusements to keep you occupied within walking distance.

There are virtually no extras - no cafe in the lobby, or water, or laundry, and the desk seems rarely staffed, at least when I was present. Wifi could have been faster and dropped about once every 24 hours. The front desk wasn't terribly helpful, fortunately I have been to this city before and can handle getting around. I ate breakfast at "The One" restaurant on the top floor, and wouldn't again as I found it quite average. The views are nice, though.

I had dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good. The room was clean and comfortable, the tv worked well with access to apps.

It was all good.

The location is excellent as it is very near Riverside Market and Botanical Gardens. A good hotel to stay to explore Christchurch city center. It is also not far from the bus terminal where there are several buses to and from Christchurch airport. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. He allowed us to have a late check out upon request as we arrived late when we checked in.

Very clean and presentable room and very helpful and friendly staff. Very good location in the CBD.

We noted that there was no reception lounge area in the ground foyer, just a couch. There was no rubber mat provided for the shower which is really important for elderly guests who might slip on the shower floor. The breakfast on the 1st morning was excellent, however, on the 2nd morning was terrible. We had been notified the day before that there would be a buffet breakfast to cater for a very large group of incoming guests. When we arrived for the buffet breakfast on this 2nd morning there was hardly much of a selection to choose from and was was on offer was cold and dried up. Very, very disappointing.

Excellent location, close to Cathedral Square and a short walk to the main shopping area/Riverside Markets etc (Christchurch is quite compact, anyway). Lots of cafes and places to eat nearby. Coin operated laundry 5 minute walk away where the Hop On Hop Off Train starts (stop 1). Starbucks across the road to the left. My room did not have a window (which a knew when I booked) so you will need to rely on your phone/watch. Not much noise. Staff were friendly. I would happily stay here again.

Very minimal benchtop space in the bathroom. The socket outlet was on the opposite wall from the vanity (probably due to electrical code requirements) so luckily I brought a normal toothbrush instead of my electric toothbrush as there would have been no where in the bathroom to put it. There was a shower over bath and the side of the bath is quite high so if you have mobility issues, probably not suitable for you.

Right in the heart of the city so you can explore on foot very easily from this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, bed and shower were all great. The breakfast setting on the top floor was classy and gave great views of the city. Breakfast the first morning was excellent…a plentiful buffet of hot and cold foods plus fruit, yoghurts and juices.

On our second, and last, morning the breakfast buffet had disappeared and was replaced by having to select one item from a menu. Therefore there was no fruit, no yoghurt and you could only choose a hot drink OR juice, not both …which we thought was remarkably stingy! Having said that, the cooked breakfast was plentiful and good…but the buffet was better

The room was spacious and the bathroom was too. The shower water pressure was fantastic. We had first floor room with a view out to Columbo Street, and thankfully, the traffic was not loud. The bed was comfortable and the reading lamps next to the bed were stylish and useful. It was nice having a desk to work on my computer. We included breakfast with our room and Ila served us two of our three mornings. She was friendly and accommodating and a pleasure to be greeted by first thing in the morning. The hotel is lucky to have her.
