Sincerely this has been a wonderful experience even if too too short. From the friendliness of the owners to the beauty of the Lodge itself, from the perfect position on Lake Okareka to the accuracy of hospitality in all its ways (a great taste on furniture not only in the common spaces but the same taste with the guest rooms; the quality of breakfast; the outright cleanliness of ALL spaces) all of this have made this short experience a very luxurious one

The only negative thing has been that our stay was too short. This place deserves a longer stay to appreciate it fully

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this incredible lodge, and we cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Leigh and Mike. The room was stunning—spacious, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Waking up to breathtaking views of the lake right from our room was a dream. Breakfast was awesome—fresh, well-prepared, and the perfect way to start the day. If you’re looking for a place that offers exceptional comfort, warm and genuine hosts, and an unforgettable experience, this lodge is the perfect choice.

Nothing.

This was our best stay in New Zealand. The room looked like it was straight out of a magazine, with beautiful panoramic views of the lake. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Everything that we needed was provided in the room. The main dining area was also gorgeous, every corner tastefully decorated with decor from around the world. Breakfast was hosted here with some classical music playing in the background which was a nice touch. The food was excellent and I highly recommend ordering the eggs which were some of the best I had. The lodge has a gorgeous patio and at night you can see the Milky Way which in itself was an incredible experience. The hosts were fantastic and made our stay very enjoyable. They also provided excellent recommendations for things to see and do in the area. Do yourself a favour and stay here - it will be one of the highlights of your trip!

I could go on for ever describing this awesome property. We loved everything about this wonderful lodge, a real home away from home. We had a huge suite with large bathroom and our own lounge, it was beautifully designed, furnished and spotlessly clean as was the whole lodge. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely fresh, crisp high quality linen. It is a really exceptional place, so tranquil. The views across the lake are amazing, there is a plethora of bird life to spot and a great walkway of 5.5km. A perfect location, a real gem of a find, really wished we had booked a much longer stay, we could easily have stayed for a week or two! Leigh and Mike were fantastic hosts, very friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Mike’s scrambled eggs are to die for, we made sure we got the recipe! We would return to New Zealand just to stay at Ngamihi Lodge.

There was absolutely nothing we didn’t like.

A beautiful lodge near a lovely lake. The accomodation was exceptional. Amazing views, comfortable beds and a superbly styled dining, lounge area (with fireplace) and deck overlooking the lake. The highlight (apart from all this!) was probably the breakfast. A range of fresh fruit and cereals, yoghurt and jams with a cooked breakfast of your choice. All beautifully presented. Leigh and Mike and their gorgeous little poodle were very accomodating hosts. Only a short drive from town, we were thrilled with our choice for exploring the Rotorua area.

Everything about out stay was perfect! Our room was breathtaking. The neighborhood was beautiful. Right down the street is a suspended redwood walk lite at night. We went river rafting near by. So much to do and see and so close. Lately the breakfast they made was divine! Thank you both! Warm aloha! Toby and Heather

There wasn’t a thing we did not like!

The pictures for this venue do not do the beauty of this property justice! Ngamihi Lodge was stellar in every way, from the view, to the rooms and the breakfast. The rooms were elegantly decorated with an amazing view of the lake, and even heated tile. Breakfast is served every morning and looked fit for royalty. The banana pancake breakfast was very delicious and served with bacon! The eggs were made anyway you desire, from benedict to scrambled, and looked and tasted like it came from a luxury kitchen.

Leigh and Mike went over and above to make our stay feel completely perfect. No detail was spared. If you like the finer things in life, with comfort and a relaxed atmosphere, you’ll love it here. It’s also a very beautiful, very peaceful location that is not too far out of town. The nearby lakes, walks and other attractions (such as The Buried Village) are all fabulous. A superb quality base for visiting Rotorua and surrounds, if you have a car.

The lodge was beautiful and charming. We felt home as soon as we step into the door. Leigh and Mike are great hosts offering a 5* service and making your stay unforgettable. We didn’t want to leave. The room we stayed, with a lounge area overlooking the lake, was everything we could ask for during our honeymoon.

I loved the hosts, their kindness and their sense of home feeling. My daughter's and I felt like royalty and were so relaxed and comfortable. The atmosphere, facilities, environment were all just so wonderful! Our breakfasts were beyond exceptional, they were luxurious, delicious and perfectly made! I can't wait to return - next time, with my husband.
