Being near the lake was amazing. The sliding doors and balcony was lovely. The bed was excellent and plenty of comfy pillows. The storage was fantastic with plenty of coat hangers. Didn’t have time for a spa bath but shower pressure was excellent. The kitchen area looked good and overall atmosphere of the apartment felt great.

Car park couldn’t be used as was too narrow. We didn’t want our vehicle damaged so needed to park on a busy main road. Door was difficult to open and slammed shut. A better brand of coffee and more sachets as well as a herbal tea would have been nice.

I booked so my grand daughter could go swimming in a hot pool; she is only 3 years but awesome we could spend some time in the heated pool together

I have been to Taupo many many times over 40 years booking motels and Air BNB's; we come for motorsport so are gone early and come back at the end of the time. however given my son was coming down with his partner and daughter, I googled for a place with a heated pool so my grand daughter could enjoy time in the pool even when I was at the track.

The managers are lovely. Very helpful, very kind, providing great service. I loved all 3 rooms we stayed in, each one catered for 2 ppl. Rm 11 has a balcony that faces the lake front. It's a beautiful sight in the day, even more so in the night. The layout and spa are perfect for a couple. You can watch something on the tv and enjoy your spa. Rm 18 is nice if you want to be closer to the lake front and the outdoor heated pool & spa. Rm 17 is my favorite. The closest room to the hot Spa & the large outdoor lounging/seating area.

Location excellent. Super clean and modern well-appointed rooms. Beautiful spa bath in our room which we enjoyed. Bed was extra large and very comfortable.

During busy times, public holiday weekend, the pool area gets extremely crowded and loud from morning till night. So it wasn’t as peaceful as we would have liked. One group of noisy guests totally took over the pool area and that annoyed us immensely as we would have liked to use it. Parking, what a nightmare. If there is 1 carpark per room why not paint numbers on them? I believe guests of room guests were parking in the carpark. You pay enough for the room so should have an allocated car park.

everything. we had the one bedroom apartment with lake view. there was nothing we didn't like about the apartment. It was spacious, quiet, fab view of the lake, good sized and comfortable bed and the managers and staff were friendly, helpful and offered good advice about the Taupo area and places to eat. We loved walking around the lake to the coffee van about 1 km towards town where locals and tourists mix. Had a swim in the lake one morning and the water was at a really pleasant temperature. A nice thing to do after the coffee.

nothing. this is no fault of the resort or the staff but the nearest restaurant at Millenium (about 5 mins walk) had a pretty basic menue and we didn't get a good vibe when we rolled up one night. We were told it was fully booked and yet the place was empty and we were offered a table outside but with the sun out and setting so it wasn't an option. The yacht club about 10 mins further on served only pizzas and they were ok. Otherwise it's a short drive to some good eating options.

We went for the ground floor room because there were beds for 4 and because it meant the kids could walk straight out of the room and into the fabulous, warm pool. They loved it. We missed out on the view of the lake .... which would be great from upstairs rooms ... but the property has private access to the wonderful lakeside pathway and an easy walk into town. The second double bed was a pull-out couch and the main room was a little cramped when it was out for sleeping, but really not a problem. The huge bonus was the separate ensuite bathroom off the main bedroom. This means there is one bathroom for the kids and one for the parents ... what a luxury when travelling! :-) Everything was clean, tidy and well presented and the staff were lovely.

Nothing to complain about! We would definitely stay again.

Absolutely loved my stay here at The Reef Resort, the lovely staff were not hesitant to help out when jump starting my car. I was super grateful for their help. Facilities provided made the stay more relaxing. Not one problem with cleanliness. Overall great place to stay.

Only disadvantage is the location being on a busy road. Otherwise 10/10

Second time staying at the Reef, we just love it. Studio rooms have got everything: full kitchen, very comfy bed, spa bath for two, opening windows, air conditioning, decent size fridge. We love the location right on the lake and being able to swim in the heated pool in winter and soak in the hot pool. Staff are always very welcoming too. We’ll be back again.

Nothing to dislike.

The Reef was lovely. There was a minor problem, since resolved and caused by works outside the hotels control. The managers dealt with it beautifully. We were given alternative, and as it happens, much upgraded accommodation at the hotel for the next 2 nights, which the managers did in a very thoughtful and friendly manner. The hot pool by night was lovely, as was location on lakeside. .

Was quite a walk into Toupo itself for bars restaurants etc, but easy drive with loads of parking.

A pleasant place to stay. Large comfortable room. The hot swimming pool was very relaxing. Friendly owners.

Our room didn't have a balcony or terrace and looked to the side of the property. We were only staying one night so it didn't really matter but it would have been much nicer to have a room overlooking the lake or pool. The swimming pool is small.
