Centrally located walking distance from the Oslo Central Train Station. Beautiful property. Great restaurant and bar in hotel. Lovely Al fresco section for drinks or dining. A nice gym/fitness center in the hotel. Room was very comfortable.

The hotel does not have central air conditioning in the rooms, which is normally not an issue in Norway. But for my July visit with temperatures near 80 degrees, the room was quite warm. The staff, anticipating this brought a portable air conditioner to my room on arrival which I was able to use during my stay. Very comfortable with that provided.

I liked everything about this property - starting with the friendly & helpful staff. My room was comfortable, the hotel was centrally located, they offer cappuccinos at breakfast (not a self serve coffee machine), saunas were wonderful, and did I mention the wonderful staff??! I don’t take that last one for granted as it can definitely affect the trip. Each and every person - especially Katarina at the restaurant - was warm & friendly & helpful.

If you have a lot of luggage there are a few steps leading up the elevator that you’ll have to navigate on your own.

The classy and cosy vibe is still going strong at the “old” hotel. This is the second time I’ve booked this hotel and this’s time everything was close to perfect! The personel in the reception never fails to delivery a strong start to our stay. The room had usual great water pressure, and excellent quality in-room products right from the shape/ type of the beverage cups to the hairdryer, teas, linen, iron, to the personal products. Having the morning tea in the windowsill over looking the center square, is one of my favourite ways to start my day in Oslo. The breakfast had a lovely selection of everything included in a utterly diverse Scandinavian/Continental breakfast. And of course The drinks at the bar had great taste and quality!

Unfortunately, the staff at the bar and at the breakfast restaurant, was very busy, rendering waiting for service, queuing at the breakfast bar, queuing waiting for a booked table, in the back, crammed in behind a wall, between a nursing mother and her infant and a loud family of 7, not really the setting for a nice calming romantic breakfast… There was too many people in one room, making the whole experience rather chaotic and very loud. The staff was running as fast as possible, but felt a bit “caught in the headlights” by the crowds.

The location is in the city center and in the heart of everything. Walking everywhere was convenient and very easy. The breakfast had a nice selection each morning. The sauna facilities were clean and available without a reservation. The staff in all of the areas we frequented were responsive, helpful, and informative. There is a safe in the room. The history of the building was interesting, and we enjoyed learning about the city.

The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. On the day that we checked out we needed to leave before breakfast started, so they made us to go breakfasts. These were ready for us at the desk when we checked out.

We had a hard time navigating to the hotel using our GPS. There was also not anywhere to park to unload our bags before parking the car a block away. This meant lugging our bags all the way from the 6th floor of the parking garage to the front of the hotel and up the stairs. We also had to do the same thing when leaving. Most hotels of this quality and expense in the United States would have someone to assist you with your bags.

This hotel serves as an example in the hotel sector! Facilities of the finest aesthetics, strategical location (at the heart of the main attractions and very well connected with the airport), beautiful sauna and fitness amenities, attention to details (e.g high quality skincare products) and the most delicious breakfast you could ever ask for! Most importantly, what makes Amerikalinjen special is the genuine politeness and hospitality of its people! Our breakfasts and dinners would not be the same if Alexander from the Brasserie Atlas was not there to ensure that every meal becomes an authentic and unique experience (not to mention our pleasant discussions and his very useful tips for Oslo). Likewise, Katharina and Nikos kept always the biggest smile for us, were very attentive and did the extra mile to help with every single thing that we needed. Exploring a new country/city and finding a new home is not self-evident! Thus, when this happens, you know that you will be back soon!

The hotel is in an excellent location, next to the train station, and is easy to reach to most of the city attractions. Even though our room faces the train station square with lots of traffic, the noise level is minimal. All of the staff are very courteous and go out of their way to concomitate guests' needs. Selections at the breakfast are quite good. On the day of our departure which was at 6 in the morning, they actually prepared a boxed breakfast for us to take on the trip.

The only thing is that sound insulation between rooms is not sound proof. We can hear conversation from guests in the next room for two nights although fortunately they were done before very late.

The hotel is very centrally located, making it easy to explore the city and access public transportation. The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast. The variety and quality of the food were incredible, offering a great start to the day. However, I did notice that some of the breakfast service staff were not as friendly as I would have hoped, which slightly detracted from the experience.

One notable issue was the room temperature control. The thermostat could only be adjusted within a range of ±3°C, which was quite unusual. During my stay, Oslo experienced unusually warm weather, and our room, which faced the sun, became too warm for comfort. This limited adjustment range made it difficult to achieve a comfortable temperature.

This was our first time in Oslo and I would seek this place out the next time we're here. It's a beautiful space, from the exterior, to the entry, to the room. The bath is luxurious and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Our breakfasts were included and they are amazing. There is honestly anything you can want for breakfast. You can be as healthy or not as you choose. The location of the hotel is perfect. The trams are literally in front of the entrance. A lot of major bus route stops are either outside or just a block or two away. If you're taking the train from the airport, the entrance is also right across the square. We also used the well equipped fitness facility each day we were there. It had plenty of towels, easy to use lockers, and water. Absolutely loved staying here.

Superb location, decor both in room and throughout, room layout, well equipped en suite and a great breakfast with plenty of choices to start the day! Staff at the front desk were very helpful from check in to checkout.

Only slight negative was the one evening we thought we would stay at the hotel and make use of the proudly promoted award winning bar it was closed. No big deal though as the hotel is very close to a good selection of bars and restaurants.
