The room was very comfortable and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The receptionist, Cátia, gave us great recommendations for restaurants and was always very welcoming and warm. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The best part was the view. We had a lovely big balcony/terrace with tables and chairs and an outdoor couch, with two sunbeds, looking out over the beach and the sea - absolutely stunning. Location-wise, the hotel was a couple-minutes walk from the beach and restaurants and any other amenities you might need.

The breakfast was convenient, delivered to our door, and we were able to enjoy it on our terrace overlooking the sea. But for €15 per person, don't think it's good value for money. It was fine for one day, but we wouldn't have it any more than that.

This is the best place to stay in terms of the views, sitting on the balcony and looking over the bay was just the most relaxing experience. The location was perfect, so easy to walk into the village centre where there are excellent restaurants. The room itself (Room 11) was very large and the beds so comfortable and the bathroom great too. We had the option of breakfast being delivered in a basket once and it was great fun sitting on the balcony enjoying the contents. The staff were super friendly and parking even in the high season of July outside the Guest House was easy enough.

The size and privacy of the balconies seems to vary from room to room. Ours (room 11) was almost on the street level and quite small plus it was really just one long balcony divided by pot plants shared by 4 rooms, so was not very private. However, this was not really a major problem and could be quite social (if you fancied) as residents sit sipping their wine overlooking the stunning view.

We had a wonderful stay at Castelo. The incredible view is obviously what you come here for and it did not disappoint. We found the location convenient as we used it as a base to explore the rest of the western Algarve. It's also just a short walk into town where there are a lot of shops and restaurants. The staff was super friendly and gave good recommendations. The breakfast on the balcony was lovely, though we also opted to get breakfast in town a few times and found some great places as well. They lend you beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas which were easy to carry and very useful. The room itself was basic but clean and comfortable, which is all I was looking for. In reading other reviews, I was worried about a couple things coming in but they were not an issue in the end: Parking - I came in peak season in July and street parking was easy to find. Half the time I got a space right in front of the hotel. The other times I simply went around the corner, where there are many head-first parking spots. Noise - The hotel overlooks the main beach/plaza and there was often some event at night with music playing. With the windows/doors shut I could barely hear it. Disclaimer - I live in a large city though so maybe background noise just doesn't bother me as much as others.

If I had to nitpick, it would have been nice if there were screens on the balcony doors. It was nice to have them open with the ocean breeze but quite a few gnats/flies would come in as well. We didn't get any mosquitoes or bug bites, but annoying nonetheless. The AC in the bathroom did not work while we were there so it got quite hot in there when showering. We brought it to the attention of the staff but the issue wasn't addressed while we were there. The AC in the room worked perfectly.

This room had a fantastic view of the ocean and beach, great terrace with a little table and lounge chairs. Hostess was very helpful and breakfast served in little picnic baskets was very good and a good value. Sitting outside on the terrace having breakfast and watching the waves crashing on the rocks was priceless! There are some very good Portuguese restaurants that our hostess recommended, we were not disappointed.

The double room with balcony & sea view was perfect. The room itself is spacious and the bathroom very functional. Having the balcony to hang out on, have breakfast, and enjoy the beautiful sea & sunrise/sunsets was awesome. We originally thought we'd go out for daily breakfast but decided to give the guesthouse offering a try. It was so good that we got it for our next day too. We thought it was worth the 20 euros for the amount we got, not having to search for an eatery, having it delivered in cute picnic baskets, and the amazing view to boot. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Location was great for taking in this lovely seaside town by foot. Parking can be tight but we lucked out with easy parking spots during our stay.

Nothing...everything was perfect.

The best was the staff, especially Catiana [sp?]. She was wonderful: friendly, helpful, charming and brimming with warmth. and her assistant in training, Augustin, is following in her footsteps. Catiana helped with restaurant reservations, changing our train schedule, and recommending what to see and do. The room [number 1] was spacious and very comfortable. The location of the hotel was also excellent, and the public terrace offered great views and comfortable seating. The breakfast was also delicious. We DEFINITELY would stay there again!

Not having to leave!

Castelo Guest House offers an unbeatable view, with the beautiful Carvoeiro beach and cliffs right outside the window. The staff were extremely friendly. During our stay, it happened to rain, but they provided us with many rainy-day travel suggestions, such as visiting museums, wineries, and castles. Thanks to their recommendations, we had the chance to explore the castle in the charming town of Silves. The rain came and went during our stay, and the cushions on the balcony chairs got wet. The staff quickly provided spare cushions, allowing us to enjoy the stunning view during the rare moments of sunshine. The indoor common area (the lobby) is quite small, but each room has a balcony where guests usually have breakfast. There are also two chairs next to the reception desk, which made for a comfortable spot to do some work on winter mornings. Housekeeping was done daily, keeping the room clean and tidy.

The only issue was that the shower glass didn’t seem to seal completely, causing some water to leak out and dampen the floor mat. At times, an extra towel was needed to soak up the water. Fortunately, fresh towels were provided every day, so it wasn’t too much of a problem.

Falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves is the best. This room with a view offered what it says. A Juliet window allows you to see and hear the ocean. The room was compact but had a small fridge and a safe if needed. Staff recommendations for the area were on point. The “Earth cafe” was delicious and great choice if you opt out of the one at the hotel. We had two nights here - and we really liked the atmosphere and town - even in winter there were lots of options. The Enciii for dessert was also a great place.

The Castelo is a gem of a place, with very friendly and helpful staff, with lots of suggestions and advice on hand. We had the suite with incredible views over the bay, and there was nothing to fault about the room, which was well decorated, clean and comfy. Location is also good, just a few mins walk down to the beach and the main roads were all the bars and restaurants are located.

Castelo guest house is in a great location overlooking the beach in Carvoeiro. Carvoeiro is a very charming town on the beach in Algarve and was nice, quiet and peaceful in November. It seems that this town is a hotspot for British and German tourists and ex-pats. Castelo's staff was great, it is a small hotel / b&b that has a nice clean, cozy vibe to it. We stayed here for the end of our Honeymoon and enjoyed the location and proximity to the beach and restaurants. We also easily visited Ferragudo and Portimao from here. Great place to watch the sunset or take a short walk to the beach or the miroduros. Breakfast was great and delivered to the room in cute picnic baskets for breakfast in bed or on the terrace. Rooms are on the smaller side but cozy and still have good storage, comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Book this place for the view, and go and enjoy the town.

Only downside to the stay is that the walls are paper thin, we were on our honeymoon and given room 4, which has an amazing view of the ocean, but is literally right behind the reception desk and practically located in the lobby. You could hear staff delivering breakfast and working in the lobby in the morning, guests coming in/out and felt like we had to keep our voices down or were not really in a private room because of this.
