The bed and mattress were very comfortable and the shower was exceptional. The staff were helpful and communicative.

The location was close enough to walk places but a bit rough around the edges ('pink street' bar scene was not appealing). The breakfast room/lobby/reception area/bar was a bit small. Instructions from the staff for arriving by metro from the airport were odd. We were directed to walk from Baixa/Chado station, which we later realized was a significantly longer and more challenging steeply cobbled walk (especially with luggage) rather than from the closer Cais do Sodre stop which was a flat walk near the hotel.

Good hotel. Helpful staff. The entrance to our part of the hotel was on a small incline of the road. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, with a small fridge and a bottle of water daily. The breakfast was 8-10 am daily which we missed 3 out of 5 days since we had to leave earlier for our tours/flight. There is a small bar close to the hotel frequented by a young crowd and very popular, so there was some noise but not enough to disturb sleep (and the windows had shutters). Some broken glass/plastic on the road by the bar so you have to walk carefully. But the location and overall stay at this hotel was good. If I came back to Lisbon in the future, I’d stay there again.

Breakfast could be available starting earlier (like 6 am) since many tourists take bus tours which leave early in the morning. It’s hard to find a coffee somewhere at that out of the day and it’d be nice to have at the hotel. Maybe even coffee/tea and croissants or something small.

We kept saying, over and over, how wonderful our hosts were! They were friendly and funny and knowledgeable. Pedro found us whatever we were looking for and quickly;

IF only the owner would upgrade their front door! It was closed when we arrived with a note to call a number. It did not look promising and I was beginning to worry that I would be blamed for choosing a hotel that was otherwise going to measure up to my friend's standards! That front door has got to go! HOWEVER, we were welcomed into a lovely breakfast/cocktail room by hosts Pedro and Magdalena who were friendly and accommodating. They love their city. Lisboa, and their country and would like every guest to leave with the same fondness. We did!

Our stay at Casa do Mercado Lisboa was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. They proactively reached out before our arrival to ensure a seamless check-in experience, setting the tone for an outstanding stay. The concierge service was a game-changer, elevating our entire time in Lisbon. Our concierge, Pedro, was an absolute gem—knowledgeable, resourceful, and always eager to assist. Whether answering our questions about the city or offering expert recommendations on must-visit spots in Lisbon and beyond, he made exploring effortless and enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend Casa do Mercado Lisboa to anyone visiting Lisbon. It’s the perfect blend of comfort, hospitality, and local expertise, making for an unforgettable stay!

The apartment is very well located (close to transit, a finicular, the water and some sights) and had two bright rooms (both bdrms for us, but could have been a bedrm and living area) as well as a small entry and bathroom. The skylight in the bedroom has a remote controlled shade which was very useful. The room for breakfast is lovely (blue velvet sofas) and there were quite a few options for breakfast. We were in a rush and didn't check if there were hot options...

The walk-up aspect was fine for us but would be tricky with big luggage. You need to shift the desk to open/ close the shutters in the living space, but it was easy to do and wouldn't be an issue if you didn't use the sofa bed.

Lovely boutique hotel vibe, room's decoration was done with great detail and bathroom renovated and in very good condition with Lisbon style and tiled - convenient central location (close-by Time Out food market) a bottle of wine included in the room brings a nice personal touch. The breakfast was exceptional with traditional Pastel de Natas. Self-check in service outside reception opening hours was easy to use. Communication before and during the stay from the hotel also was above and beyond - when you messaged them with a question you got a quick reply. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in Lisbon. Oh and soap in the bathroom smelled amazing.

That I needed to leave.

This is a really great hotel in a very good location. The staff are amazing, the breakfast offered is good, and there are some really great things to see and do right on the doorstep of the hotel. The concierge service they offered helped us book a day trip, and provided some great local recommendations. As the property is near the river it means that whenever you want to return back for a rest or for the evening, you are coming downhill; which I think is another great thing about the location. If we are back in Lisbon, we will definitely be back at Casa do Mercado.

The only thing stopping it from being a 10/10 was that occasionally it was a little loud. However this is completely dependent on other guests/people outside, and I would say that any noise was never too late or lasting too long.

It is in a great location for walking to the central area

The downside of the location is the noise level from bars outside the window. It was particularly noisy the Friday night of our stay, it was very difficult to sleep as there was merriment on the streets till 4AM. Opening the window for fresh air made it impossible to sleep, closing the window made it too hot in the room. Hopefully the hotel will provide a fan for the warmer months ahead as there is no AC. The concierge staff Madalena and Pedro were excellent and very helpful

The bedroom was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was decent, though low in variety. We stored our luggage there before we checked in and after we checked out.The location is excellent, a short 10 minute walk to the square, 5 minute walk to Time out markets and the river front.

The bathroom is small. The reception is a separate entrance on main road and is, only open from 9 to 5 and the area is also used for breakfast. After 5, they use it as a bar. So if you checking in later, you get a code to get in.

The building was beautiful and full of the character of Lisbon. It’s so well looked after and absolutely spotless the entire time. Our room was perfect for our needs. We had so much space and all the essentials. The shower was amazing!!! The beds were super comfy and it just made our trip so easy to have this wonderful base to return to. Madalena and Pedro made us feel so welcome even before arrived and really cared that we had a good time. It was a special place and we hope to return.
