The uniform in tune with the era of the hotel as if you are in a movie set. it was unique. The staff were excellent mostly. Music everwhere, light piano at breakfast, welcome drink with FADO music. The spa room lovely unique for a city Hotel. We had a massage with Yavary, she was excellent.

There need to be more safety rules or notice around the numerous stair cases in the hotel. The stairs can be dangerous. My wife had a nasty fall on the stairs although the staff were nice but there was no medical assistance given and no incident report was done.

This is a very special place, we enjoyed the ambiance of the place, its location in a central part of town all sights within walking distance (the famus tram has a station right next to the lobby), its generosity as offering free wine and cheese in the afternoon, a breakfast second to none, a garden to sit in, reception staff offering tourist information for you and finaly no traffic to disturb you (garden room).

The rooms are not sound proof, during their fado evening you will be able to enjoy it from your bed (if you like fado) but this mean you will hear other guests and the resturant setting up breakfast and the washing of dishes. But it did not mean to much to us as the place is a very special place. If you choose the small twin it is as its name small, think a boat cabin just ok for a weekend. As it is cramped I found it overpriced.

Great breakfast, wonderful historic property, lovely staff, (friendly and helpful) convenient city centre location. The breakfast buffet was really amazing with live musical accompaniment (piano and violin) that was atmospheric. This is a historic palace and very special indeed. There is even a cellar with complementary wine in the evening!

Disappointed in our original room for two reasons. Firstly, it is at the front of the hotel and had no sound proofing. There were really loud buskers with big sound systems for several hours during the day. Each night we were woken by clubbers going home and singing and shouting on the street from 2am until 4am. This room also had a poor bathroom which was a toilet and shower in a tiny cupboard with a handbasin in the room. Bit of a passion killer but luckily we've been married for 20 years. Halfway through our 8 day stay we asked to be moved to the back of the hotel which the hotel was able to do for the last three nights.

The staff were wonderful. They were beyond helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was great and the complimentary wine and cheese a real treat. The hotel is truly quirky but in a great way. We were comfortable, the hotel was quiet, the location was superb for access to the city. There was a pianist and a violinist at breakfast every day, and whatever was needed to work out exploring the city, the staff had great suggestions. If you are happy to try a contrast to prepack designer hotels and major chains, this is the perfect alternative, with old fashioned values and charm. We'd stay again.

The Spice Palace was the absolute best hotel experience my husband and I have ever had! And don't be mistaken...it is not just a hotel, but a true immersive experience. I can't praise them enough for their attention to detail, delightful staff, and immaculate facilities. A few highlights... the transportation from the airport by the knowledgeable and charming Bruno who gave us a lay of the land, the relaxing pre-dinner wine and cheese (and delicious olives) while sitting in the charming oasis of a courtyard, the kind front desk staff, Carla who gave us her time and tips (and a personal recommendation for a guide in Madeira), the relaxing piano and violin music during their lavish breakfast, and the attentive Allan who was our bartender a couple nights. It's cheesy, but we felt like family. Stay here if you want old world charm with modern amenities (great hot water and shower pressure) and an attentive staff who don't smother you! We will be staying here again should we have the opportunity to visit Lisbon again! Thank you to everyone.

Not a complaint per say, but I have a very sensitive nose and found some of the scents in the upstairs hallway a bit too strong. Although, that may be on me because they are called the SPICE Palace!

The staff is absolutely amazing here. Everyone from the doorman to the maids were exceptional and I cannot tell you how it felt like home because of that. Our room was perfect (albeit loud, because we like to sleep with windows/doors open) and was better than we could have hoped for. The breakfast was amazing - such a selection! The house wine and the lovely cheese/bread snack is a perfect touch. Definitely take it to the courtyard for quiet retreat. The location is perfect for any exploration around the city- so close to any transport you may use. I could go on and on about the staff, but Ana, Igor, Luis, Luisa, Beny et al, and all the lovely gals at breakfast were incredible. We will return here with no hesitation!

Zero. It was perfect

Palacio das Especiarias has an excellent location near all major attractions or just a quick UBER drive to any of them. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well as a lot of entertainment. Breakfast was fabulous and varied. The staff is really nice and helpful. I loved the sound of the piano and at times a duo with a violin while having breakfast.

The room/bathroom was a bit small and there is not much storage space. There are a lot of stairs to go from floor to floor as the elevator is tiny and not too practical. It was not a problem for us yet it could be for certain guests.

We had a wonderful 5-night stay at Palacio das Especiarias. The hotel is absolutely glamorous, with luxurious and elegant interiors that make you feel like you're in a 16th-century palace. The location is perfect, right on the edge of the Bairro Alto quarter, surrounded by great bars and restaurants, and close to a shopping area. It’s an ideal starting point for exploring Lisbon on foot. The breakfast was a highlight—served in two charming dining rooms, accompanied by a live singer and pianist who created a lovely ambiance. The food was delicious and generously offered. We also loved the cozy and warm atmosphere of the common areas. One unique feature is the basement with its three barrels of wine. After a long day of walking, being able to pour a glass of wine for yourself and relax while listening to Fado music was such a special touch.

The only downside was that the room was relatively small, but it didn’t take away from our overall enjoyment of the stay.

I have stayed here several times and love the property. They have a wonderful breakfast and have added wine & cheese at happy hour. The place is full of antiques giving the guest a very authentic Lisboa experience.

I got a bad room this time. I did not like that the bathroom was converted from a closet and the sink had to be in the room. It was very inconvenient especially since the light for the bathroom turned on a bright light in the room. Also the door to the bathroom did not close completely. Last, this property has no frequent stayers program to give any preference to returnees.

Gorgeous centuries old palace renovated to a modern, comfortable hotel that retains its soul. Beautiful furnishings, large rooms with elegant bathrooms in the heart of Lisbon. The rooms have coffee machines, safe and the tiniest fridge I ever saw, perfect to keep a few bottles of water cold. The staff is incredible, friendly and knowledgeable, always around to help in any way but not intrusive. The hotel offers spiced tea and cookies, welcome drinks and has a speakeasy in the basement with free casks of red wine and cheese plates all day. We didn’t go to the spa but many people were using it and seemed relaxed and happy. The breakfast was amazing, table after table of hot and cold foods, fruits and pastries, juice and coffee. We would highly recommend attending the Fado dinner in the hotel. The food and wine was delicious. Held in the breakfast room it was a small group so the staff and the Fado singer and musicians made it feel like a gathering at home. The spice hotel is one of my all time favorite hotels, I just wish we had stayed longer.

I had no complaints about anything, great hotel
