Staff was really kind and attentive and helped me during my stay with restaurants and taxi on the day of departure. I really appreciated the breakfast box they gave me as I had an early flight back home. Although the room had a bit old style furniture, it was really clean - it was cleaned every day - , quiet, spacious and the bathroom had a window with towels available. Breakfast had sweet and savoury alternatives, including delicious locally produced milk and yoghurt. The location was great, in the to town centre, next to Portas da Cidade and with a wide selection of bars and restaurants. It was definitely good value for money.

While came to the hotel Maria welcomed us warmly providing us with a travel map and best restaurant recommendations. I have seen there is option to have dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was very nice, with a self squizzed fresh orange juice, lots of local fruits, very good coffee and local specialities of the island such as cheese and buns - bolo levedo. Location is a straight old town of Ponta Delgada, that was nice place to start travel in Sao Miguel after tiring flight. In the room there was facilities such as tea and coffee. Bathroom is spacious and with good light. Place is clean and fresh.

As per understanding the climate - room felt a littlebit humid. Our room from the main street and it was a littlebit noisy (kept windows open to let fresh air).

The friendlly and professional service from reception to the breakfast crew. Our room was comfortable with fridge to cool our drinks. There is coffee machine in the room. Breakfast is good considering it’s included in the price of the hotel. The local bolo bread is delicious on its own, I had mine like a sandwich with tomatoes and cheese. The fresh orange juice machine was temperamental/not working properly so was taken away to the kitchen for repair. I had fresh sliced oranges instead which is just as good. Will return maybe in 2 years and hope to stay longer.

Very good location in the beating heart of Ponta Delgada, helpful staff, delicious breakfast. Staff even offered to pack me a takeout breakfast before my early morning flight! Hotel has its own restaurant.. or is the hotel built around the restaurant? :) Bus stop and taxi nearby, along with cafes, other restaurants, historical buildings, botanical gardens. They also offer laundry service. I realized only after I was already packing before leaving. After I returned from my trip I´ve seen the hotel in a documentary. It was something about the oldest restaurant or something of similar historical significance.

There is this specific smell that you get at some old Portuguese houses. The hotel is situated in an older building so you can probably never completely get rid of it. It can also get little loud in the evenings, especially if you have balcony situated into street. These aren´t negatives per se, it is just something that makes up the atmosphere of the place.

Absolutely fantastic experience at the Alcides Hotel! From the moment we checked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles and exceptional service by Andrea. The location couldn't be better—situated right in the heart of the town, making it easy to explore all the nearby attractions without needing to worry about transportation. And the breakfast? Wow! Each morning, we were greeted with a variety of delicious options, from fresh fruit to local dairy products. It was the perfect way to start our days, and the friendly breakfast staff made the experience even better. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. I can't recommend it enough and would gladly return on our next trip to Ponta Delgada!

Spacious, clean room. Air conditioning too . Breakfast was great —nice selection of hot and cold food. The local woman who works in the dining area was friendly and very helpful to all the diners.

We were there for a late night festival. The outdoor buzzer to push and let you back into the hotel did not work. No card scanner either. You had to knock on the door and hope that someone let you in. Someone did come to the door, eventually.. Nice man, apologized for the inconvenience.

Very nice hotel in the city center. I will remember the staff the most fondly, always smiling and helpful, and breakfasts with regional products, sweet and salty. It is also worth mentioning the amazing orange juice, but most write about it. 😊 The room was clean, comfortable and big enough. In my opinion, Hotel it deserves 3*** and not 2**.

Unfortunately, the location in the city center also has its drawbacks. There is noise from nearby restaurants until late at night, which is important if you like to sleep with your window open. However, the hotel has no influence on this.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast each morning was fantastic. Location was in the middle of the city and great for walking around especially in the evenings. We had a rented a car to see the whole island . There is only parking in the outskirts of the town but you can drive to the hotel first to drop off your luggage. Same when you are leaving. The staff assisted in printing off our boarding passes when we were leaving. Super nice people.

The only down fall was that many people smoked in the outside cafes surrounding the town and the smoke would filter into the hotel and into our room sometimes. The staff were very apologetic but it is part of the culture.

Everything was very good, and I enjoyed my stay. I would say that pushing the two single beds together to make one larger bed was not very comfortable at all. This may not be something that can be fixed, but I think it would be good to look into it and see if anything can be done. Perhaps more options for larger beds or just switch to larger beds with the option of a cot. Otherwise, it was very good.

I do believe that all of the staff were nice, nobody was rude. However, it was very difficult to communicate with some of the employees at the front desk. I do not expect everyone to speak English, but perhaps have them be ready to offer language solutions such as Google Translate or maybe a translation sheet with a few of the basics like laundry, taxi service, etc. Some of them too were a little forgetful and didn't seem to care too much (she forgot to turn in my laundry for service when I brought it to the front desk - I could not find the laundry bag right away). But, again, nobody was rude and I am really thankful to the hotel and all of the staff.

Top location, in the city centre in Ponta Delgada, really close to the shore and only around 10 minutes from the airport. We spent one night there. Our room had everything we needed for such a stay, it was also very clean. Receptionists were nice and helpful. Great value for money. Big bathroom, comfortable bed, coffee machiene in the room. Our room did not face the street, which was very crowded and noisy (the street) and we heard completely nothing from the noise, we had a great sleep. I would higly recommend this hotel if you need to stay close to the airport because of early morning/late evening flights. Or to anybody who wishes to stay in the center of Ponta Delgada.

The only thing I was not completely satisfied was the breakfast. I have found the options a little limited, especially vegetarian options. On the other hand I also did not notify the hotel in advance of my diatery preferences. All together we were satisfied with our stay.
