Nine Dots was a wonderful place to stay. I was visiting from the US for work -- the A/C was very powerful and the room (standard) was quite spacious. There was plenty of closet space. When I arrived, they brought my bag up (lol I had that before), and room service provided more hangers and coffee pods immediately upon request. The day I was leaving was the big Santo Cristo dos Milagres festival procession, and they helped me get a taxi early (before the roads were closed at 11am -- this was May 25, 2025). The breakfast was very good, lots of local cheeses and jams and breads, with an option to order omelets, pancakes, etc. if you want. I also like their sustainability commitment. On a central but quiet street, and not too big/busy. Basically ideal location and stay. PRO-TIP if you have mobility issues or lots of luggage: the taxis will drop you off at the corner of the nearest actual street (vs. cobblestone lane in front of the hotel), so you do have to walk maybe 100 yards or so. This wasn't an issue for me bc I just had 1 bag, but just FYI.

Love the modernization of the old building giving a contemporary feel. Loved all the care in curating local artists to decorate their walls. The indoor pool feels like a relaxing grotto with its vulcanic rock and salt water treatment. Didn't have the privilage to do amassage yet but intend on doing in soon

Centrally located in the town the hotel was modern, a stylish and beautifully renovated building with easy access to restaurants, bars and the seafront. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean and the facilities available including pool and breakfast and the bar downstairs were all excellent. Breakfast offered a lot of variety with a lovely courtyard garden to sit in. Other great little spaces including a roof terrace and comfy chairs dotted around. We were able to use hotel towels when we went to the thermal baths on the island. And we took full advantage of the excellent bar! The hotel is well located for exploring the island and there is lots of on-street parking nearby.

It’s a charming boutique hotel with outstanding service. The location is perfect—close to taxi stands, parking, and just steps from the city center. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals at a great price, and the breakfast was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, even allowing us early check-in and late check-out. We relaxed daily in the spa, which was a real highlight. The bar also impressed us with its great cocktails and friendly team. Stayed about 10 days and would definitely come back!

Only minor issue was that housekeeping occasionally forgot to restock towels or dishware, though everything was always clean. A quick call fixed it each time.

First and foremost, the staff is absolutely outstanding – incredibly friendly, attentive, and always going the extra mile. From proactively researching and noting down local attraction tips to remembering small details about our orders and preferences for the next day, their service was impeccable. A special shoutout to João and Alexander, who truly made our stay even more enjoyable every single day. The hotel itself, carefully restored from two century-old buildings right in the heart of Ponta Delgada, combines artistic, stylish but calm design with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are clean and well-equipped, with fresh water and a fruit basket included, the spa area features a beautifully designed pool with large basalt arches, comfortable loungers, and a small sauna. "etc. Osteria Bar", the in-house restaurant, offers some of the best food we had on the entire island – a generous breakfast buffet in the morning and à la carte fine dining in the evening. Its quality and culinary creativity was consistently outstanding, yet prices never exceeded those of other restaurants by more than a couple of euros. NINE DOTS may be a small boutique hotel, but it excels in every way that matters – from its warm and attentive staff to its top-quality dining and inviting atmosphere, all at a great value. We would highly recommend it and would love to return!

If we had to mention one minor drawback, it would be that the water was a little too cold for our taste, and some of the extra pool features (like the whirlpool and shower functions) weren’t working at the time of our stay. But with complimentary lemonade available, so nevermind! :D

Great location! Breakfast was great, freshly prepared menu options with eggs etc., pastries and fresh juices. The pool was lovely, it's not hot, but not freezing, great after the steam room. (make sure you find the buttons for the jets located around the edges of the pool) Room was silent and dark. We each had enough room for our things. There's a mini fridge for all the cheese you should buy from the store next door. Shower is a rain shower head and had great pressure, nice counterspace around sink. We paid for their private parking and their garage is two small blocks away. Reception staff was charming- always had smiles, answers and recommendations. Hi! Loved chatting with everyone. Hope to stay again!

The bed was not great, but not the worst we've had. We were there for a week, not sure I would've noticed if it was just a few nights.

Nine Dots Boutique Hotel is worth every penny. This location provides an complete experience making hard to leave: tons of snacks and fruits in the room renewed daily, very good breakfast, a beautiful interior pool, great fixatures and furniture. The cocktail bar & restaurant food are very good (their hamburger with Azorean bread is delicious). Finally, and most importantly, the staff is incredible: nice, pro, friendly, available, clear in communicating. Only downside is if you come with a car, you will have troubles parking easily - but that's not on the hotel. I recommend and will come back for sure.

Great location in the main town street with restaurants, souvenir shops etc within reach. Ambience was amazing, something between an art gallery and a hotel. Very clean, the swimming pool and sauna were a pleasant touch. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing but, as if this was not enough, guests could also order pancakes or omelettes a la carte included in the breakfast price.

Nothing to complain about. One very minor detail is that there were not many areas to hang things in the room (e.g. after using the pool we had to improvise to get out swimsuits hanged to dry).

The hotel was great! All the staff were so friendly, always ready to help and always approachable. There was fruit and biscuits and Azorean cakes in the room. It was our daughter's birthday and as a surprise the hotel baked her a small cake and put a sparkling wine in her room for us parents. The breakfast was great - varied with great fruit, daily changing fruit juices, different cheeses, Azorean specialities, cakes, fresh omelettes etc. The bar has fantastic drinks, including great lemonades and homemade iced teas. 10 out of 10!

From the second we arrived the experience at 9 Dors was exceptional. Our flights were changed so we arrived on the island 5 hours earlier than expected. We went to the hotel to ask to leave our bags, which they happily did but went above and beyond (thanks Pedro!) by giving breakfast!! This was so well received as we had missed our breakfast in the previous hotel due to the flight change. All the staff were amazingly helpful, the rooms beautiful and clean. The breakfast was outstanding with many imaginative offerings for vegans. Our departure flight was early so they gave us breakfast in a bag!! The pool area is gorgeous as is the hotel. Would insist on staying here again. Brilliant.
