location is very central, close to the railway station and practically to all places of interest, except of Casa da Musica, but it is far away from the city centre anyway. I found the bed comfy. The room had a desk and a fridge.
Breakfast starts too late - at 8:30. There's no elevator, so it might be a problem for people with heavy luggage and for elder or disabled people. No any shelf in the shower, so there's nothing to put bottles with shampoo and shower gel on - it's a small thing but would add to a comfort. No sound proofing, so you can hear every step of your neighbours.

The location was excellent as it was across the street from the Balhau Mercado and easy walking distance to many points of interest. The rooms very very nice and they had a small elevator where the suitcases could be taken upstairs. Breakfast was exceptional and the breakfast staff were excellent. Also they have a happy hour daily from 6-8 with local wines and port. The staff were excellent. Arthur was a great host and gave us lots of ideas on activities. Also we would like to commend both Soraia and Karol who were so friendly and helpful. Parking was located close by which was also helpful. We parked and then spent the rest of the time walking or using Uber.
There are a number of stairs to negotiate so it may be challenging for some. We didn’t find it an issue however.

Thought it was very good valve for money. It is very comfortable and quiet. Lots to eat at breakfast and the ladies who attended to us were so nice and nothing too much bother, We also met the owner who spoke passionately about Porto and the Douro river. Also free port wine on arrival!
From the front door you have a few steps to climb. The property does say there is only a lift to take suitcases to the appropriate floor but there are a number of steps to climb before you get to reception but it wasn’t a problem for us and I’m sure staff would help if required

You wouldnt know its a hotel from looking outside as there is no sign outside, you will have to go by the address as its beside a store. The hotel is through the narrow steps to the second to the 5th floor. The lounge is very pretty, and styled very nicely. The breakfast is very good, you get many choices. The staff are very nice and helpful. Its right across from Porto Fresh Market and the train station is only 10 mins walk and major sites including to walking to river is only 20 minute away. The famous McDonalds is around the corner.. so its very good central location.
We had our room on the top floor (3rd or 5th floor) and its a lot of stairs to climb. The rooms are small, the washrooms are clean but very small. Could use some hooks, as we traveled for Camino and hanging washed clothes was difficult. They could use shelving as there was 0 cabinets and tricky to unpack and pack things without cabinets to store things.

The hotel positively surprised me overall. The location is excellent – central yet quiet. From the outside, the building appears rather unassuming, but the interior impresses with its stylish and modern design. A special highlight was the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, who made the stay very enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and offer a high level of comfort.
One minor downside was the limited selection of vegan options at the breakfast buffet. It would be great if the hotel could expand its offerings to better accommodate different dietary preferences.

Fabulous location, so central and a 2 minute walk to/ from metro. A wonderful market directly opposite and so many shops, restaurants and cafes literally on the doorstep. The room was spacious and well appointed. Loved the shutters, they kept the room dark at night and cool in the day. Comfortable beds and excellent air con. A nice spacious bathroom. The large safe kept our passports and electricals safe during the day. Breakfast was very good. Great selection of food to suit all tastes- Carla, Carol and Soraia kept the breakfast table well stocked and replenished - a lot of the food was homemade on the premises. Their cheery “good mornings” set us up for the day. All the staff were so welcoming, friendly and keen to share ideas of places to visit in their beautiful city of Porto. Artur on reception was especially knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. We have recommended this wonderful B&B to many already!
Our “city view” (listed in the room details) from the bedroom was disappointing- a metal fire escape! Still it didn’t spoil the stay in anyway.

This was our third stay at B the Guest, and as always, everything was excellent. Tiago checked us in and we had a great chat. All staff members are so friendly and helpful, and this lovely boutique hotel is beautiful. It’s in a fantastic location right across from the Bolhao market (not to mention Mantegeiria for freshly made Pasteis de Nata). Our room was on the first floor and was very spacious. I love the little things they have thought of. There’s a spacious table with a comfortable chair for laptop work. And the vanity in the bathroom spans the width of the room, so lots of space to keep your toiletries, towels etc. The beds were super comfortable and our room had a nice little balcony if you wanted to step out for air. The breakfast buffet is lovely, and the women who work there are friendly and helpful. Sariah, Carla and coworkers were awesome! We sat in the gorgeous lounge last night for a glass of port. It’s such a beautiful room. We will hopefully return again next year to Porto and we will of course stay at B the Guest.
The only issue to note for others is that there are stairs involved. Not a problem for us, but this would not be the place for people with mobility issues. Also a minor suggestion for staff but a plug extension on either of the bed side tables would be great so you could plug the lamp and phone charger into the same outlet. Wasn’t a big deal as we made due.

We had a wonderful stay at B the Guest Downtown Porto. The staff were always present, attentive, and went above and beyond to meet our needs. What truly stood out was their outstanding care and professionalism during the recent blackout in Portugal. Despite the challenging circumstances, they remained calm, helpful, and ensured guests felt safe and comfortable. Thanks for the delicious rolls for dinner and bottomless glasses of wine. Their dedication made all the difference—and much appreciated.

Beautifully furnished excellent location. Amenities were excellent from breakfast , room detail and extra’s, books, hair dryer, fresh water .. Air conditioned and no noise level even though we were front room. Missed breakfast on our last day due to early checkout and a take out breakfast was put in our room the evening before. Very thoughtful and appreciated. Staff were very helpful and positive - excellent check in great communication from booking to checking in!
