The whole experience at Pestana Bahia Praia was just a bliss. The staff is incredibly helpful, the rooms are absolutely stunning and without a doubt worth the money. The breakfast variety was great, everything was delicious. I doubt anyone will find a better view than the one you get from this Hotel. A special shout out to Mrs. Nelia Neto from the housekeeping staff - she absolutely won our heart, she has an incredible attention to detail and guests needs, and went above and beyond by surprising us in our room with a special decor.

There is probably very little to nothing to say about any dislikes - perhaps the "fresh juices" for breakfast that do taste very artificial. And lastly the sauna - we have tried to use it a couple of times, but it never really heated up. We have tried to bring this up to the attention of the front desk, but were met with an excuse that the sauna wouldnt heat up to 80oC due to applicable local law - when it clearly stated outside that was an 80oC sauna. Frankly we were fine with this because we could also use the steam sauna and it wasnt a big deal, but I would just rather have someone tell me the sauna is broken/needs fixing, than hearing some sort of non-sense excuse.

The rooms were spacious, as were the bathrooms. Pool & beach accessibility was lovely. The front desk staff was polite & helpful & aided us in 1 restaurant & 1 activity reservation, both of which were very helpful.

The mattress was very uncomfortable & we found it hard to sleep. The restaurant was fine for breakfast, however, we had dinner on our first night as we were too tired to go out & for 30 euro per person, we were very disappointed in the food. The quality wasn't there & the 1 or 2 things that were decent were almost gone & not replaced.

This hotel is in perfect location for exploring the island if you rent a car. We loved the spacious room (junior suite) with a huge bathroom and the well-kept surroundings of the hotel. Breakfast is always the same but there are enough options for all tastes. We are especially grateful to Marta for her attention and great advice on planning our trips on the island. In short, we loved our stay.

It is standard for a 4 star hotel to have kettle and tea/coffee in the room (however, I was informed that kettle is available for a small additional charge).

Food was great, the pool was perfect for families and there were many family friendly extras such as bouncy castle and live singing and dancers. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. They also recommended a visit to a farm Quinta da Parodia which was an amazing experience for young children . Highly recommend.

The Air conditioner didn’t work in our room at all and the facility seemed dated. The gym was small. Kids playroom the toys for the younger kids were broken

We upgraded to get the ocean view at a small charge. We had fabulous sea views with a small balcony. The room/suite we were in was huge, the bed super, the bathroom exceptional. The staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommend and very good value.

The evening buffet style meal was plentiful and OK, , but at 30 Euros per person, excluding drinks, we felt was on the expensive side.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, they went above and beyond. They always remembered me, and my room number, and were helpful in finding taxis, and accepting my delayed suitcase. One time housekeeping didnt come in because I had left the do not disturb sign, and they slipped a card in the room saying they had come by. I really appreciated that! You know they didnt just forget. The food was good, and there was a lot of variety, something different every time. I also enjoyed walked around on the grounds, the beach, and used the pool (though only breifly!) I also enjoyed a massage treatment, which they helped me book! I will be back.

The BEST location on the island, on a cliff above a wide bay with direct access to a black, volcanic beach. The hotel is a bit old-dish so too expensive for the facilities but 10/10 for the location. We had the junior suite with sea view which was very spacious, had very comfortable beds and an amazing sunset view. Spacious grounds to walk around. Good breakfast with Azorean pineapple, local cheeses, local baked goodies like bolo levado - a sweet English muffin and queijadas. We slept very soundly with the balcony door open to the sound of the waves and we wish we could have stayed another day just to relax in its surroundings. I also loved the Castelbel bath products and the huge, fluffy towels.

The hotel is situated in a picturesque place, boasting a huge green territory, private parking and a beach entrance. The room was spacious enough for 3 people, with comfy beds and a nice balcony. We arrived on Christmas day, and the hotel restaurant was open, while everything else in the vicinity was closed, so we enjoyed a nice dinner. The staff is welcoming, friendly and very helpful. A small sauna was definitely a bonus after long hikes.
