Hotel has access directly on to the beach and all rooms have a sea view. Beach is one of the best on the island and has lifeguards on duty. There are a couple of restaurants and bars just across the road and a small local supermarket 5 mins walk along the road towards Ponta Delgada. Breakfast is basic but plentiful - fruit, breads, cold meats, cheese, boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, yogurt, cakes, tea, coffee, juice, water etc. Rooms are spacious and clean with small kitchenette with all you need to prepare basic meals. Showers are powerful with plenty of hot water. Staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English. Room was cleaned daily.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel over Christmas. The quiet atmosphere, with only a few other guests, may have added to our enjoyable experience. The hotel is situated right on the beach, and all the spacious balconies face the ocean, which is simply fantastic. While it’s not in the city center, this suited us perfectly. The room was large and included a separate kitchenette, which was very convenient. The staff was very friendly.

The kitchenette lacked a kettle, so we had to use the electric stove to boil water, which took forever:( The breakfasts were quite bland and remained the same throughout the week.

We traveled in the low season -- end of November. The rooms are nice. The hotel is on the beach, so you can access the beach and the sea from the backside of the hotel. The water was 24 degrees Celsius, so we went swimming every day. A bit of bad luck: thousands of small jellyfish were at the beach the last two days, so there was no swimming. Great, standard breakfast. A unique part of the hotel is that the sea is so close that you fall asleep with the sounds of the waves in your ears. The staff is very friendly, as almost everybody on the island. A taxi or a tour guide is just a telephone call away, so we made some nice trips on the island. A beautiful 40-minute walk along the sea takes you to the edge of the old city and 10 minutes more takes you to the old part. YOu get great value for money.

There is a small price to pay for being to close to the ocean: a bit of humidity. For instance, the bathing suits do not dry well, but luckily there is a hair dryer available.

It's on the beach. Big room (why the tiny bed?). Balcony was nice to have.

The sea is very loud. I could not sleep well. Breakfast is bad. Very little variety. We consistently saw people take their own food to breakfast. No AC. Sometimes our room was not cleaned properly. Double bed was not big enough for the two of us. They gave us an extra single bed tho. Parking was impossible in front of the hotel. 5 min away there was alwasys free space though. No laundry service (except for expensive per piece service)

Exceptionally beautiful. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the black sand beach and wonderful surf. We kept the patio doors open day and night so we could enjoy the sound of the pounding surf as we slept. The breakfasts were outstanding with a variety of food and drink to choose from. We sat in a section overlooking the beach. The hotel is centrally located and made it easy to drive to all the sights on the Island. The staff was very friendly. The hotel provided towels for the beach or if we went to the volcanic pools for us to use.

Parking was a challenge during different times of the day since the beach is very popular with surfers, hikers and sunbathers. there are 3 small restaurants that also use the same parking lot but we were always able to find a spot.

Although there are many more up market hotel options on the island, I love that this one is right on the beach, with having balconies facing the ocean. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves is delightful. The free breakfast is excellent, with local cheeses and tea, and excellent coffee machine with all the espresso your heart desires. There’s an unusually large parking lot for the island, where it is easy to park. Across the street are a few surprisingly good restaurants. One in particular has an excellent menu that rivals some of the well reviewed restaurants in ponta Delgada and Furnas. Although sao roque is a more simple village, walkable access to multiple beaches and restaurants. A fast drive to ponta Delgada. I recommend this hotel.

Maybe they could clean the curtain over the balcony door.

This place was very basic but we knew that. We really liked the balcony (all rooms have a balcony) that overlooked the beach and sea. You could hear the crashing waves every night if you leave the door open. Kettle was provided upon request. Breakfast was very basic too but good enough. It is in a great location, away but not too far from Ponta Delgada. Free parking just outside the hotel.

The hotel is situated right on the beach. Access can be gained from the lower ground floor straight onto the sand. The room had a great view of the beach and all the activities from our balcony - mainly people learning how to surf! The room is large with a seating area, separate kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is fairly well stocked and should you need anything you can ask. It was clean and the staff were very accommodating, opening up the breakfast room very early for us as we had an early flight from Ponta Delgado. No frills, but a great place if you want a beach stay.

The pillows were foam and lumpy. We only stayed one night, and would have asked for different ones if we had been there for longer.

Hotel was about 50 metres from the sea. It was very nice to hear the sound of the waves, and the room was cooler because the wind from the sea. Not too hot at all. Breakfast was very nice and has lot of different things to eat. There was nicely done fruit salad which tastes so delicious. Scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, ham, cheese and yougurt. Juices, coffee, tea and water to drink. croissants and cookies and lot more. There is nice restaurants near the hotel.

There was not a thing that I do not like!

Good hotel with spacious rooms including kitchenette (incl. microwave) and a nice balcony overlooking the beach and ocean. Three restaurants just on the other side of the road (grillroom, snackbar and an elaborate snackbar) with good food if you don't like to take the car to very good restaurants in Ponta Delgada or Lagoa. Extra beach towels at the reception desk and a dedicated access to the beach.

Breakfast is uninspired.
