The property was beautiful. The staff was helpful and so kind. We loved the reservable private hot tub and enjoyed relaxing in our room while we watched and listened to the ocean. The dinner was so delicious.

The bed was a bit too hard and the door knobs are difficult to manage. But they were minor inconveniences.

The hotel is in a quiet yet convenient location to explore the island of San Miguel. There is a lovely infinity pool and patio area with opportunities for outdoor dining while listening to the crashing waves below. We were able to reserve a secluded jacuzzi which was a relaxing way to end our day of exploring the island. Joao was extremely helpful in giving us information and directions of where to go on the island, how to park and activities available.

The hotel advertises itself as eco friendly but we felt like a lot of the design issues were more for show than for comfort. The cost of a nights stay was steep and because of this we had expectations similar to other hotels we have stayed at with similar costs. Our room was quite large which was appreciated but it faced an unattractive building and was located above the fan units for the hotel. Our biggest issue was that none of the staff seemed to be enjoying their work and made us feel as though our presence was a burden (with the exception of Andrea at breakfast). And lastly at no other place in Portugal was a tip included before asking if and how much we wanted to tip. This hotel got many glowing reviews but it just wasn't what we were hoping for.

Everything about this hotel was amazing. It's quaint, quiet, located right along the sea and was an overall relaxing experience. The staff was amazing, the food in the restaurant great, and the room was very comfortable. Plenty of free parking if you have a car. Try the hottub overlooking the ocean! If you're going to stay on Saint Miguel, this is the place you should stay.

I don't really have any negative comments. Be nice if there was a beach. But the hotel doesn't control that. Other than that the perfect place.

THE STAFF! Sandra, Vincent’s and Joao went above and beyond during our stay! They gave us the best check in experience, ensured we were aware of all the amenities at the hotel (don’t miss out on the hot tub reservation after a long day of hiking) and helped us optimally plan our days. Their sincerity and service were unparalleled! The view and location are also incredible. Very easy to drive to several hikes, waterfalls, grocery stores and running trails. Not to mention the complimentary breakfast is outstanding!

Not staying their long enough

Hotel was in a good location. Our room was very well appointed and had fantastic ocean views and spectacular sunsets.The property was very clean and modern in style. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Although the hotel was very good we didn't think it was good value for money. The food was not exceptional and although we would be happy to pay extra for the more personal service the actual price difference was too great.

This is an exceptional location with stunning views. The staff is very attentive, the service is excellent and the food is outstanding including a beautiful breakfast menu. The property is very easy to get to and from with plenty of free parking. We would highly recommend this venue and hope to be back ourselves.

The location, view, amenities, AND staff were all amazing! But a special thank you to the staff for being lovely from the beginning to the end of our trip. Any question or request that we had, they answered it and went above and beyond. A special bonus included the phone they provided to help with daily excursions outside the hotel and orders while you're at the hotel; this was really appreciated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view was gorgeous and the shared amenities were beautiful. We ate several meals at the hotel; the food was very good, particularly the cheese plate and sparkling sangria. A short walk from the resort was a lovely paved walking/running path along the water. We appreciated the extra touches like the "hut" you could reserve for your own use to do what you liked, such as yoga, meditation, a nap, etc. It provided privacy with sliding doors that opened to a fabulous view of the water. There was also a heated spa that we reserved on another evening. All of the staff spoke excellent English and many of the other guests were American, as are we. This hotel was written up in the New York Times which is how we found it. It was reviewed as sleek minimalism which is accurate. I'd add the views are breathtaking. We visited Lisbon, Cascais, Barcelona and this resort in the Azores - the Azores were our favorite part of the trip - a must see.

Unbeatable view. Perched on the edge of the world. Utterly sublime.

Food was subpar, so we opted to go out to eat most of the time. Normally this would be a dealbreaker, but everything else was so fantastic it was worth it.

The staff was above and beyond. The location was perfect for staging tours by day and nightlife options alike. Gorgeous Gorgeous! One of the nicest hotels you'll ever stay.... it's worth it!

I don't like that I'm not there currently. And I think they're top notch trying to out do the beauty of the island... very easy and tempting to stay on premise... especially the facilities... so don't get stuck there... there's lots to see and do on Sao Miguel!
