The location was great, great spot for morning walks along the water. I'm giving 10 because some of the reviews are a bit harsh, in reality I would give it an 8. The buffet was generous and had a lot of variety including gluten free options smoothies coffee fresh fruit pastries hot food. The gym was great had dumbbells up to 20kg. Cardio machines and 2 different assisted weight machines. There were thermal pools and spas. The staff were lovely, efficient and check in was smooth. There are a few reviews complaining about this but for our big group there was no probs. Iron and hair dryer, toiletries, tea and instant coffee in the room. The room service food was decent, and there were options 24/7. The bed was comfortable and there was a variety of different thicknesses.

The beds were comfortable. We like the indoor pools but the no jumping no diving signs need to be prominently displayed and staff need to make regular checks. The buffet breakfast was good but no omelette or pancake and no baked beans - whats with that? I heard people asking for an omelette and pancakes and got a grumpy lady saying ‘its only whats on the board’. You could do with some friendlier faces on staff.

They need an express check in counter. We checked in online but when we arrived it was a usual check in experience. They also need more staff at the counter. Our room wasn’t ready despite arriving an hour later than we’d indicated.

Stayed here 8 years ago and loved the bed so happy to come back. We liked our room, loved access to the spa, loved our night in the bar, a few patrons, young and old and a lovely couple singing old songs and the atmosphere was very relaxing. A great selection of food when we had dinner in the restaurant.

I'm old school and didn't like that there wasn't a booklet explaining all that was available in the hotel. EG, room service, laundry, opening hours of gym and spa. I did scan the QR code but there wasn't a lot of information. We weren't happy that our milk for our morning tea wasn't restocked :(

Getting abused and attacked by an intoxicated woman who should have been kicked out of the hotel and banned from there and anywhere else. It was absolutely disgusting that I had to wake up the next morning to see her outside my window still ringing out of a wine glass from her room still on the premises then going through the car park trying to break into the vehicles belonging to anyone staying there. The police should have been involved. That’s a disgrace to NZ and shows how things are in NZ. Too soft and no concerquence

Very comfy beds, good air conditioning, close to amenities, spacious rooms, good Wifi with Chromecast on the TV (once you've worked it out). I didn't try the breakfast (it has some detractors) but the location means it's easy to find alternatives.

As some have mentionned, the bathrooms are a little tired, could do with a proper walk in shower rather than a fixed shower head over a bath. The 'swimming pool' is tiny. Stains on the carpet not really a problem but I can see how some, might not like it. These are just niggles however, overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Great spot. Nice and close to everything. Restaurant was an absolute treat. Hot pools are fabulous.

Although not directly the hotel. There should be a warning about the parking situation. The parking company are atrocious. You pay for parking and they overfill the carpark so ended up having to park on street overnight despite paying. A month after stay, received a breach notice and fine which payable the next day after receiving or penalties would apply. Disputed the breach and took weeks to sort out. Stressful and tainted the whole trip.

We had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel is very comfortable, with excellent staff and a great breakfast, and the location couldn’t be better. However, of the four hotels we stayed at during our holiday in New Zealand, this one—despite being the most expensive—fell short in some areas. The bathroom was the main issue. They had a sign apologizing for the rust, explaining that the local geothermal water, high in sulfur, causes it. While we understand the reasoning, we feel that a bit more maintenance could really improve the experience, as it’s not entirely comfortable to use the facilities as they are. Additionally, there wasn’t a hairdryer in the bathroom, although the staff quickly provided one when requested, and they were very friendly about it. In summary, a comfortable stay with great service, but the bathroom conditions could be improved for the price range.

Our overall stay was really enjoyable! The location was amazing. (main reason we booked here) the staff were great and we loved the pool and gym facilities which we used everyday. Loved that the pool stayed open till 11pm and away from guest rooms so you weren't told to be quiet etc. we also loved the buffet breakfast each morning although most mornings it was evident that they were short staffed and we found sometimes tables were fully booked and couldnt accomodate guests staying.

The room was fit for purpose but a little run down. Toilet was old and stained and bathroom and room in general was tired and out dated. We had to also approach reception twice to advis them that our rooms werent serviced. Not a biggy but we specifically left for the day with the sign on our door to advise we were out and cleaners would be on our floor and we would come back and our rooms werent serviced. The cost of the buffet dinner was a little too excessive in our opinion as well. Think it was approx. $61.00 per adult.

Location is excellent and I had a nice view from my room to the lake.

Very dirty carpets in the corridors. Breakfast was not bad in variety and quality but the waiters, except of two middle aged ladies, were youngsters without any experience no clue of what a client needs or how to do things. Clearly either trainees or working during school vacation. I had to point out that the coffee machine needs to be emptied from the coffee grains in order to work and they would not understand, until one of the above mentioned older ladies started explaining to them.

It was a good central location and walking distance to nearby restaurants. The front desk lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful and upgraded us to a good room view. The carpet needs a decent deep cleaning as stains were on it and the bathroom needs to be clean properly. I identified a hazard in the laundry room and reported that and I had injured myself with bruising but not that serious. Thanks to the RD Supervisor that called me to check up on me and it was proactive of her.
