Great location,easily walkable to town centre/Castle. Friendly helpful staff, great breakfast and lovely room. Chose hotel for location and pool facilities.

Booked this hotel as it had a pool, however on arrival learnt extra £10 per person to use facilities. Apparently mentioned somewhere in small print. In fairness to the hotel, gave us a voucher to use pool once during our stay. Wouldn't choose this hotel again; when booking a hotel with pool facilities for this price would expect use of facilities to be included.

Staff was very attentive and kind. Location is good: close to city centre and Queen Street train station (1 stop away from Cardiff Bay). The room was clean and equipped with hairdryer, iron, fridge and the bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower. Daily housekeeping if needed

The food in the restaurant is not recommended. The quality is very low and waiting times long. I would not book breakfast included, very little options and tasteless food. Spa facilities are £10 per entry so if you are going in 3 times a day (no matter how long you stay) you’d pay £30.

Quick checking , great location, as near tot own centre

Charging people 10£ to use the pool , even as a guest, it seems ridiculous.Someone from outside of the hotel pays the same amount to use the pool.If your stay is for 3 days , you pay 3 times to use the pool. This is the first time where I had to pay to use a hotel's facilities

Room was large and quality fittings

1 paying £10 to use the pool 2 booking a quiet room. Which wasn't quiet because it was next to the lift and the house travelled through the walls

Staff were great and apologetic for the room not being ready ( due to call centre not transferring that information) They organised so I could use the shower and get changed , looked after my baggage untill I could get into my room lovely ladies on the desk. Good breakfast choice and very tasty.

The lift was backing onto my room and woke me up frequently, the booking through booking . com was fkng awful , information wasn’t passed onto the hotel, I couldn’t contact the hotel directly to check and I could hardly understand the call centre ,please at least have people who can speak fluent English or better still have a UK call centre it’s put me off booking through booking .com in the future that’s for sure.

I've stayed here about 5 times altogether and always book a little night away for my parents ..was very disappointed I booked my parents a night away on January 3rd for a chritsmas present to find out they wanted 25 pound for them to use the spa facilities and pool and also 10 pound each for a dry robes..so was very disappointed to hear that as they haven't got much money and it spoilt my present to them 😢 so going forward I will not be staying in the mercure ever again..staff were very friendly so can't take that away from them but a bit of a shock you pay to stay somewhere and can't use the facilities

The rooms are large, comfortable, clean, spacious and beautiful. The bathroom is clean. There is a shower and a large, comfortable bathtub. The breakfast is excellent and the service is excellent.

There is a problem with the entry and exit of the hotel for people with special needs, as each time you need someone from the staff to operate the special elevator, even though they are very cooperative with people with special needs. Overall the hotel is very excellent. Solutions must be found for this problem that concerns employees and customers. There was a problem with the booking company as they did not send the information that breakfast was included in the booking.

Was attending a concert at the Principality Stadium so location of hotel was excellent for this as could park at hotel and an easy walk to stadium & city centre. The room was large with good air con. The furniture is a little dated but to be honest we were only there for one night and its location was a much higher priority for us. Breakfast was good and value for money as there was a half price offer. Would recommend for a long weekend as in good location and away from the noisy centre. Staff were helpful and doing their best as it was very exceedingly hot and very busy due to numerous concerts taking place this weekend.

We had a Queen room on the 8th floor which was a good size with all the facilities we needed and great views over to the Bay. We intended to stay for only 3 nights but due to family circumstances stayed for 13 nights. The staff helped to make sure we could stay in the same room for convenience and the room was large enough to be comfortable for an extended stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly on reception Very nice bar / lounge area. Easy parking in the hotel basement or public parking area next to the hotel.

We had fairly hot weather (low 20s) and the room air con was not very effective. We stayed for 13 nights and were charged a daily rate. A discount for longer stays would encourage people to consider this option. We would look for an apartment next time as they are better value.

Why is there a £10 access charge for residents to use the pool? I can understand a charge for non-residents, but residents should not be charged.
