The hotel was magnificent, perhaps the most beautiful in London. The decor is breathtaking, from room to lobby. An excellent luxury hotel. The staff were extremely professional, kind and helpful, truly 5-star. The room had all the amenities and was comfortable and gorgeous, but wasn't as clean as one would expect. The bath tub was so comforting, and the marble in the bathroom was beautiful and luxurious. The breakfast wasn't great but lunch with room service was excellent, we had the burger and carbonara. The location is terrific, just two minutes away from Gloucester Road Underground Station, quite a useful one with Piccadilly, District and Circle line services. East reach to all of Central London (City, Westminster, Soho, Covent Garden, etc). We had a Swedish massage in the spa which was one of the best we ever had. The spa staff are amazing as well, very welcoming and helpful. The sauna however is quite small and we didn't really enjoy it.

As written above, we didn't really enjoy breakfast and the sauna, and the room wasn't as clean as one would expect from such a wonderful hotel.

The service standard and comfortable decoration in the hotel and room was excellent. The staff were comparably far better than other 'big' hotels in the area. I would definitely stay there again for that reason alone. The shower was exceptional with good water pressure and flow. At the point of booking we asked for a quiet room and when we arrived we were upgraded to a larger room. Yay!

Some of the decor was a little tired and could do with some minor maintenance. Why are lifts always grubby looking? On one day while we were out the housekeeper attended to their duties but must have left the hot tap in the basin on full blast. When we got back to the room at the end of the day the tap was open and hot water was running and had splashed (good water pressure!) onto the bathroom floor. We did a quick mop up and reported it. From experience I am now preferring beds that have two separate bases and a quality combined mattress so that my partner's movements are not disturbing to me and vice versa. This was not the case here.

The hotel does not cater for the volume and therefore staff can offer individual attention. One can have breakfast with dignity and not fight through a crowd, as is the case with most hotels. It is very quiet and the rooms are bigger than standard. Toiletries are high quality, complementing the high quality of the furnishings. The location is upscale. The building is a historical building and the hotel respected this rather than partitioning the much bigger Victorian rooms into much smaller modern ones. The traveller who loves that epoch will find great appeal in this hotel.

We liked the hotel was near Harrods and other places we wanted to visit within the area. Hotel was secure and safe with card needed to access lift and rooms. Quiet location. Staff were very polite and eager to help when asked. Room service available if needed. We liked the heated flooring in the hallway and warm throughout, beds were very comfortable. Liked the free toiletries to use and mini fridge to stock our provisions.

The room was a little tired looking in areas, stains on the chair, sofa and headboard. Bathroom needs remodelling in areas, side of the bath, grouting. Room was dusty in areas, curtains needed steaming to deep clean.

I stayed for 4 nights with family. Location is perfect, especially for what we had planned, a match at Stamford Bridge, visits to the museums, etc. Staff were very welcoming and responsive. Hotel is small and good. Room was appropriate for the price. Bed was comfortable, bathrooms were very good.

Hotel needs a bit of renovation and upgrade to be a top notch, but then prices would also be higher so all in all, I recommend the hotel for the price range it offers.

My 20th visit to this hotel. Last few were mixed bag. This time, things appeared better overall for the cleanliness, room furnishings and house keeping. They are always short staffed (always) which means no one ever picks the phone up - be it house keeping, reception or an operator- the phones would keep rining and ringing and ringing.. so if you need anything, you need to physically come down to the reception.

Short staffed and dining room staff never visible. For 2 days in a row, walked to the dining room for b'fast but staff fully engrossed in their phones and didn't bother looking and left for the kitchen.. Walked out and ended up having b'fast for all 3 days next door to a great new b'fast place "The Other Kitchen".. Wish the management took interest in improving this incredibly great property with awesome large rooms, decor, bathrooms and furnishings.. Short staffing is killing this iconic property

We loved our stay. We got upgraded to a suite which was fantastic and very kind of the staff Location was brilliant a short walk to the station Very very comfortable bed, great pillows and felt luxurious Jet bath tub 👍🏾 Nice touches in the bathroom for women Enough of everything, towels, toilet roll, bathroom products

There was quite a bad sewer smell in the lobby Our TV had no volume but we didn’t turn on the TV until late, and didn’t want to disturb the staff Very dated, from head to toe. It didn’t bother us, but just very dull

Very quiet property and in excellent location. Luxurious interiors and also room amenities. Reception staff give you individual attention throughout your stay and they do their utmost to accommodate your requests. Hotel is very clean. Excellent SPA facilities including even a Hammam room; Therapist named 'Comfort' is excellent.

Breakfast menu can be improved with for example, fresh juices and more cooked options. However it is fine.
