My stay at Hotel Von in Iceland was an absolute delight! Nestled amidst the nicest shops, numerous restaurants, and vibrant nightlife, the location couldn't be better for exploring and enjoying the local scene. The room itself was the epitome of cozy, offering a warm and inviting space to unwind after a day of adventure. While the absence of a coffee machine was noted, this minor detail was far outweighed by the pleasant surprise of an upgrade to a family room on the street side. Despite the lively area, the room remained a quiet haven, ensuring restful nights. Hotel Von's strategic location, combined with the comfort of the accommodations and the serene environment, even amidst the buzz, made my stay memorable. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a blend of convenience, comfort, and the best of Icelandic hospitality.
Despite the cozy charm and perfect location of Hotel Von in Iceland, the lack of a coffee machine in the room was a notable downside for me.

Speaking from someone working in the industry, I can say that the hotel is absolutely fantastic. The staff is friendly, rooms are well cleaned, extremely comfortable and well maintained. The location couldn't have been better. For anyone looking for a hotel in Reykjavik: This is an absolutely fantastic choice!
My only recommendation is putting a towel in front of the shower, as the water does not flow away fast enough.

The location is brilliant, on the main strip, plenty of bars and restaurants, shop next door, near bus stops, great view of the harbour, nice and warm. Friendly staff, shout out to Gatis.
It would have been nice to have some sort of coffee in the room, there were a couple of tea bags but no sugar or milk. There isn't a lot of space to open your luggage and none at all to store your clothes. The pillows weren't the most comfortable

The hotel is right in the middle of where you need to be. Close to lots of restaurants and shops. The waterfall shower in the room was amazing! Room very clean and made up every day. Staff very friendly. Can't comment on the restaurant as didn't use it, but looks nice.
Shower needs a longer cover as every time we used it, it soaked the floor/bathmat. Pillows were a little flat for my liking but still slept really well.

The hotel is exactly what we needed for a 3 night stay in Reykjavik! The location was perfect and it was easy to get around on foot to the cafes, restaurants and other sites. It was also close to bus stops for tour pick up and drop offs! The room was small but exactly what we needed and the shower had great pressure and lovely smelling toiletries - exactly what we needed to try and recover from our jet lag. The only “negative” comment to make would be due to the placement of the shower door, the bathroom floor often got wet. Aside from that everything was wonderful, the staff were super friendly and helpful and we were even able to check in early which was a godsend after our flight from Canada arrived at 5:30am. I highly recommend Hotel Von to anyone visiting Reykjavik and I can’t wait to go back some day soon! :)
As I mentioned above, only one small complaint about the shower getting the floor a bit wet but other than that it was all wonderful!!

First of all, I really appreciated the staff even before I got there because they had helped me get transportation to the hotel. When I got there, they upgraded my room and the room was ready for me even though I got to the hotel at 10:30 in the morning. That is a rarity when you are traveling internationally. I found the location perfect because it was located in a quiet part of the main road but it was only like a 10 minute walk to where the majority of the restaurants and bars are located. It was also never more than 25 minutes from any of the tourist locations. The rooms were beautiful, and there is a nice restaurant and bar located in the lobby. My room was always cleaned, and I never had to ask for anything other than ice which I was able to get that regularly from the bar.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable but at least it was a larger size bed. This is a minimal complaint but the shower had no door which then sprayed water all over the floor. It was obnoxious but I figured out how to deal with it, and it didn't impact my stay at all.

We stayed over the weekend here. Excellent location in the heart of the city. There are tons of restaurants and shops around. Deluxe Double room is a good size for 2 people, spotless, modern, having a comfortable bed. We requested a quiet room on the upper level (facing the sea side) upon reservation. And they provided exactly what we asked for. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The only downside was that hotel didn’t provide any breakfast. However, there is a free high quality coffee machine at reception available 24/7. And there are few places nearby available for breakfast in the early morning. Can recommend Sandholt (bakery & coffee shop with a seating area) or Grái kötturinn (American style breakfast). Both places are just few mins away by foot. We also booked the Golden Circle tour through the hotel in advance. It started at around 9.00am (but the waiting time outside could be about 30-40 mins) and took about 9 hours with the multiple stops ie Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysers, Fridheimar Farm & restaurant for lunch and the Secret Lagoon. They pick you up from the nearest bus stop N9 which is just 5 min walk from the hotel. From/To the airport you can use FlyBus services. You can buy the tickets online or at arrivals. Or you can also book the return tickets to the airport at the hotel reception. In general, we had quite a pleasant stay (regardless of the pouring rain;-) and could highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is perfectly situated along the Main Street in Reykjavik. Access to the Bónus supermarket next year is very beneficial with all restaurants and tourist shops within a very short distance. Bus stop 9 is just down the road which is where pick up for various day trips and transfers is from. The beds are comfortable and there's a lovely view over the city from the room. The staff are so kind and helpful from the moment you enter the premises. I felt very safe in the hotel as you cannot get up to the bedrooms in the hotel without scanning your key card. The provision of two duvets on the bed is ideal as you avoid any hassle with duvet stealing and it can make it more comfortable sleeping in the warmth of the room.
The glass on the shower is very small which can result in water getting all over the bathroom when showering. A waterfall shower head and detachable shower head are provided. The waterfall shower head was not utilised to try avoid getting water everywhere as the glass provides so little protection. The rooms are extremely warm which can make it uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. We left the window open the entire duration of our stay but it was still very clammy.

On site cafe has excellent breakfast for purchase and very accommodating. The hotel desk staff ( hey Jose!) were polite, knowledgeable and very helpful. The location was excellent and in walking distance from most restaurants and attractions. The room was very Scandinavian (imagine that!) with very comfortable beds, very clean and at a very reasonable price, especially for such a prime location.
Like every where in Iceland, there is no air conditioning which was not a problem with an operable window. Since you are right on the main street, there can be occasional sound from some pedestrians. but there was no street noise. Really pretty quiet at night

The hotel is in a perfect location in the heart of central Reykjavik and a great base for exploring the city. The beds were comfortable, and the curtains darkened the room nicely, blocking out the midnight sun. The windows open slightly, but if your room faces the street, it can be loud. It was unusually warm when we were there and our room was quite warm. If you are coming in the summer, a small rechargeable fan may be helpful if the heat bothers you. With the windows closed, it was quiet. A kettle was provided in the room, which I appreciated for making tea and instant oatmeal. Staff was very friendly and helpful and arranged a taxi for us to the cruise port the day of our cruise. Breakfast was not included, although it was available at an extra cost. It was an easy walk to Braud & Co for the famous cinnamon rolls and pastries though! We had a rental car and had no problem finding parking within a block or two of the hotel although it's important to note there are several parking zones and they charge different rates. Parking is generally free overnight. If you don't have a car, there is bus service all over the city or you can walk most places easily. It was a lovely small hotel and we'd stay again!
We stayed here at both the beginning and end of our stay, in two different categories of room, one smaller than the other. The smaller room was not as clean (food on the floor behind the curtain) and the showers in both rooms tended to leak onto the floor because of the way they were configured. Not a big deal, but an extra towel or a fully enclosed shower/curtain would have helped contain the water. The hallways were dimly lit, which lent to a relaxing and quiet atmosphere, but some folks with already impaired vision may have found it too dark. We like to take the stairs and the stairways were also dimly lit. Again, not a big deal, but it was surprising there wasn't more light in the hallways and stairwells.
