From arrival untill departure the staff were very friendly , professional, kind and helpful, they were courteous and we had a problem with our car and they were very patient and helpful. The hotel is dated on the outside of the building but was very grand inside ,and clean. The location was superb and ticked all our boxes, it looked very grand . We had sea view room and it didn't disappoint , we enjoyed the late evening in the bar which was well stocked and relaxing . The breakfast was self service and enjoyable , I would book the car parking as it is limited, and was brilliant, one less thing to worry about 😄
A small point was that the bar closed at 11 pm and the shutters were closed and lights were lowered although the staff again were very kind and helpful

Walking distance to open air theatre, reasonably priced food and drinks, not hectic
There’s no tables suitable for eating meals in the bar so had to have fish and chips balancing on our laps. Was definitely freezer/microwave food too.

The location was great - very quiet, which was just what I needed. You do need to be reasonably mobile to get around because public transport is very limited. This may change once the summer holiday season is in full swing of course. However, the hotel does have parking. The breakfast was amazing - cereals, full cooked breakfast and toast were available every day along with juice and coffee. There was a good range of bar food available, as well as several chef's special offers. The staff were all really friendly. Once you've paid for your room on arrival, any extras e.g. bar food are paid for directly which is great if you need to budget for your stay.
The route from the railway station to the North Bay could be better signposted. The journey was longer because of the rail improvements that are taking place, and it wasn't obvious where I needed to be heading.

The outside of the hotel is in need of some tlc, on arrival our 1st impressions were "this doesn't look good" but once inside it is the polar opposite, quite smart, neat, clean and nicely decorated. The room was spotlessly clean and the standed of decor was beyond our expectation. Breakfast [buffet style] was very very good and for us would be difficult to be improved upon. The staff without exception were exemplary.
We booked a room with a sea view [extra cost] the room we got was on the ground floor [not ideal if you want a view of anysort] on the side of the building not facing the sea, saying we had a sea view I think was streaching a point, we could see the sea if we stood up and looked sideways.

We were very pleasantly surprised when arriving at the Clifton the reception area was very well presented and the staff were welcoming and helpfull. We didn't book a room with a view but our room was very clean and comfortable. A special mention for our Breakfast everything you could have wanted was there for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and also our Bar meal we had on one night of our stay. When we revisit Scarborough we will certainly be staying at the Clifton.
It would have been nice to have had a restaurant available for an evening meal as well as the bar meals that were available. But it did not spoil our stay at the Clifton.

The property from the outside looks dated and when we arrived I was worried. But inside was lovely and clean and even though it's a bit dated it was perfect for what we paid for. The rooms were clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The views from the hotel are fantastic and didn't expect to have such a great view from our room. The rooms are very big lots of space for your items and a lovely seating area in the bay window with a stunning view. The parking outside was easy, the staff were friendly and the hotels location is perfect for exploring Scarborough. We will be back
The food was poor quality imo but it was cheap so you get what you pay for. There was a good selection at breakfast though and lots of choice in the bar menu. The walls and floors are thin, you can hear people in next rooms and upstairs but didn't bother us as everyone was quiet by 10pm latest

The hotel and staff were lovely. Small double room but enough space for 2. Bathroom newly refurbed so that was lovely and modern. Free infused iced water alongside vending machine (everyone loves a vending machine!). Didn't eat in the hotel however the restaurant on appearance looked appealing and would happily do so if stayed again. Stayed for the concert at the arena so elevated price on that night, which equated to double the price of a normal night, which is annoying but expected. Overall I'd definitely stay again and would recommend the hotel. Also there are a few benches overlooking the beach from the cliff so great place to sit for an hour or so.

The hotel was in an excellent location and very close to the beach with ample parking . All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room itself was very clean and a nice size for twin singles and two chairs and a table very cozy.It was a nice touch having a fridge in the room and also an iron and ironing board. The coffee making machine was a lovely touch also. It was nice to wake up on the morning we were leaving to a lovely fresh coffee. The fan that was in the room was very useful and kept us cool throughout the night. My dog also felt very comfortable there and was very settled. It excelled my expectations. I have never been to Scarborough before and really enjoyed my stay there, the people were very friendly and there was plenty to see and do . It was a very clean tidy place with a lot of warmth and ambiance. I am definitely going back.

I went for a show at the Open Air Theatre and it's in perfect distance. It's less than a 10 minute slow walk there. They had a good fan that helped as it was a warm night and they had a heater as well just incase it was cold. There was a TV on a bracket that could be adjusted easy enough to be visible anywhere in the room. The beds were clean and really comfy, good drink making facilities for coffee and tea (even if it isn't Yorkshire Tea). There was a coffee machine and a mini fridge which you don't often see in most hotels. I booked this hotel before seeing the '2-star hotel' part and thought I might've made a mistake. It was almost perfectly fine, the staff were great and friendly and it was completely past what I was expecting. Would definitely keep this hotel in mind if I'm going to Scarborough again.
The floor in the room felt like it had a slope to it (potentially due to subsidence with the building being close to the edge of the cliff) which could be expected in time for an older building, it may become a bigger problem in the future though. The TV was only held in by the top 2 bolts on the bracket and it made pulling it out from the wall a bit concerning. The toilet was a little bit too close to the wall for someone my height (6'2").

We booked last minute to extend my wife’s birthday weekend, we were met with lovely staff who checked us in early they helped with directions and places to eat , we later asked for extra pillows there was absolutely nothing too much trouble. Our room was huge with a comfortable king size bed , setee and table and chairs in both bay windows giving us amazing panoramic views across the whole bay , all very clean and maintained. We returned later to have a drink in a very reasonable priced bar with a lovely lady serving us. We had breakfast in the morning that was buffet style it was hot and freshly topped up with a good selection to start the day . 100% would rebook in a heartbeat it was so relaxing and welcoming genuinely couldn’t fault the place . We even had a reserved named car park space for the duration of the stay . The walk into town was about 10 minutes so probably wouldn’t suit everyone but we thought our room and overall stay at the hotel was well worth the walk . Hoping to return before the end of the year with family . Thank you to all at the Clifton !!
Nothing.
