We had a connecting room on the first floor, one with single beds for our tednage kids and one with a double room for us. The rooms were spacious with windows opening to a side street. This could have been a noisy experience (with a cafe nearby where people were sitting out and having a good time late into the night) but the hotel has had the most amazing sound proofing - with the windows closed you couldn't hear a thing. The location is brilliant, literally across from the Marina. Breakfast was excellent and even the coffee was OK. We often stayed on the terrace of the restaurant to finish our coffees to enjoy the brilliant view and the sunshine. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the beach, which you can book at reception. It didn't go every day but we used it once. The sauna and gym on the first floor are excellent. We had coffee machines in the room with 4 capsules (for 2 people for 4 nights) but no milk or sugar. Also, there was a sign saying that if you need a refill it's €3/ capsule. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day.

Just minor things: rooftop swimming pool was quite cold, not really useful in February. Paper cups in the room and bathroom instead of proper cups and glasses. Needing to pay for extra coffee capsules in the room and lack of milk and sugar. However, there's a Spar nearby, so you can get milk and sugar if needed. When I asked for transfer price from airport they quoted a ridiculously high price. We just used Bolt instead, only a couple of euros as airport is literally a 10-15 minute drive.

We arrived at 8AM, and although we did not expect to be able to checkin at that time, I had hoped we might get our room by 11-11:30. I was sorry...and very tired ...that we had to wait until 2:30 for our room.

The maid service gave us a floor lamp from the landing on 3 rd floor.

We loved the location; in close proximity to all the bars, shops, and restaurants. There's lot's of culture and history to explore nearby. We enjoyed the breakfast which had a great selection of hot and cold foods, pastries, juices, fruits, yogurt and cereals. The room was clean and spacious. We liked the roof terrace bar which overlooked the marina and cobbled streets and old buildings.

Considering this was a 4* hotel, we felt it was in need of some renovations and modernisation as some areas were tired looking (such as the flooring in the room which was torn in places and tiles in the corridors which were chipped - little things like this made the appearance of the hotel rated lower than it should have been). The only other thing we were disappointed about was that the coffee pods in our room were not replenished in the morning so we couldn't enjoy an espresso on the balcony when we woke up and had to wait until breakfast. Otherwise it was a wonderful stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Faro.

Our stay at Hotel Faro was exceptional. The location is ideal for exploring both the charm of Old Town and the stunning coast. Breakfast was a highlight—healthy, abundant, and featuring delicious pastia de nata. After watching a spectacular sunset, we had an unforgettable experience enjoying wine and whisky, thoughtfully brought to us by Gabriel. He was an outstanding young man and a true credit to both himself and the hotel. We wish him well in his studies and congratulate the hotel for fostering such a wonderful culture. Highly recommend!

Not being able to use the pool, it was due to the weather

I was staying in Portugal on my first solo trip. The hotel was beautiful, gorgeous rooms, fantastic views from the rooftop bar/ restaurant and to top it off the breakfast was delicious with lots of options. For me, the members of staff were the highlight of my stay. They made me feel so comfortable and most of all, safe. They were attentive, kind and warm. As someone travelling alone it really did make my stay in Faro. A few names to mention in particular - Isabela, Bernardo, Bruno, Humberto and Gabriel who went above and beyond for me. A note of thanks too for the lovely Patricia who always had a massive smile in the mornings and would take time to check in on me when I was at breakfast I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return.

Central location so perfect from getting the number 16 from the airport to the hotel. Best hotel in the marina area. Near all the shops, restaurants and bars. Clean and tidy, great staff and breakfast really lovely. Rooms were big too. Rooftop areas so lovely with bar and dip pool and restaurant. Private bus which you book through reception to the beach area was a lovely touch. Do recommend getting the ferry too to the beach as an experience through the marshes, located next to the yellow building at the marina! Beach was Praia de Faro and stunning. Taxi back booked at the hotel was around 20 euros so not far at all! The sunsets at the marina were amazing!

Nothing really - all good

It was our first stay in Faro (although we are regular visitors to Portugal) so choosing a hotel in an unknown city always involves some jeopardy. We need not have worried - it was fantastic. Great location, super comfortable beds and the inclusive breakfast was possibly the very best I have ever seen (I will be 60 in June and am well-travelled)...even the expensive offerings (e.g. smoked salmon) were regularly replenished...we wanted for nothing. The top floor space where breakfast/lunch/dinner were served was beautiful and a lovely place to simply chill of an afternoon. The staff were flawless...a big shout out to those not usually acknowledged...our room and all the public spaces were spotless, testament to the often unrecognised efforts of the cleaning staff. Oh, and a big thank you to Hugo and Marina at the front desk, helpful and cheerful and genuinely lovely...Muito Obrigado everyone!

For the price, it could not be bettered.

Breakfast perfect. Room overlooking the marina was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly.

No cupboard space in the bedroom. The system for the evening meal was very poor. You had to have a set 3 course meal for 39 euros or nothing and you could not sit overlooking the marina if you did not eat the set meal. Very disappointing for such a good hotel. Went to this hotel to swim every day but the pool was cold every day despite asking for it to be heated to a proper temperature. Hence no one used it at all.

Very good breakfast with a large variety of good quality options. Bar area and roof top terrace were good. Great location for old town and marina, with many good restaurants close by. Rooms and communal areas were spotlessly clean but with a minimalist feel. rooms were quiet and well insulated for noise compared with other similar hotels.

Some of the reception staff (not all) were not as helpful with requests for assistance as we would have expected. The lift stopped at our room floor every time we used it even if we wanted to go from ground to the terrace, not a big issue but did get irritating.

We liked the views from the rooftop bar and pool. The breakfast was very good and there was lots to choose from each morning. The location was perfect for exploring and day trips. The hotel was spotless and the room was cleaned everyday.

There was only one chair in a room for 2 people, another would have been nice. When on the rooftop in the evening we found the staff weren't attentive if you just wanted drinks, we had to wait quite a while for someone to serve us. The hairdryer isn't great if you have lots of hair to dry, take your own. It would have been nice to have a welcome pack in the room with opening and closing times of breakfast, the bar, the pool, menus or local attractions.
