Lovely, large, traditional, stylish property with fridge, hairdryer, kettle and large comfortable bed. Water, tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits provided. Lovely bathroom with good, hot shower. Juliette balconies with double doors from bathroom. Excellent location in the middle of the old town and right next to the ancient walled city centre. Hosts were remote but were instantly available by phone. Excellent value for money. Lots of information is sent prior to visit and a handy map with hotel recommendations was available at the property entrance. We really enjoyed our stay.

The parking, although free was very crowded and it took ages to find a space. In the end we didn't use the car we hired for fear of not being able to park again. The car park is a 10 min walk from the property over fairly rough streets. I Messaged the host and got no reply, although they did specify WhatsApp, so make sure you ring or use WhatsApp. I had to ring at 3 pm to gain the code, which was supposed to be messaged to me and they are not flexible on arrival times, which is fair but inconvenient as we had a very early flight.

Everything was super - location, cleanliness, facilities......

I did have a problem getting the access code to my room when I arrived. I didn't receive the documentation to be completed and submitted until I actually arrived at the property. I then had to wait almost an hour for clearance? As a female travelling on my own, first time in Faro, this was not a good experience. It ought to be possible to fill out the required documentation for Portuguese authorities at least a day in advance? Once travel has commenced, it is not always possible to deal with emails!

Senhor Gigi is a magical place that captures the personality of Faro. It has a charming ambiance. Our room had doors and windows that opened to provide a view of the lane below with its cafes and shops, framed by leafy tree branches. Tucked away on a charming Faro lane, it never felt loud as we drifted to sleep. It has a great location with winding lanes full of shops and restaurants and an 8 minute walk to the harbor.

I wouldn't change a thing. We stayed in 8 locations during our 2 weeks in Portugal, and Senhor Gigi was our favorite.

Centrally located guest house. We did not meet any staff but the check in instructions were emailed and were very clear. We also received a Whatsapp message so the owner could be contacted if needed. I did need to contact the owner on the morning of check out and got a quick reply. The room overlooked a narrow street and was very quiet but only a short distance to shops and restaurants. The owner provided a map with restaurant recommendations. Bathroom facilities were good, and room was very clean. Would definitely consider staying again if visiting Faro.

Fantastic location in the centre of the city. Beautiful old building but with modern fixtures and fittings. Maddelena was super friendly and helpful via text and email. Very efficient and quiet air conditioning/ heating. It was cold in Faro in January at night and we were really cosy in our room.

Nothing Steep stone steps wouldn't suit people with mobility issues. With windows open, some street noise is people walking past, bin lorry one morning. Nothing bad and almost no traffic due to very narrow cobbles street. Birds in the trees sing loudly in the morning!

The location is amazing - right in the middle of Faro, with cafes, restaurants, shopping, etc, all in the doorstep, plus a short walk to the Cathedral and other sights in the old town. The room was great - loads of space, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I’d definitely go again if I was visiting Faro again. Maddalena was very helpful over WhatsApp with details of the door code etc.

I didn’t realize that we would need to let ourselves in with a door code, then get the room key from a key safe. If I’d known it might have put me off, but it all went completely smoothly and was no hassle at all.

This guesthouse has excellent, spacious rooms at a good price and with a really easy check in process. It is situated right in the centre of the city, near the port, so everything is within easy walking distance. Plenty of recommendations for things to do and transport to take for the beach from the host. Unfortunately we did not manage to see Senhor Gigi himself :(

The check-in was a little later than advertised (30 mins). There was also some construction noise but that can't be helped.

Where do I start... we absolutely loved this place!! It is one of the cleanest, most special places I have ever stayed in! Check in was super smooth and easy! The room was amazing, very comfortable and big enough for me and my teen daughter! We loved how beautifully decorated it was. The whole place smelled so fresh! Few steps to a great cafe/restaurant and close to all the attractions! We loved everything about it and wished we could have stayed longer! Book it, you won't be disappointed! Next time I visit Faro I am definitely staying at Senhor Gigi again!!

We loved staying at Senhor Gigi's! Maddalena was friendly and very responsive towards all our questions (leaving luggage pre check-in, how to get there etc.) even before we checked-in. We also liked that Senhor Gigi had helpful maps of the best restaurants in town, and – though we sadly missed doing it – a secret tour (hint is on a little card in your room; read Maddalena's instructions upon check-in!) of the best spots in Faro. Senhor Gigi is also well located in the middle of the town. Check-in and check-out was easy and the room itself clean, beautifully furnished and comfy. If we're in Faro, we'll definitely stay there again!

This is not a problem that we had, but people who are sensitive to noise should know that the guesthouse is located in an older heritage building. As such, the walls are thin, and it means both that one needs to keep a bit quieter, and also that noise can be heard. (Not as much from the streets, but in the hallways or other rooms.) Provided everyone keeps to the house rules of not making too much noise, there should be no issues though!

Spotless room, comfortable bed & fantastic location. Would come again to really see Faro.

Unfortunately my husband was ill and could not enjoy the city. We had a lovely walk around the town but waiting for the 3pm check in was hard for him: its a pity the reception is not manned i could not explain. I whatsapp at 3pm & they sent checkin code by return. But we knew this in advance and it was no fault of the propriator. My husband hopes to come again to enjoy the city properly. Will definitely book again for another visit.
