I was very impressed how nice this Holiday Inn Portland by the Bay was! ~The lobby was open and airy. ~Every staff member did their job. We had the most informative gentleman Richard checking us in. We arrived early and he shared lots of touristy information with us. ~Our room ended up being ready after our conversation! Our bed was very comfortable and we had a fridge! ~Since we signed up for the IHG rewards program, we received free parking! ($20 8/2025) ~The location was excellent, as far as walking into town. ~We booked the breakfast package, which I recommend! It’s so worth it and it saves you money if you plan on eating breakfast there. They offer it until 11am.
Can’t really say anything negative about our stay here.

We loved the corner room with king bed and sofa. Great view from the 6th floor. The room was spacious, clean and had a refridgerator and coffee maker. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice (lotion pump was empty though). Overall great accomodations. We were super close to the Cross arena for our show so we could just walk there. We also took advantage of the shuttle to a local breakfast spot (Becky's) with driver 'Halzy', who was wonderful giving recomendations, providing friendly, prompt service. He is an asset to the hotel staff. We would definitely stay again.
Thought the room would have a view of the bay but not sure if that's on me/my mistake or the hotel's. The pillars in the underground parking lot were oddly placed making parking very tricky and we did not have a large car, thank goodness.

Breakfast was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We did miss having bottle water and house keeping, but I was only there 2 nights. Having an in-room coffee maker and fridge was nice. Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of seating and work space. The pool areas was also good sized and well maintained. Location is perfect if you are going to an event at the center across the street, but not so good if you are looking to walk to the Old Port area in typical Portland weather as there is not much else to do at night close by. There were renovations going on, so the restaurant was closed (except for breakfast). The lounge was open though, and the food there was very good. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
The renovation had closed all restrooms on the lobby/restaurant/lounge floor. It was a long walk and an elevator ride to the closest one on the second floor. The room bathroom was clean, big enough, and well equipped, but I do dislike angled sink countertops.

Very nice room. Well appointed and comfortable. Great location.
The toilet seat height was way to low. Felt like you were sitting on the floor. Would have been great for a 5 year old but not for an adult.

Perfect location - close to the port, restaurants. The Arts museum is just on another side of the street. Parking is convenient - there is an indoor 2-level parking (with the direct elevator to your floor) and a big parking next door. So if there is no place in indoor - you could go to the next door parking. Gates are operated by the room card. The indoor pool is nice , quite deep on one end (2 m) and rather shallow on another (1.4 m). There are saunas in the shower rooms at the Pool/Gym. The staff is very welcoming. Beds are comfortable (while the pillows are quite small and soft).
The parking places in indoor parking are too small, I was afraid that my car would be scratched by someone. The capacity of indoor parking is just few dozen cars , so it is highly likely that it would be full. In addition the parking is paid (15$) which is not crucial, but would be easier if it would be included. Air conditioning is awful - it is "not smart" - there is Heat or Cold (and there is no Auto mode just to keep necessary temperature). As usual - this type of ancient AC is quite noisy. The sound proof is bad - so we heard steps in the corridor, knocking into other doors, some quite loud music (as if there is a festival outside - while there was nothing). In the bathroom there is no ventilator - so after a shower everything is foggy.

The room was good, clean. The location was perfect for easy access to every area I wanted to visit, museum and downtown area.
The coffee serve at breakfast, it was watered coffee. They need to update the toaster, they took forever to toast a muffin, and the coffee pots served looked run down. For the price, everything served was good except the coffee. Since there are no breakfast options nearby, only coffee shops and bakery.

My traveling companion swims for exercise. She said the pool was very large and nicely appointed. This property appears to have been redecorated fairly recently, Furnishings were comfortable though not lavish, plastic finishes, not wood. The TV was huge. The room was large enough that a single king bed left empty space. The bay view was definitely worth the extra cost. The refurbished bathroom was cleverly designed with the vanity angled in a corner to give good clearance. Because parking is not included, you only pay for what you need which at $15 per night is reasonable enough. The garage under the building is tight but easy enough in a small car such as mine. The parking ramp next door looked more normal. In-and-out using the room key was easy enough once I figured out which side the magnetic strip should be on. The location is outstanding easy walking distance to the old houses of the West End, to the so-called Arts district with its restaurants and local shops, and to the Commercial and Free Street area of the Old Port. The arena is just down the block, if you were there for a sport or entertainment event. Unlike hotels facing Commercial Street, there is no traffic or truck noise. The lobby was pleasant. I did not tour the function rooms which appear quite extensive.
The included breakfast was fairly standard, chain hotel, buffet fare. It included both French toast and waffles as well as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, a nice fresh fruit salad, etc. It is served in the hotel restaurant. I think they were understaffed. Rather than allow open seating at the adequately spaced tables, a hostess was seating people which resulted in a considerable waiting line. Instead of providing takeout materials at the buffet, I had to request them from the hostess which meant standing in the line even though I did not want to sit down. Seems like they could design a more efficient system. A single easy-chair and a desk chair provided minimal seating though a desk on wheels provided a table for eating breakfast opposite my friend.

location - IDEAL, so easy to get just about anywhere in portland and i never moved the car once i parked it in the hotel garage breakfast - despite not having the cost included in my daily rate, it's one of the few hotels i've booked where i actually had a real breakfast, with many options, every morning
super minor but still a nuisance - my room key pass rarely worked smoothly in the elevator (safety/security feature) - eventually i always got to my room, but why did the key pass work 100 percent of the time opening my room but not in securing the elevator?

Having a restaurant right there on the property was very helpful (and delicious) when we arrived, so that we could get settled in our room and have an easy meal. The breakfast buffet was good too. Our room size was big, and the window looking out was great when watching the fog that had rolled in that night. The location of the hotel is exceptional when it comes to just leaving your car parked and touring the city by foot.

The breakfast was the most disappointing experience of our stay. We waited one and one-half hours for breakfast, there was one wait staff that had only been there for three days, she was doing her best, very polite, but she was overwhelmed. The food was so bad I couldn’t eat it, and it was of very poor quality. If you served toasted bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit, English muffins, cereal and muffins and pastries, you wouldn’t need wait staff, you could have it Buffett style. Go to the Camden Inn for some ideas! Best breakfast I’ve had at a hotel!! I would choose to stay at another hotel because the breakfast was so bad. I mean really bad.
