+ Great Location + Nice atmosphere in the hotel + Lovely bar and public areas + Very nice breakfast

- Room 117 had a bathroom for disabled guests but was not very user friendly. - No shower curtain so all the bathroom was soaked - No toilet roll holder so the toiler rolls were also wet from the shower - No toilet seat cover and only a small basin for washing hands . - Nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. - As the floor was tiled, the water from the shower stayed on the floor all day ad would have been dangerous for anyone with reduced mobility. - The hinges on the wardrobe door were broken. NB if you take the dinner package you have a reduced menu to the value of £30

The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff were really nice and helpful.

The only down side for us was it was a little way out of the centre of York for going out in the evening. However they had a really good system in place for ordering a taxi, which wasn’t expensive.

The hotel was in a nice, quiet location within an easily walkable distance to the city centre. The interior was beautiful and stylish with an ambient and relaxing atmosphere.I loved the peacock theme, soft music playing in communal areas and looking at the wall art and stained glass windows. Our room was spacious, very clean and quiet, with beautiful curtains and a very soft and comfortable bed. The staff were polite, friendly and always smiling.

Maybe a few little things in the bathroom like not enough space around the toilet, the shower container was empty unless my partner used it all thinking it was the shower gel, and the shower was not the easiest one to operate- it took awhile to regulate the water temperature. My partner wanted to watch an Italian football mach and he could not share the screen from his mobile to the TV as this option was not available/ or disabled.

We arrived at the hotel at 2pm but wasn't allowed in the room until 3pm The only other issue was breakfast. Their was only one member of staff on duty originally so we had to wait a little while to be seated. We were told to help ourselves to the continental breakfast along with tea, and coffee Unfortunately the coffee machine was not working. We sat on a small round table being only one member of staff on duty our table our plates and cups just sat their on the table until another member of staff turned up

Loved the interiors of the main building and that they have tried to keep the essence of the building. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast was delicious.

Some areas are abit tired, for instance some of the seating in the bar area. And the terrace could be made to look more inviting. Also, the buffet section of the breakfast needs to be replenished more often.

I guess you would call this a boutique hotel. The entrance leading to the stairs was something else. The hotel was a short walk to the City walls. 12 minutes. The staff were amazing from the registering with the receptionist to being thanked by the manager on leaving. We decided to have the breakfast on both days of our stay. Great choice continental with cooked. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. In the evening we had a drink on the terrace. My partners cocktail had fresh mint picked from the garden on the terrace. Clean and quiet room. Brilliant shower. I would certainly recommend this hotel. As somebody who has spent years working away from home living in hotels this was a very good hotel.

Really nicely decorated, very spacious room. Bed huge and very comfortable. Beautiful and stylish room. Airy with 2 big windows in our room, and nice air con for the hot weather.

Parts of the room were a bit dusty, and there was a bit of a lack of attention to detail with the cleaning/details - no bin bags in the bins, and the shower gel hadn't been refilled. The grout around the sink taps needs a good clean, the mirrors had some smears on, and water spilled through the bottom of the shower even when sealed shut. Also the handle fell off the tap in the shower but this was easily put back on. But these were easy to ignore, and overall the room was clean.

Great size room and bathroom quiet and easy access to the bar and restaurant well maintained. Breakfast was excellent and good choice .The bed was huge and very comfortable we had room 315 on the side over looking a neighbours garden .York itself is easily walkable

Parking is limited on a first come first served basis 10 or so spaces with two electric 9 very good value on the electric charging , £10 a night /day or if no spaces the school car par opposite which i believe is £18 a day/night .So if the hotel is really busy you it could add a bit to your overall stay .Bays outside on the road are available i think from 6pm to 8am but that only works if your driving around each day visiting other areas .We were very lucky got a space every day and charged

The room was beautifully decorated, all usual facilities with the welcome addition of a fridge, the bathroon exceptional I especially loved the peacock tiles, and as requested a walk in shower. Plenty of choice for breafast either Full English or Continental. Rather a limited menu for the evening meal, but quality ingredients very well presented. The staff are wonderful always look happy so it must be as a good place to work as it is to stay, Am already planning mt next stay.

Room was really nice and spacious, very clean and comfortable place to relax. The Hotel it self is very nice, it's pretty spectacular when you first enter, and it has a really nice ambience, We didn't take the breakfast, as we felt it was a too expensive, there are plenty of independent cafes on the way to the City Centre.

The room wasn't serviced by the time we returned quite late into afternoon, so we had to go ask for new towels and condiments. It took my wife some time to talk to the receptionist, since they were busy checking-in guests, and it seemed that their intended rooms were also not ready! The receptionist apologised and explained that they were experiencing staffing issues on that day. It wasn't a big deal, but when paying over £100/night for not much more than a room with a bed, you would expect the room to be serviced in a timely manner.
