Beach, location, food and staff

Our booking was transferred because Jetwing Sea is undergoing renovations. The pools, the beach deck and the food - both choice of food and quality. The breakfast was a bit small though.

The (plastic) pollution on the beach. I understand the beach isn't hotel property, but with such a large staff some folks should be able to clean up the beach - at least a section. Finally, while most of the staff were extremely polite, helpful and had a lot of joy in their work. One waiter in the central restaurant was clearly not up for the job, not speaking English well enough to even answer the most basic questions, and always looking very grumpy.

Jetwing was right on the beach. We decided to stay in Negombo rather than Colombo. A gentle start to our holiday. Well thought out room and amenities. We loved the coffee facilities in the room. Great views. It's worth a walk along the beach to see the fishing and the locals. I wish I'd brought some pens and paper for the children. Lots of cricket games happening in the local village I felt very privileged to see how Sri Lankan families live.

The cost of breakfast is $20 per person which I thought was too much. We decided to have breakfast out which costs a fraction of the price.

We stayed in a deluxe room, which we would definitely recommend. We were originally in a standard, but due to another hotel client's company function, we were moved to a quieter end of the hotel. The deluxe rooms are certainly a lot better than the standard rooms! The staff were incredibly helpful. Special call out to Ruwindra Dias (the manager) who went over and above in helping us. Also all the staff in the restaurants were great. One of the things we would really recommend is the Sri Lankan cooking experience where you learn how to cook (and then eat!) a whole Sri Lankan meal, with many different dishes. It was just fantastic!

The hotel is just about to be refurbished, so some parts of the hotel (e.g. reception, corridors, standard rooms) were looking a bit dated. We saw plans of how it will look, which looked really nice. The hotel has a private beach, but the distance to the water is quite a treck! We normally prefer smaller boutique style hotels, but, for a larger chain hotel, this was nice.

We have stayed here a few times now and we love it! The staff are fantastic and are there to help in any way they can. Super friendly and always smiling. Rooms are clean and the beds are our favourite of all hotels in SL. Extremely comfortable. Food is excellent 👌 with a huge variety to choose from and very fresh. Sanitation is very high on their priority list ensuring all food is covered as much as possible & vigilant staff checking the food stations carefully. Being right on the beach and on the main street in Negombo Beach makes it close to everything and walkable to all the local restaurants, bars & shops. Looking forward to coming back in November ☺️

The review score of 7.6 doesn't do this hotel justice. The staff, food, drinks, service and location are fabulous! We stayed here for one night and even after cancelling our original booking and booking again, upon checkin the hotel staff still insisted on giving us ur money back for the night we weren't staying. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were very attentive, polite and courteous. What we also loved about the hotel is their green credentials, no plastic bottles in the room, all glass bottles including the complimentary toiletries and water. Breakfast, although we paid extra for this, was fabulous, never been to a hotel where someone cuts your fruit for you from a whole fruit. Fabulous Hotel and so handy for the airport - much closer than Colombo would be.

The hotel in places was a little bit tired and could do with some re-decoration.

The staff were generally helpful. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of variety. And the location was amazing, right across from the beach. The bathroom was decent, with all the necessary amenities.

Two things: First, there was a massive party in the room next door with like 20+ people and loud music which was a bit much. Second, as a solo female traveller, I prefer to be left alone and not discuss my personal life with staff. I understand they may have just tried to be friendly, but it's best to avoid asking such questions from guests.

The overall experience at the property was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, good amenities, friendly and attentive staff, great room service menu, the staff accommodated our special requests, and the hotel is situated in a great location. There was so much to experience - toddy tapping, fresh fish hauls, catamaran rides, beautiful sunsets and so much more. We had a wonderful and relaxing time overall. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Not having lifts or disability access to ground floor rooms. Not having the options to control the air condition in the room and switch it off when not required. Not having the patio French doors equipped with solid locks.

Excellent location on the beach, not far from Negombo downtown and 30mn from the airport. Nicely arranged hotel, with refreshing wind blowing through the building. The staff is top notch, really friendly (from my little experience in Sri Lanka, this seems to be the case pretty much everywhere!). Good breakfast, and nice seafood restaurant.

Just one little thing, as my room was opening to the swimming pool, and the bathroom is separated from the room by a window, people outside could potentially see you taking your shower unless you close down the room curtains completely. The beach is wide and clean. I went on doing a bit of kite surfing. But it’s not the best spot in Sri Lanka, quite choppy and wind a bit low.

I am a good swimmer and it was easy to have a dip in the ocean.( 60 m from my room) pool was enormous. staff 1st class. Cost 5,000SL rupees for a taxi from airport to hotel and 1,000 SL rupees to get a ride into Negombo city. A few restaurants within a short walking distance if you want other eating options than the hotel

There is nothing I did not like but it needs to be noted the hotel is dated and is in need of a good paint job and general spruce up
