We stayed at Opus for the first and third week of a three week holiday in Portugal last autumn. The location is excellent with only a short walk to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was excellent, with a ample selection of meat, cheese, yoghurt, bread, fruit, and scrambled eggs. We had two different rooms during our stay both spacious and with enough storage space for our luggage. Both rooms had a balcony/terrace. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help with recommendations for restaurants. Thanks to Joao, Pedro, Fatima, and the rest of the Opus team. Hope to visit again soon.

Breakfast was nice a selection of cheese, ham, fruit, fresh bread and scrambled eggs on request. Hotel staff were superb: exceptionally friendly and helpful - impeccable service. Room was nice, fridge, comfy bed, good aircon, walk in shower. Balcony was a nice suntrap from 14:00 onwards and lovely to have the breeze on warm days, meandering it's way through the room. The hotel has a massive stock of wine, port and cheeses etc. We very much recommend sampling the port at the hotel. Location is superb, right in the heart of old town. Five minute walk to the bus and train station, public transport is cheap and affordable. Free pool table was in a nice room to play in. Loads of restaurants within a few minutes walk. Virtually everyone speaks some english. People in the Algarve are very friendly and helpful.

Not a bad point as such, just took me a day to get used to the layout and location of doors/keys.

Such an interesting property with the most beautiful touches, including a room with a piano, guitar, hi fi, vinyl records to indulge yourself. How can you imagine behind the front door there is a climate controlled wine cellar, the kindest staff, a beautiful dog, gorgeous pool. The food and wine are off the scale. We are foodies and have owned our own restaurant, so we know that good looks and tastes like. This was a treat evening and we in indulged in the four course menu. These guys must be missing a Michelin star. We took a wine flight of chef recommendations. It was exceptional.

Nothing at all

Very friendly staff (especially Fatima), welcoming and comfort place. A lot of wine (2k+ bottles) and the owner helped us to choose nice local one. Lots of pillows, stylish room with air-condition, tv and minibar. And jacuzzi in the room! We have a room with terrace, so breakfast was served there - calm and quite. We were celebrating birthday and receptionist lady contact me before our arriving and prepared a little surprise, that was very kind and sweet, I really appreciate it.

The pool-table was occupied by a wine bottles, but I'm sure it's temporary :)

Beautiful guest house, owners & staff were so friendly & helpful. We loved our stay, we loved the breakfast experience & the owners catered very well for my gluten free husband which we really appreciated. Our bedroom & bathroom were spacious with lovely bedlinen, towels & toiletries. We enjoyed the port tasting with Pedro & would recommend doing that during your stay. If you want to stay in Faro, then look no further, we were super impressed with this amazing place. It is close to the old town, lovely restaurants & cafes plus great transport links.

Having to leave after 2 wonderful nights.

Location was excellent, staff were brilliant and the property had a lovely intimate feel about it. It was a family run guest house and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and happy to help with any recommendations. The furnishings were lovely, the room was the perfect size for a couple. It was about a 5 minute walk to the marina. Toiletries included in the room. We booked a transfer to take us to the airport and staff took us. Couldn't recommend this property enough.

Minor matter but the Pillows - too soft/lumpy.

Awesome breakfast. The staff is really attentive and helpful. The location of the accomodation is great as it is close to the center but in a quiet street.

Our room (lemon tree) was advertised having a terace. However this can be misleading, as the "terace" is in the midle of the building and hence has no view. Also the room has only the terace door to open and no other windows that can be opened. Therefore the air quality in the room is poor.

The hotel is well situated, within walking distance to the bus station and the ferry terminal. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Despite arriving at the hotel at 23:35 due to a delayed flight, they still managed to find us something to eat and drink. The owners knowledge of food and wine/Port is exceptional and their enthusiasm and willingness to share that knowledge trickles down to the staff

Nothing to complain about

I really thought this stay was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly, from check-in to check out. They were great in keeping in touch before our stay as well. A lot of information before arriving kept us well-informed. We also received a free upgrade - thank you very much. As for the breakfast offered by the Guest House - wow. They may not hand you a menu or call it a buffet breakfast, but it is an amazing spread. The table is full, and you have your choice of everything they offer. Definitely don't miss out on this. The room was great, and the property had a lot of common space if you felt like a night in. I highly recommend this location. Thanks.

Parking can be a bit tricky depending on the season and time of day.

Amazing property with a great vibe and very inviting. Rooms were great. We had 3 rooms. Our room had a large balcony going onto the pool area. John was so friendly and helpful In so many ways. He has amazing wine and port and is extremely knowledgeable. The breakfast was seriously amazing. We had dinner our first night and was the best dinner we had in Portugal in 4 days. Totally fresh seafood. Would highly recommend staying here. It’s a very special place. Will be back. Thanks to John and his wife!!!
